Big .357Sig ho here. I have several chambered in it. If I'm not carrying my P365, I carry my G33 or G32. A 31 is my nightstand gun. My favorite is my 229 Sport. Ammo has gotten crazy expensive but I have a good amount on hand that I've collected over the years when I see a deal. I'd love to get a hold of an HK MP5 chambered it it. How's the reliability of that Aero Survival pistol? That multi-caliber (9mm/10mm/.357) may be calling my name. Cool

I actually have two,,,, one came as a rifle and the other as a pistol... there is no difference other than the paper work at my ffl.... but I got carried away and bought both barrels and bolts so I can convert either to both 9mm/357 as well as rifle or pistol (yes, I know). I'm actually having a problem with the one that is technically a pistol malfunctioning... failing to feed a round properly...It did not do this at first... I'm going to try lubing her up good the next time I go to the range. The worst problem is I'm not a Glock fan at all but because these only take Glock magazines I ended up holding my nose and buying three Glocks... 31,32c & a 19x

Does the pistol start malfunctioning after about 70-100 rounds?
Check all bolts and screws.

Do your Glock mags fit securely, or do they rock fore and aft when inserted?

Do the malfunctions occur with fully loaded magazines only, or when downloaded a few cartridges?

Since the .357 SIG is based on the .40 S&W cartridge, I think SIG needs to come out with the .357 Super SIG, based on the 10mm cartridge.

Edited to add - Whoa, there's the 9x25 Dillon, which is actually a 10mm necked down for a 9mm bullet.

Phone's ringing, Dude.

Being a texas LEO and not trusting the 9mm for offensive work, I carry a 357 Sig for duty. I run a small 9mm for off duty and keep 9mm bbl's for my guns for the SHTF scenarios. IDC how much better the new 9mm is it will never match the 357 Sig in performance and I dont want "almost as good" or "about the same" in round, I want the most lethal I can carry and shoot comfortably and will have th emost FIRST round terminal performance as possible. THAT is the 357 sig over 9 all day long. this is why (9mm) we (LEOS) are shooting folks 10 and 15 times now, i just dont think the 9mm is ever going to be the shot stopper that 357 sig is./

thanks, shawn

Thanks for the input,

I think I'm going to pickup the pistol w/the three caliber kit. I also have a couple of 50rd .40 drums and 31rd .40 mags that I got from Classic Firearms that would be fun to try with it. They'll supposedly feed .357Sig too but I haven't tried yet.

I'll always have some .357Sig in my stable. Cool

Famous last words on a forum, but if SIG made one, I'd buy one. We were talking about shooting at 100 yards for the fun of it; if Wiki's right (147 grains at 1,495 fps), the Dillon would probably be great for that (among other things).

I got lucky and got 6 50-round boxes in the last 2 days.

Got 3 boxes of good name brand ammo from a fellow member of the state-wide gun board yesterday. Today my local Cabelas had 3 boxes of, not my prefered brand, PPU Privi Partizan or whatever it's called, made in Serbia. I don't normally buy that brand but figured it would be just fine for going to the range and making noise & smoke and punch some holes in targets.

I know we all like to save money, but I'm at the point where I have some extra cash every month and just figure if I see Sig 357 I just buy it. I figure the only cheap day was yesterday.

I emailed Sam at SGammo dot com and asked him about it. I asked a few other in industry and there seems to be a best guess that the manufacturers make runs of certain calibers every so often (not including 9mm, 45 ACP, and a few others) and a time will come when a bunch will be made and go to market. When it does I'll just stock up. It's pretty darn good to be retired and living modestly and not buying suits and such for work again.

So, just a suggestion, if you have a good area wide or state wide gun board where you live, put a want to buy in their classifieds. Somebody may be sitting on some and no longer need it and would be glad to turn it to cash.

My preferred Practice round is Speer LawMan FMJ .357 Sig. The PPU compares to it.

One thing needs to be cleared up...

the 357 sig cartridge is not from a 40 caliber cartridge but is actually a 10mm cartridge necked down.... I'm pretty sure the big difference is the amount of powder that can be packed in.

As for my Aero survival pistol... the one thing is the brace that comes with it tends to twist and turn.... but like I said, these are very easy to convert to a long gun if needed.... but I would go ahead and get the barrel shields too.

FWIW, I'd heard that they needed to start from the longer case in order to get a long enough neck for the 357SIG case. Then again, I'm not sure what difference there would be in case strength (and, by extension, capacity). The .40, IIUC, was loaded about as hot as it could be from the beginning which, if I recall correctly what SIG advertising said back in the '90s, was why SIG claimed to be shifting to milled steel slides rather than stamped slides.

...What do you think? Just stay put or consolidate (sell off) away from the 357Sig.

I don't own any firearms in .357Sig. If you need or just want the money for something else, then by all means sell them off and don't look back. However, I would recommend you keep in mind several points.

First, due to that lack of popularity and ammo availability right now, you probably won't get top dollar, even with the .40S&W barrels.

Also, these things tend to run in cycles. So, yes, today, 9mm is seeing a resurgence of sorts. (Although I would argue that it never fell out of favor with private citizens.) That does not mean we won't see .357Sig/.40S&W come back into favor five or so years from now.

As I mentioned at the beginning I don't own any .357Sig firearms. But I've always been intrigued by the caliber. I think if I owned one I would certainly hold onto it.

.357sig is probably my favorite round, but it has gotten very expenses to shoot. I have sold off several 357sig/40s&w guns, but still have "too" many. I personally like having guns that have multi-caliber capability. With 229, 226, 2022/2340 Sigs having 3-4 caliber options has always appealed to me. I have no doubt that one day my son will inherit these guns and scratch is head trying to figure out what goes with what. Big Grin

This.

I personally will not abandon .357 Sig, but I wonder if my kids will grow up loving it as much as I do.
