Recently my nightstand gun has become a very quiet carbine in 300 BO.

Sig P226 with a light on the bedside table for the most part...but usually a Smith M60 3" or a Sig p365 on the belt for trips to town. We live on a farm and I've always got a hand gun strapped on...what ever interests me that morning...so I'm used to different operating systems...but all, ALL, are carried in the old FBI 3-4 o'clock position in an OWB of my own making. It’s the same gun. Sometimes is in a holster, some times it’s not.

I scratched my head a bit, while thinking, and replied “Totally Different,” but it is actually a bit more complicated. My carry gun, for the day, would normally be stashed nearby, but, not on the nightstand. If awakened by a bump in the night, or similar, I am going to reach for the Benelli M2, which was my duty shotgun during the final two years of my policin’ career.

Similar in that they are striker fired. P320 bedside and either a P365 or PPQ for carry.

I don't know how they could be the same gun. It seems, to me, that you'd be making a rather large compromise in either use-case, if they were. My bedside gun is a MK25 with a light/laser and silencer. My carry gun is a Taurus TCP, with an extra mag. If I am outside the walls of the house, I have the TCP; I don't care to carry a larger gun, as much as I carry that gun. Obviously, I'd be doing my family a disservice, if that was my bedside gun. The MK25 comes with me to work 5/7 days of the week, and lives, silencer removed, in my backpack, typically at arms reach. A carbine is in the trunk of the vehicle, less than 50m away. Considering those typical circumstances of mine, I feel (almost) adequately equipped with the TCP. I admittedly make compromises, in carrying that gun, in the name of comfort. There's no way I could be as equipped during the day, as I am at night, and I am not going to short-change myself at night, in the name of using the same gun for everything. I practice with both, and the little TCP is actually good-shooting little gun.

Very VERY different. Currently my EDC is a Kel-Tec P32 in my right front pants pocket. My nightstand gun is a Glock 21 with a CT green laser.

When I'm on my bicycle, I have a fanny back holster with a Beretta APX/Nano hybrid or a Glock G42.
