It's really bizarre...you can just kind of place anything you want, anywhere you want...and there's even a "maintain" option once you place it. *shrug*

Thanks everyone for helping me move stuff out of the old base on Shoguns, the front half of it decayed today.

I moved the safes in the new base so you don't have to go in the lil room to get to them, just don't forget to lock them. Get the combos from me when you see me on.

I'll be making the base larger and more defensible, but it will take some time.

Arc.

I will be on later tonight to help. What do you need is you are not on? Lumber? Plywood? Wall or floor sections.

All of the above.

Server chat today "Whose base was in Mogli?

I say "We moved to another house."

There is a built up house with a helipad not far from mogli, that isn't our base.

Well, Gurney's server crashed again, while Aeteocles and I were in the middle of a run.

Bastards.

Side note, the AI are much tougher. It is almost impossible to play solo. I think that is going to turn people off. Even a simple operation like cutting wood take at least two. One for overwatch, and one for cutting/crafting. We got a shiload of wood and plywood tonight, but still got attacked at least 3 times in a short time.

Can't see how a newbie or even a seasoned vet player is going to last here.

So... As I sit here not able to play I realize something. We need a way to contact gurney or nala or thunder. If something is messed up we may not all be on at the same time. I am reluctantly fine with only a few admins. But we need a way to contact them about bugs or issues we find.

The trouble with Gurney is he doesn't want anyone else to be an admin or fart around with the nuts and bolts, he's paranoid.

On the other hand, Nala is looking for volunteers to help get the other server up. When she's on, if you know what you're doing, ask what you can do to help. At some point we're gonna have to go in and manually add loot spawns, which requires getting in game and and recording map coordinates. It's gonna be tedious, but with enough of us doing it then it ought to go fast.

I should be down for whatever she needs me for tonight. But I can't do much with that stuck on authentication issue. I have a few suggestions too...I guess I need to get on and talk when they're not playing that other game.

When you're chopping wood, you have to try and make sure you're in an area of the woods where no AI should be pathing. I went just north of the base and didn't see a soul the entire time, but I was also quick and had a supply truck so I crafted all my plywood once I was back into the base.

The AI does need turned down a notch though, but I don't even know if that's possible. I was fine out on my own earlier before anyone else got on...but I ran into about 10 bandits in the span of 30 minutes

Also... What area are you guys building?

I've never bothered to build anything before. But might carve off my own little slice of zombie heaven around the corner from you guys.

Additional notes from yesterdays gaming session.

I like the AI. They're challenging and exciting. It does indeed appear that they scale up and down based on the size of your group.

Kevin and I went and raided the Balota Airfield. We were attacked twice, but managed to take down the bandits both times without incident because we moved carefully providing cover for each other.

Same thing with chopping wood: Providing overwatch with a gun truck and a grenade launcher proved successful.

Also, I don't know if this was coincidental, or if the AI are really that smart, but after I turned two of his buddies into smoldering ash piles with the grenade launcher, one of the AI flanked us and snuck up close enough to the vehicle that I wasn't able to use the grenade launcher. I had to jump out of the car and put him down before he ventilated Kevin who had nothing but a chainsaw.

The AI is too hard if you need an armed truck escort to chop wood.

Think about people trying to play on that server without a massive established base and well supplied friends.

People won't have Blackhawks and Hummers with M2s, and will have a hell of a time building a base.

There needs to be a balance struck, and if you want to experience the AI, just take a basic rifle and go out alone or in pairs and try to survive. If the server is too hard, people won't come back.

Is there a new server IP? I tried to log on and it showed the server still down.

What are you doing over here, trying to make sense and shit?

He's right, I hear y'all saying you like the AI because it adds a challenge, that's fine, but what happens when we get a bunch of Rando Calrissians on who aren't all squaded up and geared out? Just a couple Bambis running around with Makarovs and dreams of surviving the zombie apocalypse for more than eight seconds, BOOM, there's a roving robot death squad to bust their behymens like it's summer camp.

A middleground needs to be found. Personally, and I believe Arc agrees with me on this, but roving AI needs to be really toned down, like retard styles, as if they too are Bambis. Meanwhile, there ought to be AI controlled areas with more advanced AI, simulating survivors that have been around the block a few times and know what's what, much like experienced player groups having big bases.

I don't know if having the two is possible, but I do know, that if we want to populate the server instead of just having a circle jerk, then we need to tweak that AI.

So I'm plugging the dang server IP in. 142.234.191.10:2302

And nothing is coming up when I search for it. Or when I plug it into the "favorites" screen.

Anyone have any ideas?

If it's not popping up when you put the IP in then you're not gonna find it with a name. Try NGA though if that'll tickle your taint. Have you tried restarting?
