Spent the evening at the house of one of my wife's good childhood friends here in France. He laid this bottle down in front of me and asked if I ever had Absinthe before. I told him no and asked if this stuff is the real deal. Indeed it was. It is illegal in France actually but he got this particular bottle in Spain.

Anyway, he put down two shot glasses and filled them up. I inquired about the whole cube of sugar on a spoon over a glass with water, but he said he doesn't bother with that and just shoots it. Well alright. Down the hatch. Holy mother of all that is evil in this world. I cannot even explain to you what this crap was like going down my gullet. Unreal. I imagine two or three more shots of that would make you a bit crazy. For now on, I believe I will stick with my 40% Scotch. And yes, that is 89.9% alcohol on the bottle. Nasty shit.

Yes Brad, it's one of my favorites. I scored 2 4 packs last year, and that was my 2nd one of the season. I have a great beer manager at the local package store who puts aside hard to get beers for me. It pays to know people!
