Ronin, I think it all comes down to what you want to do with it. A k can would be silly for long range precision shooting but really smart for just taking the edge off a small carbine. What guns and what are you planning on doing with them?

Not doubting any info here, I’ve heard about key-mo issues but I have no idea where the failure point is. Does anyone have any information on it specifically? Sorry for the thread drift "Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway." Steve McQueen...

I’m comparatively inexperienced compared to most here but I have learned a few things on the 4 suppressors I have. 1) .22 is very easy to suppress and it seems like most cans are very effective - I have a dead air mask and silencerco sparrow in .22 and both are movie quiet with subsonic ammo (mind you I use specific CCI Suppressor Max ammo to ensure they are really subsonic - the regular 1050 fps subsonic labeled ammo would often go supersonic out of my bolt action rifle in winter). 2) .556 cans - even good ones are really more for minimizing annoyance to lane neighbors in indoor ranges. It definitely reduces the report but does NOT make the gun hearing safe. 3) back pressure and gas are real issues for rifles/PCCs. This is especially noticeable if you shoot long guns lefty like I do (right handed but strongly left eye dominant). My 5.56 can is not a low back pressure can (Dead Air Sierra 5) and it blows a lot of gas. I can live with it because I have a left handed upper on my AR but still not ideal. I got a huxwrx flow-through suppressor for my Kuna 9mm which I can’t move the ejection port to the left side and it still makes a good amount of gas. I can live with it but it is a factor. Mags get filthy too. I’m still learning so paying attention to this thread. I’m not 100% happy with my current choices - the Sierra 5 is a bit gassy and the Huxwrx Flow 9K isn’t as quiet as I’d like. I’m actually wondering if there is something going on with the direct thread adapter I put on it that is somehow making it louder than it should be,

Way back in this thread I asked if you wanted advise on the tradeoffs to consider as you shop (like the P220Smudge discussion of taper mounts) or just go buy this and be happy. Now if its the former just write a contract with P220Smudge on what exactly you want and he will provide a detailed analysis of the options ![]() .22 ==> get a mask. be totally happy. Rugged Occulus same thing. 3D printed ones are coming (B&T Tiger comes to mind) but until we sort out the cleaning mess on .22lr for sealed suppressors I'm not ready yet. 9mm. Get a PTR Vent2 if you can source one. if the price makes you have hives then get a dead air majove 9. and if that makes you still panic get a rugged obsidian 9. problem solved. run 3 lug on the pcc's and a booster on the pistol. 5.56 toughest one. I'd get a B&T XH556 if I was buying for myself. Get a taper mount and move on (see P220Smudge post on this I concur). My second choice based on personal experience would be Ventum 556. Any of those and you will be happy and satisfied. Stand by for other lists and alternatives from others. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
