The GT20 isn't shipping, yet. I'm told the first ones should be ready by the end of the month. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I wish I could really convey how thin the grip feels. I sure like it. The SA trigger pull is -- to me -- as good as about any 1911 I've fired. And I've shot a lot of 'em. Haven't put the trigger pull gauge to it, but I'd bet it's right at 4 pounds.

Now I wish I had taken time to put it on sandbags. When I get back from the IWA show, I'll do that.

This is just a fun project to commemorate 20 years of Gun Talk radio. As I told someone, I'm not in the business of selling guns. Still, it's fun to do a project where you get to spec it out the way you want. Wink

Also, swap grips to G10's. Maybe lose the beaver tail.

Oh Yeah!

I'm VERY anxious to compare the SAO trigger on this to my P220 Carry SAO which I'd say has a good trigger on it and is fairly crisp and light but I think certainly could be improved upon by removing the excessive take up / free play. I don't expect it to compare to my Fusion 1911, but as I said, I'm excited to see if it's improved over the carry.

Just shot it straight out of the box. I'll tweak it, since it appears to be just a tad high and left for me.
Nice review. Thanks for posting your results.
Hope you enjoy the "gun porn."

Hey guys,
Just wanted to clarify the specs on the three 5" guns we will be doing. The reverse two-tone DA/SA model will have fixed night sights. The SAO natural stainless & rosewood grip and the SAO Nitron & G10 model will have adjustable rear sights with white dot (contrast) front sight. Initially, the sight setups were swapped, but feedback from SHOT Show at both Sig's and our booth indicated that the majority of people wanted adjustable sights on the SAO models and fixed sights on the DA/SA. Later in the year we should have two 4.4" DA/SA models one in Nitron and the other natural stainless that will both have fixed night sights.

Thanks,

Jason Cloessner

Thank you for this update!

I think that Sig got this right, and I am appreciative of them responding to their customers. That is a great sign that goes beyond this project alone.

The pic in that link is correct. I am waiting on new pics for the other two to update the correct image for them.

Welcome Jason Smile

Should I anticipate any issues with the order I have in for the Stainless SAO Rosewood that was originally spec'd with night sights (Sig took away some of my sprinkles Frown )
My dealer ordered the spec I sent him from your website as well as a RTT DA/SA I believe for stock. Here is the spec I sent him -

SI220R510SSESAO
P220 SS ELITE 10MM SAO 5" NS
220R5-10-SSE-SAO|ROSEWOOD GRPS
10mm
UPC: 798681517626 MFG MDL #: 220R5-10-SSE-SAO

Also, is there a way for my dealer to find out how far down the list he is for delivery from Lipsey's?

For anyone else in the know, do we know if the grips on these pistols are interchangeable with the .45 P220s?
