And that information is based on a certified barrier with the correct parts , correctly assembled, with the proper foundation. According to a number of You Tubers, there might very well be 1/3 of the barriers that are not installed anywhere near correctly installed with the appropriate parts. On any given day in Houston, that number is likely higher. Multiple on my commute that are crumpled/damaged from impact(s), and that's just outside the Beltway (2nd of 3 loops around Houston) on the north side. The Enemy's gate is down.

My coworker built an electric mountain bike that managed to hit 78 mph. It punted my ass off the bike with quickness when I accidentally experienced a full hit of power. This tech has potential when used properly. I guarantee it will shock even the most skeptical when applied to two wheels. There is the potential for this new tech to be incredibly FUN but the eco fa&&$ts give it a bad rap. Their unnecessary heavy handed tactics have damaged the caused much more than they know. Don’t pay them any attention, they are assholes. For the around town drivers I can totally see electric taking over in the next decade. As This tech progresses, especially the battery side of it some of you will be in for a hell of a surprise. Just because some of the future of transportation might be electric doesn’t mean it’s gonna suck. Fools like me are hard at work to see what the absolute limits are on this tech. My coworker destroyed one of THE STRONGEST chains you can put on a mountain bike in just 77 miles of HARD use on one of his home brew e-bikes (one which makes more torque than my v twin 1000cc motorcycle and Yamaha R1 superbike). We just need more time to refine this stuff. There is tremendous potential here for those who maintain an open mind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

I have an open mind when I have free will. I'm opposed to government subsidies and mandates. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

That is a government gripe not an electric vehicle complaint. Government fucks up just about all that it touches. Those bastards are coming after our high powered electric bikes too. All it takes is one idiot to abuse something and they want to ban things. This is the way some people work. "We don't like it, so you can't have it." (Examples: guns, motorcycles, muscle cars, gas grills, long hair, loud music, etc.) They can't get a grip on the idea that if they don't like it (whatever it is), they probably don't have to participate in it, nor that their likely best course of action is to leave the rest of us the heck alone. Electric vehicles? Advancement of technology? Great. Heck, I used to work for a company that built motors for electric motorcycles. The technology was amazing. Compelling consumers to buy a product they don't necessarily want (read: not letting the market drive change) is not so great, and a recipe for resentment (at a minimum). Driving regulations to force consumers away from products they like (internal combustion, for instance) is darn near criminal. Enthusiasts can be enthusiastic among their own without forcing their cause on others. Many of them (whatever the topic they're enthusiastic about), however, can't seem to recognize this. God bless America.

No More Mr. Nice Guy |
Nobody is saying electric vehicles must, by definition, suck. There are very many serious problems for very many potential owners. Charging at home is impossible for many people who don't have their own garage. The cost of installing a charging station at home is steep. Cold climates are terrible places for batteries. Long distance trips require big delays for charging along the way, and finding a charger can be very difficult. Tires wear out faster because an EV weighs a lot more than the equivalent gas powered vehicle. And replacement tires are more expensive. Environmentally, making the electricity can be even more polluting than operating a gas powered vehicle. (Try calculating the efficiency of delivering 1 kwh of energy from the coal or natural gas arriving at the power plant until it ends up propelling your EV down the road...). The electric power grid is not capable of supplying enough to charge a large fleet. Heck, many places have rolling blackouts already and can't provide basic power for our homes. Those tires that wear out faster are creating more particulate and microplastic pollution.

I am willing to bet the 2000 miles I put on my E-MTB has had a less detrimental effect on the environment than 2,000 miles on my daily driver that gets 19.8 mpg on average. It’s also a hell of a lot more fun method of transportation and doesn’t require insurance. Government doesn’t have to force this shit on people, eventually the model T of EVs will be built. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

^^^^ Why do you keep talking about your electric bicycle as if it has anything at all to do with this Electric Vehicle push that we're actually objecting to? Because it is the best way to utilize this tech you moron. Until batteries make a huge step forward it is the best utilization of current tech. The most efficient animal on the planet is the condor. The most inefficient animals on the planet are humans. But a human with a bicycle BECOMES the most efficient animal. Applying electric vehicle tech to the most efficient vehicle for humans seems to me a no brainer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

And your response was respectful? Cmon man get real. I am sorry that my discussion on the most efficient use of an electric vehicle application seems to have annoyed you. Please accept my sincere and deep apologies. Yeah I got a bit fresh and I shouldn’t have. Not cool. Applying electric car discussions over to a more efficient means is I suppose not related to the discussion in this thread so for that I apologize. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

I think you have me confused with somebody else. That being said: I understand the annoyance, This thread is about electric cars and you've kept going on about electric bicycles. I, too, might be inclined to be annoyed--if I cared. "America is at that awkward stage.
