2002 Nissan SUV, 325k miles.
2012 VW sedan, 92k miles.

The VW is my commuter (good mpg), the Nissan is my workhorse.

At this point, I worry more about the VW quitting on me than about the Nissan.

If either of them gives up on me, I'll consider replacing both with one (probably 4Runner). Until then, I'm enjoying the cheap insurance on the Nissan and the great fuel mileage on the VW (diesel).

I'll be upset when I have to make "big boy" payments again....

God bless America.

At what point, if it does, does the age/mileage of your DD concern you?

Wow, you guys do a lot of miles. At my peak, I was putting maybe 15k-20k per year, mostly for personal reasons (not work related). Now, I drive about 5-8K per year. So, I expect my cars last a long time based on miles.

Current DD is a 2000 Toyota with about 180K miles. It seems like it'll last at least another few years / 30k miles that I'll need before I can afford to buy a new car. At that point, it'll be due for the next major service ($1500).

2012 Mazda5 with 170,000 miles on it

We bought it in 2014 for the wife with 30,000 miles on it and it's been pretty solid so far. I got it in 2020 when the wife got a new Odyssey, so when that's paid off then I'll get rid of this and get a new-ish car. Should be right around the 200,000 mile mark for me.

We just do not want to have two car payments.

I don't see a compelling reason to own anything made since the turn of the century really. If rust doesn't get it you can keep it running forever, and you can keep it running for a hell of a lot cheaper than you can purchase or fix a modern vehicle.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

4Runner would be the top contender for if I decided to go noteless.
But for +/- $10k there's not a ton of options with the market being what it is.

Always liked the 3rd gen T4R, but those are 22 years old at the newest & most that I've seen are around 200k miles as well. Which averages out to around 10k/yr which isn't terrible.

My daily driver is a 2020 4Runner Off-road Venture with only 21,000 miles. The age/mileage is not a concern. I expect this vehicle to last a very long time.

My one and only car is a 2020 Honda CR-V. It's in great shape and I maintain it for a long life. However, because I take long trips and don't have much off a "support system", I'll probably trade it in earlier than most. That said, I see owning it for another 2-3 years.

By "car note" do you mean buying on credit? If so I would "downgrade" and never have a car note.

I'm rocking a 2004 Lexus with 203,000 on the odometer. Put a water pump and timing belt in last fall and she rides like a big boat.

Pretty sure I can get at least 3 to 5 more years on her with no issues.

24 mpg around town and 27 mpg(lead foot) on the highway. Who doesn't like that out of a V8?

Cheers~

2014 Toyota Tundra with 110k miles. This thing is not even broken in. When I retire I likely won’t have a company car anymore so I’ll keep the truck but will get a big V8 RWD sedan of some sort to drive.

Wife has a 2015 Suburban with 107k miles I am constantly saying a prayer we can get 3 more years out of it.
I have owned a lot of vehicles and it is by far the worst maintenance money pit I have owned.

2015 Mazda CX-5 (85K) and a 2016 Mazda CX-3 (56K).
Both are garaged and have been maintained regularly and are in excellent shape.

Since my wife and I are both retired, we don't drive that many miles per year now.

I may get a new CX-5 this year, but then again maybe I won't.

Two vehicles in the stable:

2013 Tundra with about 68K on it. I will have had it for 11 years in April. No issues.

2020 RAV4 that just turned over 30K.

No plans to replace either one anytime soon, if ever. With some maintenance and eventual repairs, they should last until the kids take my license away or I assume room temperature.

I don't put a lot of miles on a vehicle, never have. IIRC, I've only ever owned one car that broke into 6 digit territory, that was a 1984 Dodge Ares K-car. As plain-jane grey-man as you can get but it just wouldn't die...

Thing on used late models is the high number of computer chips and digital parts in them, the GMC had all the computer, video cameras, lane change range sensing radar controlled speed etc. You must buy an extended warranty or risk major out of pocket costs for electronic failures, and waiting on replacements.

Not like going down to the auto parts store for a new fuel making happenier or spark-o-later on an older vehicle.
