Just got this yesterday from a small auction house that usually under promises & over delivers. Boy did they ever!

1957 Tudor ref 7911

Original dial & hands, must have been in a drawer for most of its 63 years. Wears bigger than 31mm.

I waited too long to pull the trigger on the Omega Seamaster I was so fond of. It’s jumped into ludicrous territory as far as watches go... (now north of $4,000 Eek) The Ball fireman Storm Chaser is however a watch I have fancied for a long while and with the deals being run right now it’s calling my name.

A 100m chrono with a neat dial, lots of gas filled tritium vials, a great movement and ehhh unique case back is pretty dang tempting for the money. I wish it didn’t have a mobile Doppler thing on it, a display case back would be better but from a utility perspective the solid case back is stronger.

Hmmmm

Honestly I don’t see myself buying but maybe one more premium watch and right now I am torn between a Doxa and a Seamaster. My brain is saying Doxa but my heart is saying Omega.....

Prob aquamarine but maybe in Orange (I’ve had rotten luck wearing orange watches)

Or this

Decisions decisions ....

Bought a Crown and Buckle Supreme NATO in aqua, thinking it would be a good match for the dial on this one. It is, in fact, a perfect match. Both the dial and the strap are a lighter blue than the picture shows. Quite pleased with the C&B, excellent quality, and it doesn’t sit too proud on the wrist, at least for me so far.

IIRC, Doxa uses an ETA, whereas the Omega uses a coaxial. Obviously coaxial is head and shoulders better.

That said, for me personally, very few Omegas are visually appealing. Add to that, I prefer strength in a watch very much and I do not, or have not seen an Omega I would trust that way.

That Doxa is very sexy! Beads of rice bracelet, fabulous 70's styling...

Watches are such a personal thing. If I win the lotto, I plan on a suite of Doxas in various colors and depth rating.

Whoa P220 Smudge! That NATO really transforms the look of the Voyager quite a bit! I like it on that strap!

I agree with Snapping Twig about watches being a very personal thing. He cites strength (ruggedness) as a key attraction to a brand. I completely agree which is why I have a number of Sinn watches. I would also add clarity of the display. Most all the rest I have on hand follow a similar prerequisite be they chronos, divers, or GMTs. Big Grin

Thanks, me too. Yeah, it's eye-catching. I got a random compliment on it last night at the grocery store. That's a first! Big Grin

You make a good point which I had overlooked. Readability.

As my eyes age I appreciate something I can read at a glance. Truth be told, silver on silver with silver made the Yacht-Master more difficult to read at a glance without getting a reflection from the hands or of course glowing at night.

What I really like about the Sinn 206 is while the dial has a lot going on, you can read it easily.

My other easy read is a Marinemaster. Add to the easy to read dial, the lume. You could read a book by it. Reminds me of those old Belfast wall clocks.

My husband found this today on a school roof (he's HVAC). It wasn't there a month ago when he serviced a different machine. Obviously, it's a bit beat up and not an expensive model, but does anyone know anything about this sucker?

A quick search on the model number (the number under the “Base Metal” stamp) shows it’s a late 90’s model, and a few clean examples on fleabay right around $100.

Took the Duro camping. Nice to have a diver I don’t have to worry about beating up a bit. I was initially unimpressed with the lume, but it shone bright enough to read it all night long. I know that because I woke up seemingly every twenty minutes. Definitely prefer it on a NATO. I think 45mm is my upper limit on case size.

Watch folks, as a seller - which platform do you prefer?

I want to sell a pair (both from Bill Yao, both Quad 10s, maybe worth as much as a grand each by now) and maximize my net / minimize the hassle.

I'm not a flipper and have only ever bought online, never sold a single watch.

Watchuseek, eBay, ? Suggestions?

Thanks.

I frequent TimeZone and post/sell on there. With WatchRecon scrubbing the forums, no matter where you list, they'll find it. That said, at a grand or so, I'd probably start on SF classifieds. That might get you a sale to a trustworthy fellow member. Worth a week or two to try.

I can say that I have good luck as a buyer on WatchUSeek. They seem to be pretty self policing.

Thanks. Yeah, I bought them both from different Watchuseek users several years ago now.

My post count over there is so low, I need to post ~60x more times before I can post an ad. Smile

Maybe I will post them here first, that's a fine idea.

Thanks much.
