I think I found the perfect bezel insert for the Seiko Zimbe no. 4 aka the Thanos. Hahaha that’s a goofy nickname.

The blue ties in with the dial and I like the use of silver and gold on the insert.

Unfortunately the only way to get this dial is to get another fricking Zimbe.

It’s like Seiko mixed and matched a few of these and intentionally fucked them up hoping people would notice their mistake and the potential there thus encouraging people buy more Zimbes to assemble properly. Big Grin

The Zimbe number 18. Ref: SPB425J1

Though to be fair this one is perfect as it is and doesn’t need to be modded. I really like it and would feel awful getting one to harvest its bezel insert.

Strangely enough I put a blue bezel insert thats a little to big over my purple insert and didn’t like it. I think I’ve gotten used to the purple!!! Eek

Damnit Stick, you're gonna make me buy that watch, aren't you! Wink

Nope, no sir, you're not an enabler at all! Big Grin

I remember the bike crash a while back. You were banged up pretty good, but you were more pissed about the watch.

I just received a couple new straps from "The Strap Tailor" (UK based) for my Grand Seiko SBGE275. Shown is a "Neon Blue" ostrich hide straap with creme stitching and equipped with quick quick release pins, which I'll be ordering with all my "bespoke" leather straps in the future. I only wish I'd been doing this from the start. It's great to be able to switch these out so easily!

In no special order, I'd highly recommend custom leather straps from The StrapSmith, The Strap Tailor, and Michael Knapp Leather to those wanting to dress up their timepieces. While I love using NATOs, there's some watches and occasions that just beg for bringing things to a dressier level and these guys really do a great job.

At work with the Deep Blue…

It’s my regular work watch, but struck me that on the boat (our last day running it for the year) it actually makes sense.

That said, I’m hoping to get through the shift without actually checking the 300 meter rating!

The Deep Blues are my go-to watches for EDC wear. Great quality for the outlay!

Early this month my watch collection and enthusiasm started in earnest. Robert / tschiemer, had a listing in the classifieds here for a Tudor dive watch. I learned so much speaking with him that I caught his enthusiasm for watches. And here I am fascinated and motivated by all things dive watches. He is a great guy to deal with and is a pleasure to get to know. He has been very free with his knowledge and enthusiasm which I greatly appreciate. This thread, like so many others on sigforum has been wonderful reading and viewing, thank you for it.

Just a quick cellphone shot for now, but the Orange Frog arrived today from Mr. Stickman, and this thing is pretty cool. My first “bright” watch, but within about ten seconds of opening the box, I got an orange NATO strap ordered, and I am going all out…

It’s a very comfortable watch on the bracelet, and although smaller than most of mine in terms of dial size, the bright color makes it read as larger than it actually is, and the smaller size, along with the nice curved case shape, make it very comfortable to wear.

Well, the Steinhart arrived just now. First GMT watch and also first titanium watch as well for me. Definitely like the different look of it. Just a hair smaller than my Glashutte and most likely my Planet Ocean (will compare when I get home). I got something else different coming in on Thursday from another new to me brand. Didn't plan on buying that one but some of you on here have the brand and had good things to say about it so I splurged on it.

Awesome! Did you go with the 42mm?

I’ve been wearing my Zimbe & Doxa so much this week that my Steinhart Phantom 39’s power reserve just ran out completely. That’s the first time it’s happened since I bought it! Meaning it’s basically been on my wrist for a bit every 24-36 hours for weeks! That’s a heck of an endorsement from someone who typically rotates through a lot of watches. Eek

These Phantom watches are a true joy to own. The anti reflective coating really pops under blue skies!

Based in no small part on the discussions in this thread, I purchased a Deep Blue. While I find is somewhat attractive and reliable, the DAMN THING IS HUGE! I was not prepared for the reality of a watch that thick. I have smaller wrists, so 38-39 is my sweet spot. I can stretch to 40, but at 15mm thick, it feels like a toaster strapped to my wrist. the search continues.

Pulicords, that GS is just gorgeous. It looks REALLY good on that Neon Blue ostrich hide strap.

It is in my eyes one of the most beautiful watches ever made.

Man. That looks better than I imagined an all orange watch/strap combo could be. Nicely done.

I was a bit reluctant at first, and was thinking either a plain black or maybe OD, or even leaving the bracelet on, even though I am not a fan of bracelets for my work watches.

But I figured it was $15 and I was getting another strap anyway, and so…

Definitely was a good move! I wouldn’t have ever thought I would do a bright color strap, but this combo is “just right”.

Holy cow!
Show me something like that, and I'll start hoping stickman forgets he lent me his orange Samurai! Razz

(I'll get that back to you shortly, stickman. Thank you very much for the lend!)

God bless America.

I’m in no hurry to get it back. Borrow it until you get bored with it VThoky. Smile Hopefully next time we meet up at our local AD I can walk out with a Shogun. I think I decided on the dial I like most. I’d love to get that Titanium GS we looked at. I mean REALLY like to get that one but that baby was ehhh just a bit expensive and then some. Maybe some day. It was priced on par with a Rolex Submariner but to me it is a vastly superior time piece compared to the Rolex.

357fuzz that orange NATO looks fantastic! I’m definitely going to have to get a strap like that for my Orange Doxa. Cool

Stick, yeah I have to go 42 or bigger for my wrist. Anything smaller looks out of place. How is the lume on yours? Mine is like non existent even when charged by sun or bright flashlight. Only real negative I can say on this watch. Almost makes me think they forgot to put it on it's that weak. It looks nothing like the lume pic on the Gnomon site.

Here's a pic comparing size to my Planet Ocean. Lug to lug is the same so it looks closer in size compared to slightly larger GO SeaQ.
