I think it's going to be between George and Max, leaning toward Max just on his skill. I wouldn't mind George winning it all except can't stand Toto.

Had to look, forgot Imola hosted their last race last year.
Portimao is a blast, roller coaster of a track.

Guess 6 days of testing data won't be useful for the Bahrain GP this year.

AM will be lucky to get through qualifying, and they’ll be dead last. Even if they make the race, they’ll pull off after a few laps at most.

I have been in some real challenging meetings over the years. I bet this one puts all those combined to shame.

1 unlucky to lucky FP3 to Quali. Shocking they got Kimi out for a lap.
1 just unlucky, shock snap by Max. Seems the rears are still pretty sensitive, Perez did the same yesterday.

I've watched most of the three practice sessions and now qualifying.
My initial reaction, this is a rules disaster. Tomorrows race will give us the first look at starts and the racing itself. I'm sure it will be different, maybe a bit interesting, but not what I would consider a real drivers championship.

A real head-slapper by Mercedes with the cooling fan for Kimi.

I do like that it seems like they're having to really drive them now, and that small mistakes are catchable, rather than being on such a knife edge.
The clipping thing is still odd, lift and coast early, even downshifting before the turn.

I saw a video online that said that Kimi was under review for unsafe release from his pit. I think one of his crew went over the line when they were getting ready to get in line.

If he is found culpable he will probably be dropped a few places on the grid which will make Toto very angry!

What happened is they left the cooling fans in the sidepods when they released him from the garage. They fell out on track, and Lando clipped one and shattered it into a million pieces. They had to red flag the session to clean up the track. Entirely the team’s fault. The result is they fined the team, which is the right call. Kimi wasn’t to blame and shouldn’t have been penalized.

Australian curse.

Hamilton should have forced the issue and pitted when he thought he should and forced the team to service his car. Given how the race played out it looks quite likely he would have pipped Charles for the podium.

The start and first laps were interesting, in a Hollywood sort of way.
The problem is it was hard to separate what was driving skill from battery level influence.
This will improve somewhat with development and vary by track, but the underlying problem is still there.
This was an ill-conceived rules package based around car manufacturers marketing needs and environmentalist wet dreams of promoting the fake concept of "zero emissions".

Overall, an entertaining race, I think.
Odd to see both AMR pit and come back out, WEC style.
Thinking something was wrong with Perez, his aero wasn’t opening nearly as early as the others, amd closed sooner too. Might explain his abysmal pace.
