I didn't like the part where Ainsley is going to have a man for a roommate. Also Cooper is still being written fem "I'm begging you."

Wish I'd heard of this place when I was making a couple trips from DFW to Abilene.

I too continue to be amused by the simple plots of this show. Also by the memories.

I lived in McKinney for about 7 years, one of my clients when first getting there was in Midland. It was 2011, a record setting heater of a summer in a place that is already hot.

I distinctly remember being hotter getting off plane and to office there than anywhere I'd ever been. Bonus; they were having some wildfires that were still going the next time I was there. Nice soot finish to a white shirt.....

Even just peripherally, you could tell the difference in years oil was booming and not. Everything from lodging to dining to car lots and traffic. Crazy place.

So they convinced you. This man was born a male and this show is working the audience over.

The roommate thing disappointed me as well. Could have left it at the show before and taken a stand against the I’m a giraffe generation, but no.

I liked the messaging with the "they/them" roommate.

Ainsley makes every attempt to reach out respectfully to the roommate Paigyn, but is shot down about a half dozen times in their first meeting. Paigyn insists everything must be her way, for her comfort and mental health. Ainsley is never rude. But she is hassled by the university for expressing her desire for an equal say in the relationship, and for expressing her view that pronouns don't make sense and that she is happy to use the person's name but not the pronouns when the person isn't there.

In the final episode she defends Paigyn's right to be who she is without being mocked for it. She defends Paigyn as being part of the team. Ainsley remains respectful and inclusive, but asserts that the rules of their room should be jointly determined, not dictated.

A very Charlie Kirk approach to the issue.

^ First off, you are referring to a man as her. Second, you just gave a summary of exactly what hollywood wants from you. They make a show and make it masculine enough that they can slide in these little lessons about evil that must be accepted. Looks like they have done their work.

As for dropping Charlie Kirk's name, Charlie would not of been in favor of having a teen woman room with a teen man. I think you should listen to more Charlie Kirk and less hollywood.

So you are saying that despite being born a woman the trans-man was successful for you?
Good to know. Then go ahead and accept the they/them too.

You see Bobbi was born as a girl named India, in 2019 she decided to be non-binary and trans.

So due to that, has to room with a girl at TCU. Unless another trans-man is available.

Check your facts.

This is her in 2019

I did check my facts.

How is it not blatantly obvious it is a man?

Bobbi Salvör Menuez (the actor who plays Paigyn Meester in Landman) was assigned male at birth (AMAB). They publicly came out as trans and non-binary in January 2019, when they announced their name change from India Salvör Menuez to Bobbi Salvör Menuez and began using they/them pronouns.

I don’t know who that picture is supposed to be but the red-headed trans on the show Landman is in fact a man.

I don't want to get into a long debate about the underside of this person. The fact that he or she is trans is enough to disqualify them as a roommate for my daughter. It is proving to be true that trans people are prone to violence and unpredictable behavior. All sources available at Louder With Crowder .com

I assumed it was a male actor when watching the show, but wasn't 100% sure. Imdb listed her as "actress" and had biographical information saying she is female. That's all I had to go on.

But my point still stands that the show portrays conservatism as being respectful of an individual while not agreeing with their choices, and also not bowing down to the litany of demands, such as use of pronouns or modifying our behaviors in their presence in mutual spaces.

Initially, Paigyn wants a one-way street, steamrolling Ainsley. The university confirms it. Neither Paigyn nor the university recognize Ainsley's attempts at conversation or compromise. This is classic modern leftist culture, demanding their rights while denying the other viewpoint theirs.

At 5he workout session, Paigyn's personal life is not being flaunted and she's not demanding a safe space or special treatment. Nobody cares about her private life, as she is not making it relevant. When Paigyn agrees to give Ainsley an equal position in their relationship as roommates, it is possible to coexist.

I finally finished season 2 the other night. I'll pick it up when it returns just to see the shockers and deaths we're being set up for after the "happy ending - new beginning" scene in the finale.

BTW, for those who had grown used to the hotties throughout the show, Taylor decided we needed another one with the Cheyenne/Penny character Eek

I bailed on this clusterfuck a couple of episodes into the first season.

Based on this thread, I see no reason to regret that.

I’ll continue to watch just for the scenes that the attorney, Rebecca, is in. What a great character!
