Very nice! I'd had my eye on those for a while. But I decided they would be too big for me. 42mm case and long lugs.

I got a new (to me) watch!

It's a Hamilton 992B made around 1945. Runs like a dream Smile. 992B's are special because they were one of the most precise mechanical pocket watches ever made.

Now - if I can just find the "bar over" version of this for a reasonable price...

That's awesome!

My father gave me my grandfather's pocket watch (an older Waltham) and chain when I graduated from high school. I still remember dad apologizing because it wasn't much, that he had wanted to buy something really nice but couldn't at the time... It may not be worth much monetarily, but to this day that watch is still one of my most cherished possessions.

My dad has his grandfathers' pocket watches. I suppose I'll get one someday. They are both Hamiltons, which, since they were from Lancaster, PA, stands to reason. Hamilton was located there, and in fact, Dad's mother worked for Hamilton as a watchmaker for her whole adult life. Dad has lots of interesting Hamiltons.

In watchmaking school we used Hamiltons and Elgins early on; they were big enough that we could see what we were doing as we developed our eyes. I still enjoy restoring them as a hobby.

Someone posted an Omega beads of rice bracelet they put on their watch. I loved it. Makes me want one, with the watch.

This one is not worth much money. It probably never was.

It is quite tarnished.

It hasn't worked since I have had it and I will never have it fixed.

It has an old leather strap that you can still see where it was tied to a belt.

My grandpa carried it in his pocket, tied to his belt, for most, if not all of my life. He's gone now.

To me it is priceless.
