I just now saw this. So sad to hear about this new step in your life. You've been a rock here and you've made me a more informed person and I thank you for that. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim

Sir, I hope you and your family find peace during this trying time.

To your point, hospice has many facets and isn't always in place just to help with pain management in the final moments.

I hope you are able to go through this on your terms as much as possible.

Thank you for your contributions and efforts.

Peace be with you.

Jim, my prayers are offered up in your name. As others have mentioned, a JALLEN post was one which was required reading. Thanks for your many contributions to the forum.

Recently, I corresponded with Jim to thank him for his presence over the years.

It's easy to say at times like this that life is cruel, but the truth is that life is simply what life is. It is necessary- absolutely necessary- for generations to die off, so that new generations can have their time on this planet.

Those now dead who had their time before the now living had to leave this existence to make room for us. It has to be that way. It has to be that way.

Jim knows these things, and he seems to be taking it in stride, but I have to say in all honesty that I feel that Jim is being cheated, and it angers me. There's nowhere for those feelings to go, because this is the way things are and the way they must be.

How does it feel to be indispensable, Jim? Because that's what you are to the members of SIGforum.

Thanks for for all the good articles and bits of wisdom over the years. Hopefully there can still be many more.
We're all just a bit behind you, some more than others.
Sorry for your family members as I've been there a few times but the way you are handling it and the help of hospice makes it as good as it can be.

Jim,

Thank you for all your contributions over the years.

We've never met, but I assure you that your wisdom - so generously shared - has made my life more interesting, educated, and meaningful.

I pray you find peace and joy in the time remaining.

And I pray the next step for you is one filled with love on the other side.

JAllen,

I'm sorry to hear that your situation has continued to worsen, but I pray that your remaining days, however many there may be, are as happy and pain-free as possible. I'm praying for strength and understanding for your family, too, as they go through this with you to give you as much love and comfort as possible.

You've long been one of my first reads here on SIGForum for news and opinions, both your own and the many columnists that you've shared with us, on various issues. You've contributed so much to this forum and I hope you'll continue to be with us here for as long as you feel up to it and feel the desire to do so. I thank you for all you've done to make me more informed and to make this a better place. You will be missed.

This is a punch in the gut. I'm gonna miss seeing an interesting tread title, seeing you posted it, and automatically reading. You're one of those old bulls us younger guys need to listen to. Please make the most of whatever time you have left. I'll miss your presence here.

I usually view the forum on my phone and I zoom
In so I can’t see the author typically. However, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started to read a post and knew within a sentence that you were the author. Without fail, I was always right in my assessment. Jim, I am more familiar with your writing than anyone else on the planet, living it dead. Thank you for that gift.

We are better for having known and interacted with you, sir. Your dignity and grace in the midst of this ordeal speaks volumes about the man you are.

You will be missed. Godspeed, Jim.

Jim, I don't read everything on the forum, but tend to look to see names of thread starters. I read yours as I know you post things that matter. And for this we are all grateful.

Will be saying prayers for you and your family.

It was nice to email with you and has been an inspiration to see the manner in which you conduct yourself to the very end.

In another time and place we shall meet face to face.

Godspeed in your final journey my friend.

No doubt about that. I’ve had the pleasure, and sometimes displeasure, to learn so much from JALLEN on so many different topics.

My heart goes out to you and your family, Jim. May God be with you and your family in this final journey in life.

Wishing you all the best Jim. You live close to where I was raised (in part), and you've been a great contributor here. I still own a bunch of "O" because of you. It does feel far far too soon to say goodbye, so I won't. Rather, best wishes on your journey; you are in our prayers, thoughts and heart and that lasts forever.
