The claim now is after kidnapping Whitmer, the group planned to take her somewhere in Wisconsin and try her for Treason.
Which seems really.... Far fetched.
And they had supposedly detonated explosives training for the kidnapping.

Over the years I've had a few run-ins with guys from the Michigan Militia. As you might expect they're a bunch of military wanna be's, wash outs, or didn't qualify, and a best described as fruit loops in cammie's with life time subscriptions to Soldier of Fortune.

When you call them to help with your plot, and they run right to the FBI and help stop you, you are a special kind of crazy....

Interesting though that the group Whitmer broadly blamed for doing it, were the ones who stopped it.

One of 13 charged in plot to kidnap Gov. Whitmer was pardoned last year by Delaware governor

https://www.washingtonexaminer...by-delaware-governor

A man suspected of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was pardoned by Delaware's Democratic governor last year.

Delaware Gov. John Carney signed a pardon in 2019 for Barry Gordon Croft Jr., who has now been charged in a foiled plot to kidnap Whitmer, according to Delaware Online.

Croft, 44, was pardoned for various charges, including assault, burglary, and the possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, that resulted from a string of crimes committed in the mid-1990s.

Carney confirmed the pardon Friday, saying through a spokesman that Croft’s new federal charges were “disturbing” and that everyone allegedly involved in the plot should be "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced the arrests of 13 people this week as part of a plot by “militia members” to kidnap Whitmer, who they viewed as a “tyrant.”

"Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor," the FBI affidavit read. "The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message."

Attorney General William Barr called the plot “abhorrent.”

Court rules DC church can hold outdoor services after being denied permit

https://www.washingtonexaminer...hv4K2IFp_uUVuXaVuDuY

A federal court has ruled that a church in Washington, D.C., is allowed to resume large outdoor services after it was denied a permit by the city.

Judge Trevor McFadden of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a preliminary injunction on Friday. The Capitol Hill Baptist Church filed a lawsuit against Mayor Muriel Bowser and the city after its request for a permit for 850 people was refused.

Since being denied a permit, the church has been holding services in a field in Virginia, according to the Washington Post. McFadden’s preliminary injunction allows churchgoers to return to Washington and hold their services outdoors while the lawsuit proceeds.

Washington, D.C., has placed a ban on indoor or outdoor religious gatherings of more than 100 people in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. Despite that, thousands of people have congregated around the District in mass gatherings to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Bowser has attended and encouraged such events.

The church argued that it was being discriminated against, given the mayor’s support for large outdoor protests being held over the past few months. McFadden concurred with the church and said Washington’s support for recent protests “undermines its contention that it has a compelling interest in capping the number of attendees at the Church’s outdoor services.”

“The Mayor’s apparent encouragement of these protests also implies that the District favors some gatherings (protests) over others (religious services),” the judge added in his Friday ruling.

The decision only applies to Capitol Hill Baptist Church as it did not involve a class-action lawsuit. The church announced the ruling and celebrated its ability to return to the nation’s capital in a news release.

“With this ruling, our government is restoring equity by extending to religious gatherings the same protections that have been afforded other similar gatherings during this pandemic,” the church said. “We trust that this will be a blessing not only to our congregation but to the rest of our neighbors in DC.”

“Our congregation continues to pray for God’s mercy in ending the ongoing pandemic,” it added.

While our governor has been reasonable, the mayor of Anchorage has been a petty little tyrant.

Now this comes out today. Local TV anchor makes accusations of the mayor's involvement in child pornography. Mayor denies and accuses reporter of being mentally ill. News anchor then releases nude images of the mayor and evidence of him sexting her. Mayor then admits to, "Inappropriate" relationship, apologizes, asks that his and his family's privacy be respected as he works on the issues affecting the city for the remainder of his term (which isn't over until spring). News anchor then arrested on assault charges at the station after an argument with the station manager. Just truly proves how unhinged the mayor really is, and no you cannot make this shit up.

Anchorage mayor admits to ‘inappropriate messaging relationship’ with news anchor
pencil Author: Michelle Theriault Boots clock Updated: 2 hours ago calendar Published 11 hours ago

Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz apologized Monday for what he termed a “consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship” with Anchorage news anchor Maureen “Maria” Athens.

“I apologize to the people of Anchorage for a major lapse in judgment I made several years ago when I had a consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship with reporter Maria Athens,” Berkowitz wrote in a statement Monday. “I’m embarrassed and ashamed for the hurt I’ve caused my family and our community. I take responsibility for my actions.”

Athens, an anchor/reporter for stations KTBY and KYUR, had posted unsubstantiated allegations against Berkowitz on social media Friday that included a purported nude photo of the mayor. The video, the photo and accounts of them were shared and commented on thousands of times.

Athens was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct later that day after a physical fight at the TV station on East Tudor Road.

Berkowitz, who is married, has not responded to questions about why he didn’t acknowledge his relationship with Athens on Friday, when the city sent out a statement calling her “hostile and unwell” or over the weekend as attention mounted and allies publicly defended him.

Athens, 41, was the main anchor for the two stations, which operate jointly as Your Alaska Link. She had interviewed Berkowitz repeatedly in 2017 and 2018 for segments on topics such as “Take Your Dog to Work Day” and an Anchorage Police Department graduation.

On Friday just after noon, she posted a video for her more than 2,000 Facebook followers promoting what she said would be an “exclusive” story about the mayor. She presented an unsourced allegation about the mayor, accusing him of what would be an illegal act of posting an inappropriate photo on what she termed an “underage girl’s website.”

The Anchorage Police Department later issued a statement that said, “We are aware of the allegations made by Ms. Athens about the Mayor. We have investigated the allegations with our partners at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The investigation has found no evidence of criminal conduct.”
The video appeared to be filmed with a cell phone inside a news station control room by someone other than Athens. The post immediately began to spread across social media, with hundreds of comments — some questioning her lack of sourcing for the claims and others saying they believed them.

That afternoon, Berkowitz’s office issued a statement, that said: “The slanderous allegations from Your Alaska Link reporter Maria Athens are categorically false and appear to be the product of someone who is hostile and unwell. We spoke with Ms. Athens' employer, general manager Scott Centers, who emphatically disavowed his employee’s comments.”

Shortly after the mayor’s statement was issued, Athens twice posted a nude photo she said pictured the mayor, which also spread across social media as well.

Bill Fielder, the Atlanta-based owner of the TV station, said Monday that Athens had not asked permission before she made the social media posts, and had been asked to remove “any mention or affiliation with our stations.”

Late Friday afternoon, Athens got into a physical fight with her station manager boss, with whom she was in a romantic relationship, according to court documents.

A charging document in the case says Athens and station general manager Scott Centers fought in a car “about work,” with Athens punching Centers and hitting him with her cell phone. Later, Athens allegedly hit Centers again inside the TV station. When police arrived at the TV station and arrested her, she hit a cop on his vest and tried to kick the doors of the police cruiser, causing police to put her in full restraints, the charging document said.

Athens was charged with misdemeanor assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct and jailed at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center.
At her court appearance Saturday afternoon, Athens interjected repeatedly, despite admonitions from the judge and her attorney to keep quiet. She said she needed to get back to work Monday to anchor the news. The prosecutor told the judge she’d trespassed on the TV station property.

“I have pancreatitis!” she said at one point.

Athens did not post her $100 bail until Sunday.

By Monday, the video and photos Athens posted about Berkowitz continued to spread across social media channels.

Her status at the station was unclear Monday. Centers, the general manager, has repeated declined to comment on the situation since Friday.

In his statement Monday, Berkowitz said, “It takes time to rebuild trust and I hope you afford me the opportunity to do so. During the remaining months of my term, I will continue working on the important issues we face. Please consider my family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

Berkowitz was elected Anchorage mayor in 2015 and reelected in 2018. He is barred by term limits from running again for mayor when his term ends next spring. In Monday’s statement, he indicated that he did not plan to resign.

Berkowitz did not respond to questions from the Daily News until his statement just after 4 p.m. acknowledging an “inappropriate” relationship.

We're not alone; the entire herd grows restless and the self-appointed cowboys grow nervous despite repeatedly assuring the herd that they understand lightning storms much better than they did but still lack the tools to deal with the storms. From today's Wall Street Journal, pages A1 and A7:

quote:
Officials Shy Away From New Lockdowns
Drew Henshaw

Officials are reluctant to force another round of nation-wide lockdowns of the sort imposed in March as Covid-19 cases surge across large parts of Europe and the U.S.

Public health experts broadly and increasingly agree, with some worried that the general public won't cooperate with another months-long, generalized lockdown against a disease whose transmission is now much better understood.

The World Health Organization has long favored interventions that come with less economic and social disruption than lockdowns, recommending that governments pursue a strategy, called "test, trace, isolate," of sequestering people exposed to the virus. Western governments have found themselves with too few tests and not enough contact-tracing staff to follow that plan of action.

The United Nations agency isn't alone. Thousands of public health experts in the past two weeks have signed an open letter, according to its authors, asking governments to shield the most vulnerable parts of their population and allow youth [sic - IC] and healthy people to attain herd immunity. The authors of the letter, called the Great Barrington Declaration, say they have pressed their case in discussions with U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"The opinion of public-health [pg. A7] experts is changing very rapidly," said Jayanta Bhattacharya, a professor of medicine at Stanford University who is one of the co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration. "In March, I felt alone. [Now] I think there are a very large number of public-health experts, epidemiologists, and doctors who oppose further lockdowns."

In recent days, WHO leaders and other public-health authorities have become more vocal in their encouragements that governments could do more to improve public-safety measures that would reduce the need or a second round of nationwide lockdowns.

"What we want to try and avoiud, and sometimes it's unavoidable, we accept that, but what we want to try to avoid are these massive lockdowns that are so punishing to communities, to societies and everything else," Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO health emergencies program, told reporters on Friday.

Their views aren't universally shared among epidemiologists, some of whom doubt whether immunity to Covid-19 lasts longer than a few months. The virus has proven often debilitating, and sometimes fatal, among the young and the fit. The U.K.'s brief attempt to pursue a herd-immunity strategy became unfeasible, as hospitals overloaded and even relatively healthy people fell seriously ill - among them, Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Still, where public-health experts increasingly agree - including critics of the Great Barrington Declaration - is that the broad, monthslong lockdowns imposed in March may be too unpopular to sustain. Experts who backed lockdowns in the spring now worry another round could backfire if the public ceases to comply. [emphasis added - IC]

Even proponents of more lockdowns are generally pushing for briefer, more targeted closures, dubbed circuit-breakers, in which governments would shut specific buisnesses for two or three weeks.

[Lots of Europe-specific stuff excised for the sake of brevity. The Europeans have been chauvinist assholes about the whole thing anyway.]

For everyone who's finally decided that the WHO's handling of this mess is a very bad joke, here's what I think is the punchline: Their ambitions and their theorizing are finally being reined in because the 'experts' have been forced to recognize the limitations of what is, objectively speaking, possible. The 'experts' are telling themselves that they're growing more and more comfortable with this because they can tell themselves they "understand the Kung Flu better" - despite the fact that the article (and presumably the experts) can't quite point to how their better understanding of the problem is actually shaping their recommendations. IOW, the self-appointed cowboys have been forced to feed, water and rest their horses 'cause their remudas aren't infinite and Cookie won't climb out of the bottle he's been soaking in long enough to put breakfast together.

And he's gone! Can I get a hallelujah?

This story keeps getting more bizarre. I'm sure there's more to come. But lost in all of the juicy details is the fact that the Anchorage City Councl last night voted to extend the mayor's power for issuing executive orders until November 30th. The mayor just resigned, he's out of a job in 10 days, but yet the City Council voted to extend the powers anyway.

Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announces resignation

By Elizabeth Roman and Matt Leseman
Published: Oct. 13, 2020 at 5:18 PM AKDT|Updated: 10 hours ago
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announced his resignation Tuesday evening. It will go into effect Oct. 23 at 6 p.m., according to a release from the mayor’s office.

“It is with profound sadness and humility that I resign as Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage,” Berkowitz said in a prepared statement. “My resignation results from unacceptable personal conduct that has compromised my ability to perform my duties with the focus and trust that is required. I know my conduct has done great injury to my family, my staff, to Municipal employees, and to the people of our community, and for that, I am deeply sorry.”

The resignation was first announced at Tuesday night’s Anchorage Assembly meeting. Berkowitz was not in attendance, but his chief of staff, Jason Bockenstedt, read it aloud to applause and cheers from those in attendance.

Officials explained that once the resignation goes into effect, the current chair of the assembly will take over as acting mayor. The current chair is Assembly Member Felix Rivera, though members can vote to reorganize and choose a new chair before Berkowitz’s resignation takes effect.

During the meeting, Assembly Member Jamie Allard motioned to reorganize, but it failed 8-3.

Berkowitz’s resignation comes the same week he admitted to having an inappropriate, but consensual relationship with local news anchor Maureen “Maria” Athens years ago. Last Friday, Athens took to social media to post claims of alleged illegal internet activity by Berkowitz, accusing the mayor of inappropriately posting nude photos to a website.

The mayor’s office quickly released a statement calling the claims “slanderous” and “categorically false." The Anchorage Police Department confirmed over the weekend that they were aware of the allegations and a joint investigation with the FBI revealed no evidence of criminal conduct, though the FBI on Tuesday added that the Anchorage field office is continuing to monitor the situation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

I bet if it were a muslim gathering then they would've been granted a permit with no issues.

Fucking sick how Christians are discriminated against and even worse that so many people condone that discrimination yet cry when the so called religion of peace is called out for what they are.

Here is a statement by MOC

Michigan Open Carry, Inc

·
As I'm sure everyone is aware this morning the Secretary of State released information that would attempt to ban open carry within 100 feet of a polling location and inside said location.
The great team at MOC has been working all day on this issue, along with our counsel.
We do not feel the SoS has the authority, statutory or constitutional, to make this administrative rule.
We are in the process of exploring all available avenues to rectify this "rule."
Michigan Open Carry has been at the forefront of protecting our right to carry and we will continue that fight.
As more information becomes available we will share it.
Stay tuned!

Michigan Governor Whitmer
appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press" Sunday morning and claimed the president has responsibility in the domestic terrorism plot against her while having a visible pin that read “8645.”

For the record Whitmer has unashamedly supported every push against Trump and even lied to the media about her dealings with him early in the Covid crisis. She openly slammed Trump for not sending Federal aid she requested but failed to mention that her office did not submit the proper paperwork required to initiate that request.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit.
