...One SUV carrying nurses and medical supplies was surrounded by armed police and a window of the vehicle was smashed, outside the secure area. When the police searched the vehicle and confirmed there were no weapons, they let the protesters continue their journey - and gave them information about how to get the window repaired. There were no arrests....

I wonder how much traction could be built for a general strike if voices like Jordan Peterson and Viva Frei started calling for it.

It just occurred to me that all these leftists that screamed bloody murder about “tyrant“ Trump threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act during that awful summer of 2020, they are awfully, awfully quiet today with the events in Canada unfolding.

Roll Eyes

Does anyone remember all of the Government officials, media, and leftists that backed Antifa and BLM when they were shutting down freeways in major cities across America?

How about when Antifa and BLM took over a major section of Portland and kicked everyone out that didn't agree with them?

Anyone remember that little broohaa in Wisconsin where many buildings burned?

How about all of the marches and protests that shut down major city streets that were not only supported, but attended by Democratic leaders?

It was all ok then.... but how DARE anyone protest the liberal agenda? You're a terrorist, and enemy of the people and the State. Hmmmmm that sounds familiar. Where have I heard that before?

Parliament suspended.

Parliament SUSPENDS debate on Trudeau's Emergency Act over fears for MPs' safety as hundreds of police descend on Freedom Convoy in capital city's 'no-go' zone

MPs were told on Thurday night that due to the 'exceptional circumstances' of police operation in Ottawa, Parliament would be suspended.

You see we can't debate whether or not this 'Emergency Act' is legal and should stand because... it's an Emergency!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

A general strike can't work. All of the liberal voters, currently sitting at home, will fill in for the missing workers.

Anyone knowledgeable about Canada's parliamentary government know who, or how, the decision is made to suspend Parliament debate?

Does the ruling party unilaterally decide? A simple majority vote of all members? Prime Minister makes the decision?

So the cowards in Canada's govt simply shut down and go home?

A decision to avoid a decision is STILL a decision.

The general strike stategy would be the most effective with little harm to those participating.

If the truckers just go home quietly, and stay home until the mandate is rescinded, how long will it be until Trudeau figures out the cause of shortages?
I truly believe that stupid POS would allow Canada to starve before he opted to re-think his position. This is a petulant child the truckers are dealing with, not a man who grasps anything close to what character and integrity and a sense of responsibility to those he was elected to represent means. Regardless, the truckers need to band together as a group and park their trucks for the next couple months to try and communicate to the rest of parliament who has the 'real' power. Maybe if they get hungry enough, they'll pull their heads out of their collective asses and start functioning as human beings again.

God the cowardice in these people is beyond belief. I don't think a single man in parliament has a nut. Wow!

Trudeau's Totalitarian Turn

The Canadian PM is desperate for his own 6 January moment

Judging by his behaviour, Trudeau has been hoping for some kind of violence ever since the truckers’ movement started. He needed something, anything that could serve as a Canadian 6 January moment so as to arrogate even more dictatorial powers than Canada’s existing state of emergency allowed. But despite constant provocation, truckers gave him nothing to work with. Even the efforts of Canada’s finest state-subsidised creative writers (the mainstream media) couldn’t spin this thing — in all its bouncy-castle, dance-party, hot-tubbified glory — into a believable insurrection
