Out of all the attempts of humor in this movie I think the dumbest one was the ironing of the uniforms scene. Really stupid.

Please note: I'm not saying it was the dumbest thing in the movie....just the dumbest attempt at humor.

I think it was about 2/3 in. It started with a close, showing a steaming object being lowered. Making it look like a large mechanical device. Then it pans out and the thing you thought was a large ram or something is actually an iron being held by a droid, ironing uniforms.
Think it was when Fin and that girl stole uniforms on Snoke's ship.

Of course HuffPost LOVES this movie, main reason that it is so "inclusive", also claiming online backlash against the film by the "alt-right" Roll Eyes. I will not link this manure to this forum.

Well you knew that was coming. Those detractors hating this movie would be those luddite white-males. Roll Eyes

Sorry, just those who appreciate the SW Universe for what it is, and not making changes for the sake of change as Rian Johnson has apparently justified for this abortion of a movie.

I took my son to see it and it was not bad. I am not knocking this but there seems to be more female leads in this movie. I hope Luke is not over and done yet.

saw it a few days ago,

question is, did Fin mop every floor in every Imperial ship, base, and or facility?

and if they have droids doing laundry, why would a Stormtrooper have to mop?

I will not be seeing this "Political Correctness in Space" film. I MAY watch it On Demand to laugh at it though.

There was a line in The Force Awakens that states that one or many of the troopers--maybe Finn--was trained from birth. So does that mean they're still using clones?

No clones. They’re conscripting kids I guess.

Saw it again last night and was thinking. There was no back story or anything on snoke which has a lot of people upset. But in the original trilogy there is no back story on Palpatine. You get that in the prequels and books.

Exactly. The clones were a stop-gap measure by the Republic / Empire to bolster their troop levels quickly. If you notice, in A New Hope, Stormtroopers already sounded differently and look to be of differing heights as well. There was some mention I read somewhere of their still being some clone troopers serving up to and including ROTJ, but they were definitely in the minority.

From Wookieepedia:

Although the exact rate at which clones aged is unknown, it appears to be nearly twice as fast a natural-born Human and it is theorized that this rate increased as clones grew older—especially under stress, thus leading to a dramatic shortening of the clones' life expectancy.

Life long Star Wars fan here. Saw the movie yesterday with the family (I had already bought tickets) and I can honestly say that I have mixed feelings about it. Some I liked and some I didn't, but I'm still digesting it as a whole though. Doesn't help that I've been under the weather the past couple of days, so the cold meds may have altered my perception of certain things or maybe it was just my attenuation level of the Force. Wink

It wouldn't really make any sense to use anything other than droids for combat, on land or in space. It would be more realistic to have armies and fleets like the trade federation where it's pretty much 100% droids.

Saw it yesterday and liked it.

Didn't Like:

The whole Finn/Rose adventure on the casino planet could be cut out and nobody would miss it. It's like they didn't know what to do with Finn in this movie and came up with that bit just to have him in there somewhere. I would rather he had sought to train with Luke alongside Rey. :/

Leia using the Force to get back to the ship could have been done better but I didn't hate it. I agree with others here that having her pilot the ship into the Imperial fleet at light speed would have been the way for her to go.

Didn't like the Matrix style dodge Luke did in the fight vs Kylo. That shit is corny as hell and I hate seeing it in Star Wars. Worst part of the movie right there, IMO.

Qui Gon and Obi Wan vs Darth Maul / Luke vs Vader / Obi Wan vs Anakin/ (old) Obi Wan vs Darth were far better lightsaber battles than what we got in this movie. Snoke's guards didn't look that formidable to me. Rey & Kylo looked like they were playing down to the level of their competition. Obi Wan or Darth Maul would have torn their asses up in a few seconds.

I'm not bothered by more women and POC in prominent Star Wars roles. Whoever they put in there need to be good actors and give them good characters to portray, though. Rose and Laura Dern's characters were forgettable and could have been left out. Rey kicks ass IMO, and will be a Jedi Master eventually. I'd like to see some non human Jedi/Sith in future films, preferably not CG characters. Hopefully, Kylo Ren will have an apprentice in the next movie.

Liked it overall, but less than TFA, and I noticed there was no applause in the theater afterward like there was after TFA.

I'm still hoping for another single player Knights of the Old Republic video game from BioWare or Obsidian.

OK, I want those 2.5 hours back!

By far, the worst Star Wars movie. This is even worse than the prequels, worst than all 3!

What I hated the most:

Leia's space flight. That looked like the wicked witch of the west from Wizard of Oz.

That whole casino thing was just stupid.

I understand that Disney needs to sell merchandise but the cute animals everywhere was to blatant.

That HUGE SHIP cannot destroy that rebel ship?! They are chasing that small ship thru the whole movie!

This movie is based on Luke's brief moment of weakness when he "saw" too much darkness in Kylo's sleeping mind that he wanted to kill him in his sleep! Just stupid.

It was just a train wreck of a movie that I will not see again. Really disappointed.

Just saw it today with the kids.

Basically Yoda tells Luke he's been a whiny bitch for 20 + years... He's basically the "Karate Kid" of Star Wars, never learning from his previous mistakes... and the whole Luke / Ben trigger was stupid and confusing.

Otherwise it was meh - not as bad as 1-3 Prequels, but not great by any stretch.
