I have a 7750 movement in an O&W Mirage III chrono. Beast of a super chrono movement.

Yeah, the Valjoux 7750 was the first movement we used in watchmaker's school to learn automatic chronographs. It's a nice movement.

The valijoux 7750 watches I had were noisy and finicky to set compared to the ubiquitous Lemania 1500 which I still prefer to this day.

My brother found this old automatic and based on the dial I am assuming some Swiss watch company made this for US forces stationed in Europe 1945-1965. Question is who Bulova,Rolex,???? I have googled and binged and found nothing. Second hand sweeps smooth as silk. Any ideas?

Currently I'm holding at two in my collection. My newer one. Love how this shot turned out. A Zenith El Primero with a 36,000 vibrations per hour movement. Got this last year when I finished my MBA.

And my only remaining vintage (not including my Dad's and Grandad's old watches). An International Watch Company (IWC) Cal 89 from the 1950's.

AAFES (the Army & Air Force Exchange Service) has carried a number of brands of watches in their stores over the years, both stateside and overseas. The one shown may have been a commemorative edition offered to AAFES employees.

The only way to know for sure the brand of yours is to pull the back and check the movement. (Actually that may not reveal the brand, either, since several brands use outsourced movements from ETA, ESA, etc.) My guess, though, is that the one you have is a Bulova.

A Glycine Airman! Had one and foolishly sold it. Beyond my ability to replace these days.

Nice watches!

I would post a pic of my newest IWC, a Da Vinci Chronograph, but it's on its way back to the repair center for the second go. Less than a week after getting it new in late September the chrono function malfunctioned, snagging and bending the sweep second on a notch at 12:00 index.

8 weeks for warranty repair, all of it in a black hole where you have ZERO insight into progress, etc. Got it back Thursday, and on return the chrono minute hand now creeps to about 5 minutes over an hour, without the chrono being run. Reset, same thing.

On a positive, my AD (Manfredi in CT) was as aghast as I was that it would come back like this, and is fast-tracking its second trip into the repair center Monday. We will see.

LOVE the watch, pics to come. Next year.....

PS - r0gue - that watch is gorgeous!

Thanks George! You're lucky to be close to Manfredi, do you know Hilary there?

Rogue, sorry for the thread drift, but I've noticed in several of your pics of fine timepieces your shirts and sweaters.

What brand do you wear?

Whatever I can find that fits. I need "fitted" shirts, and that means about one out of every 500 shirts in a department store are options before we even talk sleeve and neck size.

That's just a light V-neck sweater over a shirt. I think I got it at JC Pennies. Probably paid under $20 on sale. hehe. I used to spend more, but decided it's better bang for the buck to have the freedom to pitch them when they get frayed on the cuffs or fuzzy or (fill in the failure of the cheap clothes here).

Last time I went to Banana Republic, I was disappointed to find them short-cutting their clothes and decided that if it's all going to be junk, I'd buy cheap junk. If it's new and fits, it'll look good. I do find the quality and particularly the material used at the various mall dept. stores to vary. I seek a bit of cashmere or even acrylic mixed with the cotton to get bit better wear in the sweater before it fuzzes. Straight cotton fails (in looks only) quickly.

I like the O&W. I cruise the West Coast Time site often, and before I got my current watch, I nearly picked up one of these with the stainless strap:
