Called Giraud about an annealer. Was told maybe by late July.

Ordered a bench source that was in stock at grafs.

Making a late supper now, then heading downstairs to load 100 for my first F-class match tomorrow. Should be fun...

Finally broke down and ordered a neck turning kit. Just to make sure all of the necks are the same thickness. Will it matter , unsure. Just another step in my OCD to get my ES numbers as low as possible.

Exx, I think you will enjoy the Benchsource. I love mine. One little thing I did was pick up 2 propane bottle extension hoses from Home Depot. I still use 2 small bottles but they stand on the floor as opposed to hanging off the side.

I've seen that mod listed commonly during my research. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to do that, but probably.

And, I'm off to the match!

What kind of velocity are you seeing with the powder, bullet, and barrel combo?

I've thought about trying that powder, but haven't yet found any on the local shelves.

Thanks,

Loaded up my Berger 185gr Juggernauts for an OCW test.

Cleaned up the bench a bit, changed batteries for the chrony, barometer, and other misc gear items.

Couple days ago, between earaches, measured the oldest son's .308 hunting rifle in prep to start finding some good loads for that.

I order a 32 ACP die set, 1000 count box of 32 ACP bullets, and a spring kit. I have a Savage Model 1907 on the way and I want to be ready.

Loaded some rounds this morning for my win mag brass test. RWS and Norma are going head to head with the Berger 215 hybrid. This round isn't so much an OCW test but a charge weight, velocity and pressure feeler. The RWS brass is quite a bit heavier than anything I've used. Received some excellent tips from Alpine on development. Going to try and feel out the first signs of pressure and see where the speed is at. Then pick which brass is going to move onto the OCW testing. If the weather holds out I should get em down range tomorrow morning.

Decapped all 331 pieces of 6.5x47 brass. Threw a bunch in the stainless tumbler, it'll take 3 runs for a total of 12 hours to clean all of it.

I have a bunch of range brass downstairs I need to sort out, then I need to load a bunch more for the 6.5. Still have 168 pieces of virgin Lapua brass left to get loaded.

Should probably load more 308 too. I think I have 94 bullets left. I have about 160 rounds loaded, but may as well get it all done while I'm at it...

It's raining/storming here today, hence the loading instead of shooting.

Not directly loading related, but tossed together some supports for steel plates this afternoon.

A shop by me was selling some stuff for a guy who is out of shooting. Got a unused/barely used set of RCBS 38special/357 mag die (carbide) for $25 and a Hornaday powder measure with everything including the stand for $20. A good day it was.

So, what's the plan? Screw on additional pieces of pipe, use rebar, or combination?

Not sure what plates you plan for but I hang my 8" round plates on some 5' tall shepard hook pot hangers I found at Tractor Supply. The plates are 3/8" so not too heavy (unless I am carrying all 6 of them back to the range) and the hooks work well.

Just another day in paradise.

I have some 3/4" legs with couplers. Easier to put in the truck this way. Have rebar as well. I think that would work for the 8" plates, but I believe the 1/2 scale IDPA would be a bit heavy.

Total cost about $5ea for all the fittings.

Finished my brass evaluation at the range this morning. RWS was the clear winner. In addition to clocking them and watching for pressure signs, it was a very basic OCW test. So not only have I decided to go with RWS over the Norma, I also have a more focused place to start on the detailed OCW. The RWS also matched the velocity of the Norma with 2 full grains less powder. Have already contacted Warner to get a new neck and shoulder bushing in the works. Next set of days off I'll nail down the powder load Big Grin

A sincere thank you to Alpine for leading me in the right direction !
