Impressive drive by Leclerc today.
He made a great start, passing all but Max and held off Lando for longer than expected. Hamilton was close for a little while but never a real threat.
The Red Bull seems to have found something and the McLaren drivers are looking over their shoulders too much.
Don’t know what happened to the Mercedes, they looked close earlier this weekend but just didn’t seem to have any performance today.

Way I read my F1 TV emails; some content will be free with AppleTV; but if you want everything you currently get…subscribe to the F1 app.

That first corner at COTA is a shit show waiting to happen. Begging you to come in hot, because the guy in front of you is already trying to turn. Racing incident … sure. Seems like stewards have taken the position that is drivers responsibility to protect themselves in turn 1 lap 1.

I do like the first corner at COTA. I actually like the whole track. There is a similar corner like that at Sonoma IIRC.
Anything, that makes it more of a drivers skill I am a fan of. I remember one time watching an IRL at Texas Motor Speedway and they radio'd "we need to find more speed" and the driver was yelling back, "I have the throttle all the way down all the way around the track . . . you find more speed"

Since I moved a few years ago from Oval racing (IRL and Nascar) I have really enjoyed learning all the tracks and racing. Now I am trying my best to learn GT racing but dang. That is complicated.

If you want to see that corner create chaos watch the NASCAR race at COTA, lot of sheet metal gets bent on that corner, along with egos.

Nascar at COTA is absolute hilarity.
No track limits enforcement other than through the esses, IIRC. So it's up the hill, and maybe turn left when you get to Bastrop Big Grin

That was a bit of a snoozer, but good on Lando being patient.

The Race's take on the Apple/F1 deal
Glad to hear SkyF1 will likely still be an option.
Looked into the possibility of just getting SkyF1, but not an option here without using a VPN.

Why? Not only is Sky Sports shit, but they're more expensive than either F1TV or Apple TV+ which is free if you have a T-Mobile account.

Mostly I just prefer the SkyF1 broadcast team over the F1TV group.
I've gotten accustomed to Croft/Brundle/Kravitz team

I haven't seen anything where they'll be taken off as an option while watching through Apple TV+ just like how you can switch between the F1TV feed and the SkySports feed.

Right, saw that from the above link to The Race's video on it.
Sucks to have to pony up double the cost/yr over the current F1TV pkg, though.

So ESPN has around 75 million subscribers. Apple TV less than 50 million. I get they're paying 3/4 quarter billion dollars but is that worth having millions of fewer eyes on your product? I have no intention of paying for Apple TV so I guess it's highlights on youtube.

You guys crack me up. I can't figure out if it's just standard Apple-hate, the money or something else. Apple coverage won't be more than F1TV was I think?

I pay for annual subscription to WRC for 14 events. Well worth it to me as a fan, and I suspect y'all will feel the same once you're cut out of the F1 world. Hell, WRC is ONLY that series (plus some other feeders). At least with Apple you get all sorts of other content in the pricing.

Hang in there, it might be worth it. We've been getting this on ESPN essentially for "free" since that's in almost any cable/YT/sat package.

I'm pretty sure subscribers doesn't equal viewers of a single specific series......

In any event, on to Mexico and more wall-tape!!!

Anticlimactic finish to a pretty good race.
Lando, flawless
Bearman, fantastic drive

And the WDC tightens up. On to Brazil.

That was one of the more exciting turn one’s in recent memory.
A lot of good racing behind the first two cars.

It seems the fans had booed Lando throughout the weekend, unhappy he'd been gifted Oscar's position at Monza.

Apparently there were all sorts of rumors making the rounds about shenanigans to keep OP down, and give LN a leg up to win. Based on early practice and qualifying results apparently.

People love a conspiracy theory, but that seems like pure rubbish.
