Top two, Federal 210M's. What distance did you do the OCW?

I Deal In Lead |
I spent the morning shooting Sporting Clays and did fairly well, but my dumpster diving while there was great. I found 44 28 Gauge once fired empties and 165 .410 bore once fired. I'm in heaven. Now I'm off to reload 20 Gauge and .410 Bore that I shot today.

Thanks , I really wish I could have found some federal primers to try out. As it is I'll head to the range tomorrow with Winchester, CCI and Remington primers (all mag). I have 4 different powder weights with a one grain span. 5 rounds of each weight with each brand primer. We shall see how it goes. I did the OCW testing at 100 yards which gave me about a one grain or so window. I then do some ladder type testing in that window at 600 yards. Xtreme has a 5% off special going on in 9mm. 35.oo/500 124 fp. + only 5.oo shipping. 2k coming to me. That'll get me through the summer I'm sure. Now if I could only find good clean/metering powder.

I made 250 .45 ACP on a single stage. Also made 50 rounds working up a load with a new powder. Turns out it was a flake type powder and that my dispenser didn't care for it at all, so I've decided to sell all six pounds of it and buy something tried and trusted instead.

Today I sold the flake powder and worked up a load using vv N320 under a 200 grain SWC for my 1911, went to the range for testing and it turns out it likes a charge of 4.8 grains the most which is just 0.1 grains above min charge. Stopped by the local fun store and bought 2 more kilos of powder and 1000 LPP. Still no shortage on this side of the pond. Earlier this week I even bought some mini mags since they're back in stores now.

Finished my primer testing and have switched to Remington primers. With the switch and a small tweak to powder charge I got the ES down to 11. Very happy with the results and how the rounds shoot. It's back to work for a few days then I'll do a run of ammo. Hopefully I'll get the GemPro delivered by then. Also going to set up and do some annealing before I start loading. Now if I could just find some H1000 Happiness is having to climb in your car to change your target.

Finished a 30 cal can of 45's. 5 gr Red Dot under 230gr ball. Love this LnL. Have some 9mm hardcast coming in from RMR monday to do another run of AR plinkers. _________________________ Trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up

Shot up a bunch celebrating the 4th today. Finally sorted brass from the last 3 range trips. There was so much it took two of us over an hour. I'd say easily 3k pieces of brass. I'll start tumbling tomorrow. Btw - 762-sdn-6s are NOT precision rifle cans. Big change in poi. Repeatable, but big. Had to dial up 3moa and left 1moa @ 600 with the 308. On my 223 ar, I actually hit the uppermost adjustment on the scope. 3 or 4 moa there, I forget. Irritating. Quiet, lots of fun, but that part was irritating. And holy CRAP is brass from a suppressed ar filthy as all hell! Jeebus!

First thing I noticed was how dirty my 300 brass is on the AR versus the bolt gun. Interesting on the poi shift. I don't experience that on either rifle using the SDN 6. "The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits." Albert Einstein

Every suppressor I've put on my bolt rifles has had a POI shift, some more than others. Have a Socom Surefire brake on one my rifles, fellow Colorado member Alpine recently let me put his Socom 308 can on my rifle, had a POI shift of about .5 MILS at 700yds, didn't change the accuracy of the rifle what so ever. I wouldn't state the Socom is not a precision rifle can. If I were to ever get a can for my center-fire bolt rifles would have two concerns, accuracy and repeatability taking it off/on.

Found a bottle of Trailboss at my LGS. They had some 800x too but I have 700x so I didn't need any of that. He said they got some bullseye in but it didn't last the whole day. Oh add some IMR 4227 to that list, had Christy pick it up once I looked at data. ------------------------------------ My books on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/William-...id=1383531982&sr=8-1 email if you'd like auto'd copies.

Loaded 100 rounds of .38 Special with 3.4 grains of WST and some 158 SWC lead bullets I found that I forgot I had. These were from Georgia Arms and I paid $13 for 500 long ago. These are the first .38 reloads I have done since the mid '80s when I carried a 4" S&W .38 on the job. Will test them Saturday when my son and his fraternity brother join me at the range to shoot a smorgasbord of handguns..

Here's an odd one - loaded 100 reduced recoil .454 Casull rounds. 275 grain cast flat nose bullet over 11.5 grains True Blue. I'll shoot them in my recently acquired Ruger SRH Alaskan. No reason for me to have bought this gun since I don't need protection from dangerous game and it's way over the top for concealed carry, but I just like owning and shooting it. I like snubbies and it's at the high end of those. The full load Casull rounds are a blast to shoot, but at age 72 I can only take so many of those!

Set up my tumbler, did some 223,38,9,308,22tcm brass and here is the one that will just piss you guys off... Last night there was a post from a dude selling 2lbs of powder and a k of LPP for $85 and he said he would sell the primers for $40. I wrote him and asked if that meant he would sell the powder for $45 and he said sure. Just brought home a bottle of 4064 and WSF. ------------------------------------ My books on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/William-...id=1383531982&sr=8-1 email if you'd like auto'd copies.

Nah, I've got no use for 4064 and I have a 4# jug of WSF here that's still unopened. Good score though! I just finished decapping ~200 pieces of .308 in prep for a ride in the stainless tumbler, and I'm reloading .308 right now. So far Ive done 17 rounds. Kinda hot in here, need to run upstairs and get a drink, then get back to it. I need 200 round by Weds, plus at least 300 subsonic 300BLK rounds. Not to mention a pile of 9mm and .45ACP (I have a buddy coming in to visit from New Yorkistan - he wants to play with all the cool toys they aren't allowed to have).

I love 4064, have 5lbs of it now. I guess I will use the WSF for 9mm since its all I have that it works for. The funny thing was the dude peeled the stickers off. Buddy, I don't care what YOU paid, I know if I went to buy those (and could find the pistol powder) it would run me near $60. ------------------------------------ My books on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/William-...id=1383531982&sr=8-1 email if you'd like auto'd copies.

What cartridges do you load with 4064? I use WST for 9mm now, but on the advice of counsel I picked up wsf for subsonic 9mm loads. I haven't opened it yet since my tirants are not here yet.

I load up Mrs. Flash's Remington Classic .220 Swift with it. Works beautifully.

I load 223 and 308 with it. Gotta remember I got into this game when shit was scarce. 4064 always seemed to be around here so I started using it. I agree that the sticks are too long and my buddy thinks if IMR/Hodgdon made a 4064SC it would probably one of the top selling powders. I can't argue with that but I've had good results with it and it somehow meters very well for me, so I can't complain. ------------------------------------ My books on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/William-...id=1383531982&sr=8-1 email if you'd like auto'd copies.
