From Nicolette Larson's first album that had the hit "Lotta Love", a Neal Young cover. But this song rocks a bit more, and the album had some 70s star players, including Linda Ronstadt, Michael McDonald, the Little Feat guys, Albert Lee, etc. But also an uncredited guitarist I'm sure most will instantly recognize.

There I was, perusing the magazine rack at the grocery store when there in a glorious black and white cover shot was what appeared to be Debbie Harry from about '78-'79. Picking up the publication, I was surprised; it was Taylor Swift made up and hair-styled like Debbie. Anyway, here's the original.

I was thinking Eddie but to be sure had to Google the tune. I'd forgotten that Nicolette had passed far too young.

Really liked Nicolette, and hate that she died so young. Did I ever tell my story about seeing Nicolette live when she was touring with Commander Cody?

Nicolette is just one of several great women artists in the 70s. Taking Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie as a certainty, how about these artists?

Always wished I met a woman called, Juice.

Tracy Nelson and Mother Earth

Jennifer Warnes

Finally, my favorite of all, Emmylou Harris. I picked this one because Nicolette Larson is singing backup on the recording.

Apologies to the Austin Powers movie featuring it in a scene, but the tune came out in Jan.'70 not 1969. Original version.

And one from a member of The Guess Who that left his own legacy.

No 70s music thread is complete without some funk/disco. Big Grin

Notably absent from my list are the Bee Gees. Yes, they had several top 10 & #1 hits, but I cannot abide men sounding like girls.

Some irony in the fact that probably my favorite song from the iconic Who’s Next album is a John Entwhistle composition and vocal. I love this song.

Girls Talk. I adore Linda's cover of this tune, but Dave Edmunds had it out in '79. Linda followed with it later.

And a little ABBA; some scenes are from one of the "Mamma Mia" movies.
