No, I put it on him for being too thin-skinned, and I wish I got here sooner because I would have encouraged him to let it go. Year V

I'm the best friend this guy has here right now, because I stopped him from making a real mistake. He's not banned, in case you didn't notice. We're not so callous as to throw away a longtime member without good reason, regardless of post count. Calling this place the Titanic is laughable and barely qualifies as an insult. The Titanic sank on its maiden voyage, whereas this vessel has found itself in these waters for all of this century. I placed him on a temporary suspension so as to not have to ban him. If he's immature enough to come back at it in a week, then I'll tend to the noise.

People don’t like their high end very pricey clone guns to be tied to their more pedestrian roots. I really am not sure why. The most copied guns in the world are great guns to begin with. Making them “enhanced” as a clone isn’t a bad thing. It is certainly the arena of diminishing returns but who cares? It is your money. High performance in any arena has never been for the frugal.

C'mon now, that's a cheap shot there! No need to pile on, especially considering the comma after '(and Glock Clones)', which would seem to indicate he's putting the almighty ZEV is it's own category of distinction! I've shot a few Zev's. Nice guns and laser accurate. But it's nothing more than a high-end Glock. Better parts, a little tighter, more crisp trigger. I'm not going to spend $1400 - $2400 on a fancy Glock. And at the end of the day, it aint the "Be all, end all" of Pistols. Nice? Yes. "The Ultimate"? "The Only Gun You'll Ever Need"? Probably not. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. I for one am thankful for Viking. I don't like to see someone lose their mind over something so trivial. Makes me wonder how such an individual got though basic training or retiring from the USMC. I would have thought they would have grown thicker skin by now. But who doesn't enjoy watching the occasional drama show? At the very least it's a little entertaining. And I learned something. I had heard of Zev but didn't know anyone was making a modular glock. I think it's kinda cool and would have like to see some pics and range reports. If they could do it at half the cost, it would give the market some real competition

But will the OZ9 chassis fit in a Glock?!?!?! I own a variety of hammer & striker fired guns including Glock & Zev. When I get a polymer frame gun, I expect it to be light. The OZ9 receiver is machined steel and adds significant weight, which is why I don't care to put a steel chassis in a Glock. If I wanted a Glock frame w/ more weight & metal to it, there are aftermarket companies that make entire Glock compatible frames out of aluminum alloy or stainless steel. Rock Island has an all-metal Glock clone, the STK100, and it's cheap.

I swear I had something for this |
Except that Rock Island frame is two pieces split in half. At least with the Zev, you're getting a Glock 2011 style gun. I do think the gun at MSRP is too much for what you get, but as long as you're using the smaller build kit instead of the original one, you've got one hell of a modular Glock with a better grip. It's also having another price issue coming up against P320 AXGs, M&P Metal/Competition, and the new Canik Rival-S coming to market right about $1K. I will say I really really want to shoot a OZ9 Hypercomp.

I think I handled that one. The barrel mates up with the top of the slide with 5 circular ports? It looked very well done. The price point is stupid crazy though for a fancy Glock. I throw around money buying gun stuff but that would be hard to justify to me. If the prices were more in line with the reality of what you are buying I would try one out, maybe.

It looks like the accessory rail is part of the chassis. Does that mean you have a g17 length regardless of grip size? Or does the accessory rail separate from the rest of the chassis to accommodate different length?

I swear I had something for this |
It's an Island Barrel a bit like the Staccato XC, but along with the front site on the barrel, they also drilled 5 compensator holes into the barrel to make it flatter shooting. I haven't checked, but you could probably just buy the upper, and this is one time you'd want that barrel in TiN because that thing probably gets filthy.

It’s not a fancy Glock. It’s a high end pistol using Glock’s design. People pay $3, $4, $5000+ on high end 1911’s and 2011’s. Are these just fancy Colts?

Yeah I like the Huper Comp I thought about adding one to my Zev Elite and Competition.

No, they're fancy 1911s, as I explained to you early on in this thread.

That ported barrel was originally a Schuemann design. Its been around a long time. KKM machines a similar barrel. Even Faxon made a ported barrel as the Schuemann for a gun builder.

See monobloks post back on page 4. Pretty well covers this pistol for me. The damn thing might be more easily accepted were it not full covered with serrations, slots, holes and other useless features. Maybe I'm just a little plain wrapper. Most Glocks actually apeal to me. Yes, a service tool. Perhaps Zev could have made a model with less of the exterior machine work which would sell for less and attract a regular kind of customer base. All this extra machining simply turns me off. Just my thoughts.
