I hate it when you guys are right!

I explained that if he wants a Helm, he needs to figure it out soon, and it might be here in a few months.

He’s leaning towards a Seiko.

Can’t go wrong there.

The Batman GMT he mentioned is pretty sweet. I think an SKX007 or SRPL13 (Samurai) would be a great, practical “everyday, but still ‘dressy enough’” watch, too.

Or a nice Monster. Wink
The Samurai is probably my favorite in that range.

I'll get him the first, but he's on his own after that! Wink

Vthoky- Agreed! I showed him the "quick release" strap pins, and NATO / Canvas straps. Dress it up or down.
He digs the little things like that. I think I'm creating another monster!

P250- He's looked at a lot of the Seiko line, Helms, Timex, Citizens...
He's really diggin' that Batman.
Looks like I gotta call my guy this week.

I have a Marathon Tsar. Love it. Wish I would have gotten the automatic version. I understand inflation and price increases due to other concerns, but Marathon's price increases of late seems a bit drastic.

When I acquired my Submariner back in May, the plan was to sell a few watches to recoup some of the spent money. While Rolex has a great resale value, Omega, Longines and IWC do not. I just can’t part with those watches for half of what I paid.

Our son came to visit with his wife. It was a great time. This seemed like a perfect opportunity to do something with the Omega. I spent a lot of time each evening after work, taping off parts of the watch and polishing the polished parts and sanding the brushed parts. The Omega looked brand new again. I know my son had been looking at some watches, specifically a Longines when he was in Italy, but he said he couldn’t pull the trigger for $1800 for a watch. I gave him the Omega, with box and cards and the extra Omega rubber strap with deployant buckle.

He was incredibly happy and appreciative.

Here are a few pics of the Omega I gifted him. (Older photos)

I’ve stayed out of this thread for almost a month as you guys post up a lot of temptation.

Very nice, looks great with the white face, which isn't typically my top choice.

Sort of watch related… I picked out a vanity plate for my car. I’m sure the watch geeks here will figure out the meaning.

I was looking for something watch related. That was the best I could come up with. Those who know “The Holy Trinity” of watches will get it. Those who don’t, won’t.

I had looked at ESCPMNT, but something about it just wasn’t right. Everything else I wanted was taken. This was available so I took it.

PP = Patek Phillipe
AP = Audemars Piguet
VC = Vacheron Constantin

Not sure if the spelling is correct.

One more to add though Smile

That white dial Omega is (and will forever remain) a CLASSIC and I'm sure your son will treasure it!

For those who aren't familiar with Erika's Original straps; these are really well made, comfortable, secure, and offer a wide variety of colors. While not inexpensive, I really think they're worth the price and I just put one on my Oris "Coulson (firefighting) Limited Edition."
