The original MOS was an intermediate (read: clunky) solution and this new one is already much better because everything is essentially "direct-mount" (much like the Echelon). I'm not worried about the polymer panels. The main issue with all platforms of this type (where the screws are directly perpendicular to the direction of slide movement) is the quality of the screws used. From an engineering perspective, Aimpoint's solutions (the original and the new A-cut) are the best because they don't subject their mounting screws to these stresses in the first place.

This is what I like about Zev-style optic cuts. They use threaded posts that fit into the mounting holes of the optic to take the stress off the screws.

My ZEV P320 Slides are like that, and the optic is about as low as possible. But they are RMR only, which is OK there are plenty of potions.

I went back to the gun show and tried the trigger on one of the Gen 6 G17's. Wasn't that great. Break was spongier than a Gen 5, feels like a 3.5 lb connector but with normal total trigger pull weight. Kind like an RXM.

The challenge with Zev posts is that they generally involve a smaller diameter screw than would be possible with a flush mount, so although you are supporting the optic arguably better, you give up some durability with the smaller diameter screw.

And it makes using an RCR impossible without cutting off the posts.

I have 1,000 rounds on my 17 Gen 6. I did it over two trips in two days. The gun had two malfunctions: a failure to feed on the the first round out of the third magazine (which was a factory 17 round magazine with a round chambered). The second was a failure to fire that was determined to be an ammunition issue (did not detonate in five more attempts or with a different gun). I like the texture. I do not like the beavertail. It impedes my normal (scoop) draw sometimes. The trigger on my example is not good. The trigger bar rubs quite a bit on the right side slide stop lever and the slide moves while the trigger is pulled. This does not happen on the Gen 4 and 5 Glocks that I compared it to. Speaking of comparisons, I shot it next to a 17 Gen 5 and 34 Gen 5 both with a factory Gen 5 recoil spring and with a 15 pound aftermarket spring. I would say the Gen 6 falls right between the 17 Gen 5 with factory spring and the 17 Gen 5 with the aftermarket spring. I do not think most shooters will be able to tell the difference. Unfortunately, by the end of the 1,000 rounds the left optic screw had loosened up. I thought the witness mark was slightly misaligned after the first day, but it was probably 1/8 turn loose after the second day. There was an accompanying loss of zero. I took the optic and plate off today, cleaned the threads, and reinstalled with new screws. I will run another 1,000 rounds and see what happens.

Thanks for your report. Did you use any thread locker for the optic? If so, which one? ------------------------------------------------ 9/11/01 Never Forget "In valor there is hope" - Tacitus

I've never been a Glock guy. I did handle the 19 gen 6 and I was impressed with the grip, the feel, the undercut. It really felt nice in the hand. I may have to get one! _________________________ Einstein defines insanity as "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

Has anybody heard any info (or even rumors) about the gen 6 slimlines and when they might be released? I almost bought a 43X MOS today, but held back because I'd really like some of the new features and it would be stupid to buy one now and then have them release some big update next week at SHOT. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

I think it will be worth waiting until next week. I am looking at a similar thing and also considering a gen 6 17. I hope they bring the COA back for both.

^^^^^^^^^ Waiting on COAs myself. I am pretty sure the year is coming up where the COA agreement was solely for Glocks. Hoping to see if we get anyone else doing the ACUT. I like my COA a lot and like my Gen5 19 just OK. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Yeah, I kinda figured that was the case when I saw they released a new optic cut that isn't the A-Cut. I wonder if Glock got sick of Aimpoint not being able to keep up with demand, or if they decided it was a better business decision to keep the platform open. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

I finally got to handle the Gen 6 at my local Cabela's and I must admit, I like it. Not enough to dump my Gen 5s and upgrade to the Gen 6, but I like the texture. The undercut was noticeable, but not night/day. Didn't get to try out the trigger due to the trigger locks.
