I have a P230 7.65 cal, S 164 020 ....Slide is stamped "W Germany".....Is it related to the Japanese contract?...Can anyone tell me anything more about this gun? ...You, higher mammal. Can you read? ....There's nothing sexier than a well worn, functional Sig!

Does it have a frame-mounted safety? If not, it's not part of the Japanese contract. Though far less common that the .380 ACP chambering, SIG-Sauer did manufacture .32 ACP P230s, most of them (outside of the Japanese contract) early on in P230 production. Early examples of the .32 P230 will be marked on the left side of the slide "7.65mmB", the "B" standing for "Browning". The slides of early P230s have 27 slide grooves as opposed to later P230s, which have 11 slide grooves, spaced farther apart.

Yes, it is marked "7.65mm B" on the slide. It also has the frame mounted safety. It also has the lanyard clip thing at the bottom of the grip. ...You, higher mammal. Can you read? ....There's nothing sexier than a well worn, functional Sig!

The JP contract pistols are marked with the caliber on the right side of the slide, not the left, but, yes, yours is a Japanese contract pistol.
