Picked up a Panasonic SV3700 DAT player/recorder eBay/local deal. Got this box to pull music off a 30-year-old archives. Mastering through the fractal but laptop audio can’t handle it. Frown

Gonna try an Apple device tomorrow.

Tomorrow! I don't wanna jinx it. Wink Suffice to say, I have no business owning a guitar of this caliber. As a guitarist, I am without question, not worthy.

And,.. Eek That's a serious SERIOUS home rig!

Rats! They don't have Shin-ei. Their "B1G" is the only pedal I own so far. Well, that and the Two Notes Torpedo Captor X reactive loadbox. But that's not really a pedal. It's more of for hearing protection.

My first guitar, I built in 1979 when I was a senior in high school. Saved for a long time to buy some Charvel parts from Dr. Music in SoCal, a neck and Explorer body, and piece-mealed the rest of the parts (Schaller tuners, DeMarzio pickup, Fender bridge, etc). Eventually started to cut off parts of the ash wood body, it was so goddamn heavy. Repainted it a bunch of times and eventually sold the body and bought a 1964 Start body that was refinished to natural. I chiseled away at the cavity to fit two humbuckers and it has remained for this way for decades. 8 years ago, I bought new Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups, and new electronics and re-did the guitar, being very careful to properly ground it this time.

My amp is an old Marshall JCM 800 combo amp. Bought it in the 90s for $300, I hear it is worth more nowadays. had it re-tubed once, and replaced a pot, but that's it.

I have other guitars as well, and my only stomp toys are an old Big Muff and a Small Stone phase shifter. Don't even know where I put them...

They have generic boxes. You just pick the size.

Well, so much for that. Seller called me. He canceled the deal because Reverb required him to file a 1099 (or some such) and he was going to have to pay income tax on an item he was selling at break even. Can't say as I blame him.

How ridiculous.

I saw the deal got nixed, but curious, have you ever traveled 12 hours round trip for a watch?

I've done two 10 hour round trips for guns.

I've traveled 12 hours round trip for a special 1950s console HiFi, and I've traveled 12 hours round trip to (Philly/WatchBox) sell a watch.

Everything happens just as it should… Keep looking, because clearly the “right” guitar Wink is still out there.

Well, that sucks, but you'll find a good deal. Reverb, Ebay, Gunbroker, etc. have all seen their heyday. The tax stuff killed it. I keep an eye on Offerup and Craiglist, though those aren't without risks. There are some Facebook groups that expedite this as well, I'm in a PRS group. Scammers are a risk, but you know that.

Collings makes a great guitar. There's several thousand out there running around with pickups with my signature on the back.

I'm guessing a vintage Marshall Plexi and two 4 speaker cabs.

Or two Fender Showmans, a reverb unit, so you can channel Dick Dale.

Off topic:

Finally!

Was able to print clean stereo tracks to disc/cloud.

First recording trials were with some recordings of John and Gail Carpenter. They had asked me to kindly record their demo tapes circa 1991-2. I love this one …

Gail Carpenter Solo - track 3

So much music to review. Takes me back to the studio.

Yeah, right about 1:55 to the end of the bit, just causes allergies…

I spent about a month with this couple; with hiring a pianist for accompaniment. I believe they were somewhat famous in the late 60s and early 70s? By the time I met them, they were working at the local Italian restaurant on weekends.

A real exposure to opera for me. Many takes, and many, many critical listening sessions puts a musical imprint on your brain.

One talent I have, is being able to listen to a tune over and over, infinitely more times than a normal person. Wink I blame my parents. Wink

I think I have that bent too, but I'm sure not nearly with as sophisticated observatory prowess as you. I'm like an ape at the monolith listening to the linked bit in my signature.

I’m just a monkey too brother.

Remember, I too put music down for 30 years. There was a small period of time where I couldn’t even listen to music without hearing the production… It was a freaking curse.

Had to go get “a real job” … the real “curse” Wink

Kids will do that to you.
