If you want some hope, take the time to read this. I find the ideas contained in this piece to be profoundly significant.

Trudeau and co. just better hope the workers don’t start reading Mao like he did in his youth, or they’ll learn all about how that revolutionary managed to win by “surrounding the cities from the countryside.” Or how Mao began his revolution by declaring that “a single spark can start a prairie fire” – but then the Canucks seem to have already managed to do that part already.

That is a pleasant thought. There's an awful lot of prairie in Canada.

Canada today is of course not Germany of 1933-34. As one historian pointed out, it’s not history that repeats itself, but human nature, and although there are many differences between Canada today and early Nazi Germany, the similarities are telling. Once it becomes possible to do things such as rule by decree under a “state of emergency” the innate nature of some people inevitably lead them to employ similar measures—perhaps more often than not. As for the surprise and outrage that many people will bow to authority and follow orders to unjustly harm others as long as it doesn’t immediately affect themselves, that’s human nature as well and has been demonstrated countless times and places throughout history.

You see we can't debate whether or not this 'Emergency Act' is legal and should stand because... it's an Emergency!

Seems like there is a lot of this Government concept of "we can do what ever we want if we declare an emergency" thing going around. Yes most states have special powers for this but it was not the intent to allow dictatorial rule just because an emergency is declared.

One of the biggest hoaxes the past few years have exposed is the false notion of an "Emergency".

I admit, the first month? I fell for it. Had no idea what was going on. After some info started coming out though. No way.

Never again.

Reality Honks Back

Visually, it's a difficult piece to read. Were it me I would've formatted and made a few points differently. I also still prefer the Urban vs. Rural differences explanation ... but take that element and combine it with the Virtuals vs. the Physicals differences explanation and I believe the author gets us several steps closer to the truth of the matter.

It's a long piece and readers are going to have to grind through the first third of it to get to the pay-offs in the middle and end..but it's worth it.

The author quotes from Christopher Lasch’s book The Revolt of the Elites and I found this excerpt particular poignant:

"Control has become their obsession. In their drive to insulate themselves against risk and contingency – against the unpredictable hazards that afflict human life – the thinking classes have seceded not just from the common world around them but from reality itself."

It's also worth noting that the author, N.S. Lyons, doubles back and posts an update in the Comments section of his piece. I've added emphasis in bold.

A small Canada update, via The Economist:

"Mr Trudeau’s government has expressed shock that racist symbols were displayed during the protest. It appears to be planning to reintroduce an “anti-hate” bill that could lead to the imprisonment of people who use racist speech. This could include a clause which would allow individuals to take other people to court if they fear that they may be about to say something which falls under the definition of “hate propaganda”. They could also be charged for contemplating an offence “motivated by bias, prejudice or hate based on race, national or ethnic origin, language, colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other similar factor”."

Hate pre-crimes! Spectacular. I don't think even Mr. Putin or Mr. Xi has not had the audacity to conceive of such a useful measure.
Trudeau's Liberal party is truly trying hard to live up to its namesake.

~~~~~~~~~
I'm wondering how long it would take the Trudeau regime to ram through a Hate pre-crime law while operating under an Emergency Powers Act and a suspended Parliament?
Rather difficult to say at present, since the money markets are currently closed for weekend. But, on January 20, it took $1.25 Canadian to buy $1.00 USA; on Friday (Feb 18), it took $1.275 Canadian to buy $1.00 USA. Fluctuations are normal in markets, so will have to wait to see this week to determine strength of Canadian Dollar.
Ottawa Mayor Announces Cars Seized During Freedom Protests Should be Sold to Cover Costs Incurred by City
The state-controlled CBC reported:
Ottawa’s mayor says any vehicles seized during the police crackdown on the occupation of the downtown should be sold to cover costs incurred by the city.
“We actually have the ability to confiscate those vehicles and sell them,” Mayor Jim Watson said Saturday.
“And I want to see them sold. I don’t want the return to these people who’ve been causing such frustration and angst in our community.”
The mayor told CBC News that Ottawa has that power due to the Emergencies Act, which was invoked by the federal government last week.
Watson said he’s been pleased by the level of professionalism shown by law enforcement since officers began stepping up their efforts Friday to clear the protest. But he also said he worries about demonstrators who have been “taunting police, being completely irresponsible, and don’t want to seem to leave.”
Police officers from several forces across the country retook Wellington Street from protesters Saturday, clearing the crowd around the National War Memorial, herding them away from the parliamentary precinct and then down O’Connor Street.
As of Saturday afternoon, 47 more people had been arrested, bringing the overall total to 170. Dozens of vehicles have also been towed.
On Saturday evening, hundreds of protesters pooled at the corner of Bank and Sparks streets, with a line of officers standing firm.
They were eventually moved south, closer to Queen Street. By 10 p.m., the crowd had significantly thinned out, with fencing installed in the area.
“As night falls, it is unsafe to stay,” Ottawa police tweeted on Saturday. “Get out of the cold and cease further unlawful activity.”
East of downtown, protesters could be seen taking down part of the supply camp they’d set up in a Coventry Road parking lot next to the city-run baseball stadium.
By evening, much of the camp was gone, although some protesters told CBC they planned to regroup elsewhere.
Meanwhile, police said emergency phone lines had been flooded by calls with complaints about the operations underway downtown.
Zexi Li, an Ottawa resident who helped launch a class-action lawsuit against the convoy organizers, said the weekend’s action has been sorely needed as many residents have been distressed for weeks.
“While I think the response is long overdue, it’s definitely a relief either way,” she said.
The suffering that Ottawa residents have endured has been “absolutely unacceptable,” Li said, adding it was downplayed by law enforcement and various levels of government for far too long.
Zexi Li, an Ottawa resident who helped launch a class-action lawsuit against the convoy organizers, says police action is long overdue as many residents have been in distress due to the protesters for days and weeks. 12:30
Watson also said Saturday that independent reviews, already planned on both the federal and municipal levels, are needed to see how the protest spiralled out of control and how to stop similar occupations from happening again.
“You can’t come to Ottawa anymore and shut down our city for four weeks,” he said.
I did. I get the "physicals" and the "virtuals". That and voting map of the US was interesting as well.
So causing "frustration and angst" is grounds for confiscating and selling a person possessions.
From 2015
https://www.huffpost.com/archi...u-dictator_b_6314494
if elected Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau would turn Canada into a dictatorship.
This is the man who admitted he "admires China's basic dictatorship." It wasn't just a sarcastic comment - he seriously said that he admires the dictatorship because they can get things done quickly.
And it's becoming clearer that Trudeau not only admires the dictatorship -- he runs the Liberal Party like one too.
The result is that Liberal MPs who dare question the diktat of Trudeau are being punished. Those who dare disagree have already been punished, resigned, or indicated that they won't seek another term in office -- at least not under the iron fist of Trudeau.
The Liberal Party under Justin Trudeau has become a dictatorship. The leader of that party does what he wants, when he wants, and no one dares question him.
Could Prime Minister Trudeau be trusted to make decisions for the good of the country, not just for his personal self-worth?
Would Trudeau call in the police to enforce his vision?
Let's hope we never have the opportunity to ask those questions.
