https://hotair.com/karen-towns...ernet-access-n451535 Billionaire Elon Musk stepped up and answered a plea from Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. Fedorov tweeted to Musk asking him for Starlink stations so that Ukraine can have satellite internet access. Musk made it happen. Fedorov’s tweet was posted yesterday and just hours later, Musk responded. @elonmusk , while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand. 7:06 am on 26 Feb 2022 Musk response: Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route. 5:33 pm on 26 Feb 2022

Belarus needs to pay a price too from Fox: Belarus ditches non-nuclear status in change to constitution Belarus approved a new constitution Sunday to end the country's non-nuclear status. Just over 65% of those that took part in the vote were in favor of the measure, according to reporting from Reuters. The vote comes after the former Soviet republic served as a launching point for Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and would mark the first time the country could host nuclear weapons on its soil since the fall of the Soviet Union. Reuters: https://www.reuters.com/world/...-nuclear-2022-02-27/ The agencies cited the Belarus central elections commission as saying 65.2% of those who took part voted in favor. The result came as little surprise, given the tightly controlled rule of President Alexander Lukashenko. The new constitution could see nuclear weapons on Belarusian soil for the first time since the country gave them up after the fall of the Soviet Union. It raises the stakes at a time when Lukashenko has fallen behind Russian President Vladimir Putin's military assault on Ukraine after earlier playing an intermediary role between the two neighbours.

FEMA: In Case Of Nuclear Explosion, Maintain Social Distancing And Wear A Mask https://www.zerohedge.com/medi...ancing-and-wear-mask Now, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, has issued updated guidance to its "Nuclear Explosion" readiness public awareness website, which includes tips to avoid Covid! "A nuclear explosion may occur with or without a few minutes warning," reads the page, which was updated on Friday. "Fallout is most dangerous in the first few hours after the detonation when it is giving off the highest levels of radiation. It takes time for fallout to arrive back to ground level, often more than 15 minutes for areas outside of the immediate blast damage zones. FEMA recommends the following steps to prevent 'significant radiation exposure,' which include "Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household," and "If possible, wear a mask if you're sheltering with people who are not part of your household." _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Condoleezza Rice did not say Biden united NATO. She said Putin united NATO. There is a huge difference. She is a very intelligent lady.

Seems you are correct and some "news" sites and Twitter feeds cropped it to make it sound like she meant Biden.

Apparently the S2 Underground team didn't do an update yesterday, so here is the final update of the day (Sunday evening) from Speak the Truth. It looks like Russia is massing a convoy in preparation for an offensive push on Kiev/ Kyiv in coordination with a possible airborne drop, once the Belarus troops are in place. If his intel is accurate, it's interesting, and a bit mind boggling, that social media and geo-location is playing a big role in this war. Robert was able to locate a Russian SAM battery location, and apparently the Ukrainians used the same tech strategy to later locate and take it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyCFY2DKamA

People tend to complain when I get too long and detailed. I've actually explained this once or twice before, but it might have been years. First, the European energy market and grid is largely integrated, so looking at individual countries doesn't make much sense. Specifically, in recent years some care has been taken that gas pipelines work in both directions in view of Russia's habit to play politics with deliveries. In fact the line running through Poland to Germany has been working in reverse for months supplying gas from the the latter to the former as Poland has not renewed contracts with Russia, but not yet built up sufficient alternate capacities. Overall, the EU generates 40 percent of its own energy needs, about three quarters of which are renewables and nuclear. Of the 60 percent imported, Russia provides about half, in roughly equal parts coal, oil and gas. There are of course actually substantial European coal deposits, but exploiting them is a lot more expensive in many cases due to local geology, labor cost and environmental standards. Mining used to be heavily subsidized, and in the course of deregulation, globalization and austerity politics, many countries have gone to importing from as far away as South Africa, which is still cheaper. It also shows that coal is a fungible commodity. Same for oil. As noted earlier, not every grade of crude can be processed by any refinery, which is why the US has become the top importer of Russian oil products after sanctioning Iran and Venezuela; but overall, the global oil market is completely fungible. Unfortunately for the effectiveness of Western sanctions that means if you embargo trade with Russia, they will probably sell to China, albeit at lower prices because they have to; so their national budget which depends up to 50 percent on fossil fuel sales still takes a hit. At the same time, someone else doesn't sell the oil to China they did before the latter switched to Russia, so the West and Europe specifically still get supplied from the sources now freed up. Natural gas is somewhat special because it's largely tied to pipelines, and Russia does indeed provide 35 (not 70) percent of the EU's total need here. Germany isn't even the worst case at 55; the East European countries still get pretty much all of theirs from the former big brother, hence the attention to enabling reverse flow. Of course that leads to mutual dependency; if Russia shuts down the flow, they don't get the money they rely on for their budget. They only finished their first line to China in 2019 (and the Chinese exacted very low prices because Russia was under pressure to diversify - see above for the effects of an oil embargo), so they don't have anywhere near the same capability to sell anywhere but Europe with four major lines in operation. OTOH if you sanction them, a considerable share of your supply drops out. Just Russia not pumping more than they were obliged to under long-term contracts over the last year while demand increased due to the economy rebounding from COVID, and not refilling the reservoirs run by Gazprom in Germany after the previous winter, has lead to tremendous price hikes on the gas market. Some say that was because they were focussed on refilling their own reservoirs, some because they could get better prices elsewhere in the bonanza; many suspect it was to push for Nord Stream 2 to become operational, supported by remarks from government figures that more deliveries would be no problem once that happened. In retrospect it looks pretty much like they were already demonstrating their power and trying to get Nord Stream 2 on ahead of the Ukraine invasion. Luckily there are some factors working against them. For Germany specifically, the point was passed a couple weeks ago where they could completely shut off supply tomorrow, and existing stocks would still get us to next winter. More generally, the amount of gas they deliver to the EU is about equal to the spare capacity of European LNG terminals. Of course LNG tends to be more expensive than natural gas conveniently pumped through existing pipelines with sunken costs; indeed suspicion in Germany long was that US attempts at blocking Nord Stream 2 was more about forcing American LNG at uncompetitive prices on us than about security concerns. It's probably not entirely wrong either if you look at top promoters like Ted Cruz who represents the same Texan oil and gas industry which wants to sell said LNG, but imports record amounts of Russian oil products because remodeling refineries to process different grades would cost them a lot of money. But either way, development of gas prices over the last year has actually made American LNG competitive on the European market. Distribution still needs to be improved, particularly in Southern Europe; Germany currently has no terminal of its own (there are plans for one which however haven't been prosecuted with particular urgency as merely hedging your bets; needless to say that has rapidly changed, and there is even word of two now), but could get it from Rotterdam. In short, Russia has a significant, but not controlling share in European energy, and is about to see it plummet. If they turned off the gas valve tomorrow, there certainly would be some hardship, and any way this goes I'm certain there will be further rising cost with all the economic effects that entails. But as Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in his address yesterday in a slight variation, freedom ain't free, and it's unlikely anyone will freeze because we ran out of gas.

