I still think it will be an amusing debate. I plan on watching it. There is still time for RD to recalibrate and plan for the future.

Carnival Barker shit. Sideshow Bob, the Bearded Lady, etc. One can say that Newsom is trolling DeSantis for a 2028 run. Pathetic.

Head of DeSantis Super PAC Resigns Saying Role Became 'Untenable'

The resignation follows reports of disagreements among the group's leadership as Nikki Haley rises in the polls.

The CEO of a super PAC backing Ron DeSantis's bid for the GOP presidential nomination announced his resignation on Wednesday, saying his role had become "untenable."

"Never Back Down’s main goal and sole focus has been to elect Governor Ron DeSantis as President," said Chris Jankowski in a statement provided by a spokeswoman for the super PAC.

"Given the current environment, it has become untenable for me to deliver on the shared goal, and that goes well beyond a difference of strategic opinion," the statement continued. "For the future of our country, I support and pray Ron DeSantis is our 47th president."

The announcement follows reports by NBC News and The New York Times, citing anonymous sources, about disagreements among the group's leadership. Reports emerged Tuesday that a heated argument broke out among two members of the group's leadership.

Never Back Down did not address a request for comment from The Epoch Times on the reports of these disagreements.

A new super PAC called Fight Right formed soon after the disagreement reportedly broke out.

A pro-DeSantis PAC makes a well-targeted attack against Nikki Haley
By Andrea Widburg

Full disclosure: I don’t like Nikki Haley. Some of it is because I don’t like her political positions. However, a lot of it is visceral. Today, a meme and a ferocious video from a pro-DeSantis PAC went a long way to explaining my reaction to Nikki Haley.

Currently, the NeverTrumpers and GOP regulars view Nikki Haley as the new savior of the Republican party. She is the one, we are assured, who’s climbing so high in the polls that she can take down Trump and triumph over the Democrat machine in November 2024. I have my doubts. Just to give you a little perspective on that claim, according to the RCP rolling average for November 24, Haley is at 10.5, DeSantis is at 13.5…and Trump is at 59.8.

The mere fact that Trump’s opponents like Nikki is itself a very black mark against her. I could understand these people fighting against Trump in the 2016 primaries. We all want our preferred candidate to head the Republican ticket.

After Trump prevailed, though, that’s when everyone should have come together to join in the fight against Hillary. And when Trump won the presidency, everyone should have stood behind him on policy issues (building the border, the Abraham Accords, etc.) and against Democrat machinations (the Russia Hoax, the Ukraine Hoax, etc.).

Instead, the NeverTrumpers and GOP regulars sided with the Democrats all the way. What that tells you is that their problem isn’t with Trump. They are, instead, Democrats. At least Bill Kristol had the honesty to make it official. The rest are simply Fifth Columnists.

So, again, that the NeverTrumpers and GOPers like Nikki Haley makes me wary.

There’s also the fact that Haley, rather than siding with Ron DeSantis against Disney, the biggest institutional child groomer in America, announced that she wished she were still governor of South Carolina so that she could invite Disney to move to her state. Yes, it might be good for South Carolina’s economy, but it’s this lack of principles that has caused Americans to feel that Republicans don’t stand for anything…because Republicans like Nikki too often don’t.

I also agree with those who point out that Nikki was dead wrong to want to use the law to force people to identify themselves on social media. Yes, people hiding behind pseudonyms can be rude and awful. But we conservatives have learned that the Patriots in the lead-up to the American Revolution were correct: In the face of government tyranny, the best writers sometimes need the veil of secrecy to get their point across. Moreover, Nikki’s proposal is blatantly unconstitutional. You’d think she would have known better.

But honestly, what really gets my goat about Nikki is her emotional stridency (e.g., calling Vivek “scum” for rightly pointing out that her adult daughter used the same TikTok that Haley attacked Vivek for using in his campaign). That emotionalism pairs, in my mind, with Nikki’s constantly playing the woman card. Instead, she introduced her campaign with the woman card and hasn’t stopped.

Speaking as a bona fide woman (you can check my chromosomes), I absolutely hate the woman card. I hate it as a matter of principle, and I hate it in elections because…hmmm…it reminds me of someone. Someone really obnoxious. Someone like…Hillary Clinton.

