Hello Folks, For what it's worth, I had SIG P.229R/DAK, .40 S&W with Serial Number AM296XX, which per Sits Customer Service was manufactured in February 2005. I unfortunately can't recall as to if I ever determined whether it was of German, or U.S. production, although if anyone believes it might be helpful here, I may be able to confirm the German or U.S. manufacture issue ?

Best regards, Dom P. / dpast32

P228 B276 4XX on barrel, slide, and frame.
Proof marks on frame = First mark denotes it was made in the Kiel region of West Germany. Second mark is an eagle with an "N" underneath denoting it was proofed in West Germany. Last set of marks are "KH" denoting built in 1997. Came in a red box as used. I bought it in 2005.

If anyone would like to find out if their Sig was made in West Germany I found a website called "Real gun Review" which had an article called
"SIG Sauer Proof Marks and Date Codes" written by a guy named Ferrari Steve dated March 17, 2016. It shows all of the codes down thru the years with pictures of the codes and where to find them.
