Knows too little about too much |
Which 185 Bergers did you order? I'm eventually going to settle on a load for the 185 Hybrids for 1K steel shooting. Still trying to find the time to get the loads run. Im using the 185gr Match Juggernaut #30418. I forget the other part number thats the identical bullet...I think its the OTM branding. Ive been really happy with them. I got some 168 and 175gr Match OTM from 280nosler a few months back. Getting great speeds on the 175 without pressure signs but cant get them to shoot well for some reason. The juggs were happy from the get go. -------------------------------------- "There are things we know. There are things we dont know. Then there are the things we dont know that we dont know."

I loaded 250 9mm for July 4th. I'm having a BBQ, guitar jam fest and some shooting. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

Yesterday I loaded 20 rounds of 22-250. I had about 15 left to do but the de-priming pin snapped in my die. Given the rest of the flubs, flops, and broken things today I played it safe and stopped. Back when powder was completely non-existent, I put a backorder with MidSouth Shooter's Supply for 16# of CFE223. THat was Feb 20, 2014. In the interim, I was able to pick up a single pound of CFE, as well as 8# of TAC. They called last week to ask if I still wanted it and to confirm my payment option (thankful for that since the card had expired), and today it arrived in my hot little hands! Recently obtained some more brass and 223 bullets, 10k of various primers. So now my stocks are much better!

Plowing straight ahead come what may |
I broke out the bullet casting stuff to try out the LEE 6 cavity mold I bought earlier this spring...I am pleased ...cast roughly 450 230 grain TC .45 bullets in slightly over 2 hours (including refilling the pot and fluxing often)...I can tell I need a 20# pot instead of a 10# ... ******************************************************** "we've gotta roll with the punches, learn to play all of our hunches Making the best of what ever comes our way Forget that blind ambition and learn to trust your intuition Plowing straight ahead come what may And theres a cowboy in the jungle" Jimmy Buffet

Loaded up 50 185gr Berger Juggernauts for near future use. Loaded 10ea additional of those and 175smk to use as sighters to confirm the last trips zero at 310yds. These will be shot at 100yds. Came up with an idea to keep track of how my dies are set up. Split key ring, and some key tags. This way I dont have to say: "Now which bullet and loading did I have this set up to last". image upload with preview -------------------------------------- "There are things we know. Neat idea. Or you could just do like the rest of us and get a micrometer seater die. Then you don't have to screw around with those damn lock rings. Just turn the micrometer to move the seater stem up/down.

But the setting on the micrometer die is contingent on the bullet type and ojive measurement no? So I would still be adjsusting the die but basically have to write the numbers so as to duplicate the seating depth correct? Edit to add...spell check decided it should be "jive". I thought it was funny and left it. I know how this would upset you! Sounds "Shaft-esque". Lol -------------------------------------- "There are things we know. There are things we dont know. You guys make this shit way too complicated with all this new idea shit.reloading is supposed to be a hobby, not a bunch of shit to keep up with. Sorry about that ,I am old and not much time left.

Lol. Im happy with my Lee dies so far. They are serving their purpose and producing ammo that is on par with my skill level. Sub MOA groups at 500yds is a-ok by me. -------------------------------------- "There are things we know. There are things we dont know. Better than my phone thinking it should be olive. Remember that one? Lol Write it down? Man, you are old. I just take a picture of it with my phone. Lol Either way, you leave the die locked into the Toolhead, and just turn the top a precise amount, instead of screwing around with the die, measuring, screwing around again, measuring, screwing around some more, hoping it didn't move when you locked it down, etc etc..

Loaded up 400 rounds of 9mm this weekend after checking them for function and accuracy out of my G17. Running 147gr Bayou Bullets over 3.4 WST. Nice, soft and accurate. I've found it works for me to go downstairs and load up 100/session.

You know, if you tumble your brass it wouldn't be so tarnished like that.

Finished up the last 350 rounds that I'll take to the Production Nationals next month. That should be the last full batch of ammo that will be done on the single stage. My arm is tired after loading around 7,000 rounds on that Rock Chucker in the last 10 months.
