You guys have talked me into it. I just ordered another ZEV - oh - I mean a gussied up Glock that does not look like a Glock, shoot like a Glock, feel like a Glock, have a design like a Glock and takes apart different from a Glock - it must be Glock. . For those you say they will be satisfied with something lesser - I guess you plan on taking your money with you in a U Haul ( funny thing I never saw one of those at a funeral) LOL.

Have held the Zev line at my LGS, no doubt they are very well made guns, and the design of the frame is interesting, they clearly took a que from the AR in how to build a bunch of parts and assemble them around a centralized chassis (lower in AR parlance) which frees up customization options for Zev and customers.

Interesting article on the Zev OZ9, how it was created, where the parts came from and in it Glock is mentioned no fewer than 22 times.

Some quotes from the article

The O.Z-9 is a full-size 9 mm pistol that uses a bunch of parts from Zev’s impressive
catalog originally intended for Glocks,

it is the size of a Glock G17,

s about a quarter-pound heavier than a Gen5 G17.

the O.Z-9 uses a slide-and-barrel assembly that is entirely derived from Zev’s Glock aftermarket parts catalog,

The company also intends to sell a shorter version of the grip frame that will take 15-round magazines and give the gun the full-length-slide/chopped-grip proportions of the common “Glock G19L” modification.

It feels like a heavily massaged aftermarket Glock race trigger because, well, that’s exactly what it is—Zev will happily sell you just the trigger assembly for your Glock.

You’d spend the same amount of money, just about, getting this amount of work done to a Glock when all is said and done, and you still wouldn’t have the rigid-billet chassis and interchangeable grip frames.

No it's not 100% interchangeable, but you can interchange parts from a Zev to a Glock and presumably since the zev parts in the OZ9 are sold as direct replacement for Glocks, some of the OZ9's parts will fit right into a Glock.

CLone? Gucci Glock, Glockish, seems like whatever article or video you go to, it's always compared to a Glock.

In making this all good fun, maybe I can put this in the right perspective..

OP post about his slick new toy.

Para posts that it's a hussied up clone of this other awesome toy. Now this might sound like an insult at first but keep in mind hussied up can be another way of saying sexy or provocative. Since we aren't talking about someone's wife, mother or daughter, it's in no way inappropriate. This new toy is in fact much sexier than the original from which is was mostly copied.

OP disagrees with the statment because his sexy new toy is different in every way. It has an extra appendage what makes it special and unique.

Multiple members point out that it looks similar and acts similar to the former toy but being old fashioned, we wouldn't pay extra for the sexy copy with the new appendage.
However it's 2023 and we won't judge you if the new appendage makes you happy. Go for it.

Don't forget the basic safety rules and to lube your new toy.

I was at my LGS today and bought a no lock S&W 340. The one with the small XS tritium front dot and U notch rear. Love this combo. Very similar to my 22lr version the 43C.

I actually played with the zev’s they had. They were this version but varied by full size, compact, and a comped model. Me and the guy beh8nd the counter took it down. It did a field strip exactly like every Glock I’ve ever owned. Also like a Glock I didn’t go beyond a basic field stripping. The chassis was very evident. It was heavier than a Glock. The trigger was no better or worse than most Glocks I have shot. Nothing special certainly. It looked cool as hell. The grip angle was different, don’t know how that would translate in real life.

Overall it felt very nice. I’m sure it shoots well. It was pricy as fuck. I could have bought a full-size Glock and a compact Glock and maybe a sub compact Glock for the price.

I liked the gun. The price for what you get seemed excessive. I just spent 900 bucks on a scandium J frame though so what do I know about reasonable purchases? Lol

A HK VP 9, S&W M&P, PPQ etc etc all field strip pretty much like a Glock. Don't know what trigger you pulled; but a Zev trigger pulls at 4 to 41/2lbs. I have never pulled a trigger like that on a Glock. The chassis is steel and reinforces the frame, the grip angle is like a 1911. Shoots great - much less muzzle flip allowing it to come back on target fast and much less felt recoil. You get what you pay for. Try buying a Wilson CQB sometime - makes a Zev look cheap. I can buy two possible three Zevs in place of one. Did not stop me from buying more than one though. L love the 1911. Retired from the military the same year they retired the 1911 - 1985.
Great pistol - chased Pancho Villa, went to WW 1, WW 2, Korea and Nam. Most battle tested pistol that exists! Chris Kyle, the American Sniper, went to Iraq with the Springfield trp 45. Later, when it got hit by shrapnel, he swapped it out for a Sig 220 45. When shooting hardball that 45 beats the 9mm hands down. Read about a Marine in Iraq, who went into a house and shot an insurgent twice in the chest with his Berretta which had no effect. Surprised him.

Let's go back over it again. What time did you leave the roadhouse, who was with you and what did you do then?

Hey The Viking,
Sorry for the thread drift and any negativity. This forum really is an outstanding place with many great members and Para runs a tight ship. I would hate for you to walk away with a bad impression so how about we get this thread back on track.

Care to post some pics of your new weapon. Everyone loves some gun porn.
Are you doing casual range shooting, running shooting drills timers?
It would be interesting to see what kind of measurable difference shows up between a Zev vs a stock glock.

VP9 and M&Ps do not field strip like Glocks. They have takedown levers instead of pulling down on the slide lock. You have to lock the slide all the way back to rotate the takedown lever instead of pulling back the slide about 1/4" while simultaneously pulling down the slide lock. You don't pull the trigger on the VP9 and M&Ps to remove the slide.

*I know about pulling the trigger on an M&P to bypass the sear deactivation step, but that goes against the manual.

An OEM Glock minus connector can put their OEM trigger in that range. On top of that, there are scores of aftermarket connectors that can reduce trigger pull down to 4 lbs & under. They're just little pieces of stamped, cut, & bent steel that cost very little to make but brands charge $20-30 for.

That's a strange tangent to add to your thread. I predict '.45 vs 9mm and the Moro Rebellion' Fudd lore in 3, 2, 1...

Yea, sorry you are not correct. Those guns don’t take down Glock style. Guess what does? Zev. It was a 2000 dollar OZ9 Comped version. The trigger was nothing special. Every Walther striker I have ever shot felt better. It was a good striker trigger but not even close to the best. VP9’s have all been better as well.

Oh brother. 9mm war stories. Give it a rest.

Oh wow a takedown lever wow what a difference. And what do you do after you flip the lever?
Glocks do not come with minus connectors, other than the practical tacticals, nor do they come with after market connectors. I like the Travis Haley skimmer trigger myself. The Timney give you a three pound trigger pull.
Not all that strange when pricing Wilsons and Zevs or Glocks and Zevs. Like the Navy Seal Team chief said, " The 45 will take you home." Remember the 9mm civvie is a much improved cartridge; however, a rising tide floats all boats" so the 45 is improved also.

The Glock 43 does indeed come from the factory with a “-“/Minus market connector.

Walthers, Sig 320 etc that have a high bore axis are all going to give you a good bit of muzzle flip. The Glock ( and Glock Cones ), Zev, and S&W 2.0 ( which lowered the bore axis on the Smiths) will give you less muzzle flip because of the lower bore axis. I can shoot the Sig 320 FS pretty well because it is a heavier pistol and that keeps the muzzle flip down.