Yes, Haley is Hillary. And I’m not the only one to notice. A few days ago, a meme came my way today making exactly that point:

And then there’s this savage video from a pro-DeSantis super PAC:

https://twitter.com/stillgray/...nst_nikki_haley.html

Because I am not a closet Democrat, if Haley wins the Republican primary, I will vote for her without any qualms, whether she runs against Biden, Kamala, Michelle, RFK Jr., Gavin Newsom, or anyone else the Democrats dredge up. No matter what I think of her, she’s way better than a Democrat. Having said that, I’d much rather see a conservative rather than a squish who reminds me of Hillary heading the Republican ticket.

Curtains with, or without this current story. The man is done, he's just spending money left in the campaign war chest, trying to get more donor money for whatever reason. And IMO, he is done for 2028. This far into the game, there is no public enthusiasm in his candidacy like Trump, Obama, Bill Clinton, Reagan, etc. Hell, a good chunk of people in America don't really know who he is.

How Ron DeSantis saves face

The GOP nominee for president will be Donald J. Trump. Not Nikki Haley, not Ron DeSantis. Who else is running? Yeah, none of them, either.

Nikki Haley has staked out the “establishment” wing of the UniParty and has been gaining steam, but unless every Democrat operative in the early primary states changes his registration, she will not garner near enough support to unseat the incumbent (Donald Trump).

Ron DeSantis has been in a tailspin for the past couple months and has tried to stake out a couple of different tacks, as his handlers try to message him to victory. This has harmed his authenticity with the Republican base and has further alienated him from the MAGA base of the Party.

Nikki Haley, it seems to me, will go scorched earth (à la Chris Christie) when things don’t go her way in the early primary states. She will join the dozen or so other NeverTrumps strewn across political the landscape in opposing her party’s presumptive candidate.

Ron DeSantis is in a quandary. If he joins Haley in going full NeverTrump, any future consideration he might have in running for president will be tarnished among the MAGA base of the Party. If Donald Trump loses, DeSantis will in part be blamed for the loss. If Donald Trump wins (praise be to God), Ron DeSantis will be seen as yet another turncoat who abandoned principle for cocktail party popularity.

Ron DeSantis can save face upon his exit and full-throatedly endorse Donald Trump for president. While his (UniParty) handlers won’t offer him this advice, I will.

Be a man. Put America first and your political aspirations second.

Throwing your full support behind Donald Trump will help him with some in the GOPe and will also help you, if you decide to run for president four years hence.

If you want to get behind the president in a big way, offer to work with him on securing votes in battleground states as you have in Florida.

A win for Donald Trump is a win for the American people. Those who work with him in achieving this objective will be seen favorably by the American public. A loss will be dire for America and won’t get you any closer to Pennsylvania Avenue.

Charles Koch, half of the Koch Brothers, had been dangling $70 million in front of the GOP since the start of this year, his chief goal to derail Trump in 2024. He was bullish on DeSantis in his governor run in 2018, but yesterday decided to endorse Nikki Haley, giving his $70 mil to her campaign. And Ronny is running on fumes now...

It's hard to fathom that kind of money. Most folks would see $7000 as a whole lot of cash, yet this guy will burn $70 million and shrug it off.

Imagine the lives he could turn around if he put that amount into charity. How many scholarships could it pay for? How many medical bills leading to bankruptcy could he pay off? How many meals could he put in hungry mouths?

But nope...he'll piss it away on a lost cause.

I'm pretty sure President Trump learned the first time that every (R) and every (D) are looking for ways to stab him.

The (D) come at him with murder in their eyes and spittle flying from their lips, while the (R) smile sweetly and conceal the knife behind their back.

Newsom is slick with parsing the stats to his argument.

He never answered the questions posed and twisted the facts to his point of view.

He reminds me with his delivery of Bill Clinton a little bit.

He's a scumbag for sure but I can see him running for and winning the Dem nomination in the future.

Unfortunately abortion is a political loser for Republicans. I wish it wasn't so, but it is.

He's a scumbag for sure but you're right: He's Slick Willie all over again. He's much more dangerous than Biden for 2024. He's not a candidate... blah, blah, blah. Until the convention in August when Biden drops out.