Fucking Russians bombarding Kharkiv video at https://twitter.com/i/status/1498290904783892483 A deliberate rocket attack on residential areas of Kharkiv, carried out amid the Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Belarus, has caused "dozens of deaths," according to local reports. https://hotair.com/allahpundit...s-in-kharkiv-n451747

Given the skepticism about videos expressed earlier in this thread, I went looking on Google Maps. The video above is definitely Kharkiv, shot from about here. https://www.google.com/maps/@5...Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 It looks like the area being attacked is about here: https://goo.gl/maps/yUWqRoH8avUfYeCL8 It looks like it's a little run down strip warehouse/business thing on the edge of a residential area.

Bingo. Biden's just sitting in the back of the international car eating his ice cream and navel gazing out the window. Putin has definitely stepped in it big time, and I don't believe he saw this amount of push back from the EU coming. The question then becomes, is this good or bad for us? Pushing the very irrational leader of a nuclear armed country could end very badly for everyone. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. I was just doodling around on ADSB and noticed the 747 presidential airplane 82-8000 (One of the 2 that are normally considered Air Force One, the other is 82-9000) just landed in Delaware at Dover AFB from Washington DC. Maybe 2 scoops is getting a fun ride today. .This message has been edited. Last edited by: OKCGene,

https://www.breitbart.com/poli...h-combat-experience/ Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that his country would free any convicted criminals “with real combat experience” to fight the ongoing full-scale invasion by Russia. https://www.breitbart.com/econ...sanctions-take-hold/ The Russian ruble crashed amid a public frenzy to pull cash out of bank accounts on Monday, instantly knocking almost 30 percent off the value of a currency that was not in good shape to begin with. CNBC spotted rubles trading at 119 to the dollar in offshore markets early Monday morning, down from 84 to the dollar on Sunday – the biggest single-day drop on record for the Russian currency. Russia’s central bank responded by freezing the Russian stock and derivative markets, forbidding brokers to fulfill sell orders from foreigners, ordering Russian companies to sell of 80 percent of their foreign currency reserves, and freezing about $8.78 billion in rubles held by local bank reserves. The Bank of Russia also raised benchmark interest rates from 9.5 percent to 20 percent in a bid to attract more deposits, while Russian bond yields jumped from ten percent to 24 percent based on the increasing risk that Russia will default on its foreign debts. Not many Russians appear to be taking the bait on deposits, as depositors eager to withdraw their money in cash created huge lines at ATMs across the country. From ABC

Well...for a more human-side, the vloger, Benjamin Rich has documented his travels through a variety of former Soviet-states. His most recent videos is him entering and then escaping Ukraine just as things kicked-off. Quite the bleak region along the Russian border area. Then the escape with his American buddy Johnny FD. His videos he's usually quite lighthearted and cynical, that disappears and you feel the anxiety on his face. Touching scene as they're helping people onto the train.

Of course we are focused on the air and land war going on, but not much has been said about the Russian Navy and its activity. And I cant help wondering where the Russian ballistic missile submarines are. If any are seaworthy, that is. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles
