Stick: https://doxawatches.com/collections/sub-200-t-graph https://doxawatches.com/collec...-aqua-lung-us-divers Take a look at one of these too.. https://fluxwatches.com/lab Dont get me wrong, I've always thought MIDO punches way above their weight as far as price, movement and overall quality... but that one is rather... plain... bland... ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Stick: I think that Mido has a lot of punch for it's price range and think they're a good choice. I've been considering getting a Type A flieger type watch and hear Laco calling me. I have one of their chronograph type fliegers and I'm pleased with it as a less expensive/strong alternative to IWC in this class. OMG!!! Check out the dial and the specs offered on the "Venture" model (three hander) by the microbrand Farer!!! For only $1220.00, it's a terrific deal. Limited offer and they ship in Octorber. https://usd.farer.com/products/venture "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

[Poking fun] Ermahgerd! They ship in Octorber! [/Poking fun] Seriously, though, that's a great-looking watch, particularly on that strap. Classy and casual at the same time. They give buyers a choice among 12 different straps and a bracelet. I've got a lot of 20mm straps that'd look good on this watch. Worth the wait for October! "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

My Laco Stuttgart (Flieger) Pro arrived yesterday. 43mm, with a Type "A" dial. Simple to read/clean dial. It can even be ordered with a "sanitized" (no writing) dial, if the purchaser wants. Very nice, I'd opt for the numbers, I think. Looks good that way. The Enemy's gate is down.

Gave in to temptation and got my first “don’t have to build it, modify it, or anything more than pull out a few links” watch. Saw them inline and they looked kind of nice, had decent reviews, and plus it was a crappy week at work. The Spinnaker Bradner, they call this the Clover Wave. Miyota 8215 automatic, which is weird for me, I’m normally a Seiko movement guy. 42mm, but it wears way smaller. Tall case, but the lugs curve down enough that it doesn’t feel chunky. The crown at 2 rotates the inner bezel, the one at 4 is the movement. And the beads of rice bracelet is very nice, both looks and feel. At $350 if I remember right, if it keeps time well enough, I’m going to be pretty happy! Heck, it’s a new watch. Of course I’m going to be happy, I’m not crazy or anything… Bill R

Beautiful dial with a solid movement and very good price. What's not to like? You made a great choice and hopefully this week will go better for you! "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

Here’s hoping! “Be a sergeant” they said. “It’ll be fun” they said. “We’ll pay you extra” they said… Well, on the bright side, one of my guys gave and bought himself a green Alpinist the other day, so at least there’s hope for some of them! Bill R

The job was a lot more fun when the only officer I had to worry about was me, but promoting to sergeant did give an opportunity to pass down some of the things I'd learned to newbies and the pay certainly made a difference after I'd retired. Funny thing, I never even thought about horology before promoting (just wore a Casio Databank back then), but I found it interesting that several other supervisors wore Rolex Submariners or Sea Dwellers. Of course back then (2002-2008), these were still tool watches and didn't have the cache they do today. Surprising how many of these guys show up at our annual retirees' reunion and are into horology. To be fair… the young kids we have coming in the last few hires have been great, really make me believe again, considering where I live! Couple of 20 somethings who have been absolute rock stars getting after it. And actually making good, solid common sense decisions. Like I only get woke up once or twice on the days off common sense. Nope, it’s the 30 year guy causing all the heartache. He was my FTO and now I have to kick his ass around for general dumbfuckery… Oh well, the dude who went with the Alpinist is squarely in my sights as the next victim of the three stripes club. Super squared away dude. As his watch choice would indicate! Bill R

You mean Street Ho, Hooker, Call Girl, Escort? I’m pretty lucky with being a Sgt. I have a great Team! It took me a while to get them there. Don’t get me wrong, they still have some “feral cat” in them, but they’re on point 90-95% of the time. I’m also extremely lucky in that I have some awesome other Sgts and Lt, my Captain has about 4 days left, and that’s going to be a huge hit to the District, my District Commander and Area Deputy Chief are awesome as well. It’s everyone above that… uuggg…. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. My wife is at a conference/work trip in Atlantic Beach NC so I tagged along. I am kicking myself for not brining a surfboard or kayak on this trip. The waves are small but would still be fun on a longboard. This is my first time taking the Longines to the beach. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Is it me or have prices on stuff gone up a BUNCH in the past year? IWC Big Pilot is up like $1,500. Glaschutte prices have skyrocketed. Dang! __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.
