No further discussion. They looked surprised that someone would recognize the logo and they didn’t seem to willing to elaborate. I’m wondering if they weren’t suppose to be wearing them yet?

Or maybe surprised that anyone recognized it at all, since it's new.
Probably under strict 'no talking' orders too.

Does anyone know about US television this year? I had F1TV last year and liked being able to stream the races either live or recorded. Will the new provider allow viewing of recorded races?

AppleTV
As far as I know, the whole platform is being moved to Apple, for the US only. The rest of the world still gets F1TV
Hoping the setup is largely the same. I think I read that it'll be the equivalent of the high tier F1TV package, which is good since AppleTV is about double what the base F1TV plan was.

I think you can get Apple TV online for $99 for the year and it includes the F1 package.
That's less than the F1TV season subscription from what I recall.

Since I haven't watched any regular TV for several years and don't need Dish/Direct/Cable, that saves me far more than buying a few specific subscriptions like this one.

The base F1TV was something like $78/yr, IIRC.
Last I'd checked, AppleTV was $14/mo
Edit, just checked again: $12.99/mo for AppleTV, don't see an annual option.

But, F1TV is dropping the base plan in global markets, and is going to something like $17/mo IIRC. So AppleTV ends up still being the better deal, even if F1TV was still available here.

I'm ready for Alpine to disappoint me again. But maybe with a Mercedes powerplant they'll do better.

Has anyone else noticed the size of the air inlet over the drivers head in the Racing Bulls car versus anyone else? I read that there was some potential cooling issues but that’s all I’ve heard…

Which is interesting because the Red Bull has one of the smallest. At least from the above Barcelona photos.

They also have little winglets on the nose and the air intake.

This week is going to be pretty much meaningless in figuring out the pecking order for 2026. Maybe a chance to see the new car designs, but even those will probably change somewhat before the first race.

The ones on the air intake are camera pods, IIRC.

Would've been nice if AppleTV would have done something to air Barcelona. Not yet clear to me how the races will be organized on their platform.

Barcelona was always suppose to be a private test so teams could figure out of their new cars work. Supposedly, Bahrain is suppose to be the first test open to everyone, but I don't know if it'll be televised.

^ Yup, only Barcelona coverage is available via F1 directly. IMO, we got more than was expected.

Testing has previously been covered, so I'd hope that doesn’t change. Hoping F1 via AppleTV is the same as F1TV. From what I've read, it's sounding like a direct port from F1TV to AppleTV.

Direct port starting March 7. Since Bahrain is paying, we're getting the last hour of the day for Feb 11-13 and all of Feb 18-20.

Something else to keep in mind is towards the end of February that Australian Supercars starts back up and for $6.99 a month on their YouTube channel you can get all of their support races and main races with no ads. It's a little confusing at first since they give you the whole day, but at the end is a V8 Supercar race since they do mutiple races a weekend.
