I forgot to mention my 43x with an Osight SE green 6 moa.

I, like many here, have the luxury of having a hard time deciding what I want to carry some days. I like them all for different reasons.

I ask because I've done the same...have a few P229s and one of them is in .40. I took that one along on a couple of trips where I was mixing woods and city time and wanted a high-ish capacity semi-auto but also wanted a little more thump than a 9mm. I don't have a 10mm, so the .40 loaded with some hard-cast truncated cone seemed like the next best thing.

The vast amount of the time these days I am 9mm. The .40s live “around the house” so to speak. The reality is my first carry guns were in .40 and my house guns were .45’s. I always both liked those calibers and I’d be lying if there wasn’t some “young gun owner” carry any caliber as long as it starts with a 4 thing going on.

The P2000’s in .40 were my first P2Ks and I probably have more .40 down range with them then 9 and I shoot them really well (for me, that would be less shitty for the rest of you Frown).

If I elect to grab a .40 today it is likely nostalgia or possibly as a more powerful option out doors although I don’t really need to worry about critters these days where I am. If I’m completely honest there are times where I still hear that “9mm is just .45 set to stun” voice in my head. I know it’s not true but old habits and all that so sometimes I just like knowing I have a FOTAY. The fact that there is only a one round penalty really only makes the .40 being heavier the only real downside. Recoil is so light with HK .40s so that’s not a huge concern either. (Like with the P229/P239).

Long drawn out post to say….. I just like a .40 now and then. I mean I am already carrying an HK P2000 in 2026 I might as well dive into the deep end of the contrarian pool with .40 caliber too. Hell maybe I’ll grow a soul patch and start carrying my CZ’s and go full hipster. Razz

G43 with magguts mags. I’m a convert so have the holosun on there. Carry every day. Probably the first time I’ve had an EDC that worked at the office and off without having to really dress around it like I do with my 19 and 17.
Trying to figure out this guy vs my 365x so doing the Glock for a bit.

Smith 329, it’s summertime and bear season in Alaska. Not to mention we've had a black bear frequenting the neighborhood. So that’s what I’ve been carrying on dog walks and short hikes close to home.

Sig 365 Legion when I had errands to run in downtown Los Anchorage the other day.

Colt 1911 Defender in .45ACP most of the time.

Tomorrow we’ll be in Talkeetna doing a jet boat tour up the river. Probably carry my 3” Ruger GP-100 in 10mm. Small size and makes for a good carry gun that still packs a punch. While it’s heavier, it carries much more easily than my Glock G20.

G43x mos & G19. Nothing else gets carried. The G45 is off having some work done, and when it gets back it'll be in the rotation as well.

G43x EDC, G43 in my gym bag, PSA micro Dagger in my fanny pack for my evening walks. Same thing every day. Makes me wonder why I have so many other pistols.

For ME:
DA/SA=Sig 9mm or HK P30 LEM 9
Striker fired= Glock 9mm
If it's a .45= 1911
Suppressed= HK in .45
I like anything in 10mm
