I believe the authorities have been wrong about half the time. The other half they have been straight up lying. I have complied as necessary and carried on as normally as possible. I don't know which is the LEAST Bad... but they are about to have more vaccines than Americans who are willing to take it. America is about to hit a 'vaccine wall' as demand drops — with or without Johnson & Johnson even before the J&J news, the U.S. was already approaching a “vaccine wall” — the point at which supply outstrips demand, the country’s rapid pace of vaccination starts to slow down and every American who wants a shot can easily get whatever shot they want, whether it’s Pfizer, Moderna or the one-and-done J&J. The question, then, is whether there will be enough Americans willing to get vaccinated — not whether there will be enough vaccines for Americans who are willing. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Side effects are a risk benefit analysis that starts with FDA approval and ends once a physician orders the medication and a RN gives it (if in a hospital). I have given very nasty medication to people, but the alternative was worse. While I don't give chemo, chemo with all its horrible adverse effects is a good example of why adverse effects might be considered an acceptable level of risk. I have seen enough working in the ED to believe COVID-19 is real and that it has nasty knock on effects for a large enough number of people to be worth the risks of an emergency use approval for a vaccine. Other events also confirm it, just one example is hospitals paying to rent freezer trucks to expand their morgue; this is not normal outside of a disaster. I also doubt I will change anyone's mind here. If you don't believe the numbers being reported on COVID-19, then their is no reason to get a vaccine. If you do believe them, than even if this first vaccine is 10x worse than the Cutter Laboratories fiasco with improper preparation of Polio vaccine (the current data already indicates this is not the case) it is still better than just allowing everyone to get COVID naturally. mRNA does not alter genetics. Without other components, such as HIV reverse transcriptase, it cannot be integrated into the DNA. Viruses themselves introduce mRNA into our cells all the time. SARS-CoV-2 introduces the mRNA to produce the spike protein into your cells if you get infected (along with a bunch of other mRNA to produce other viral components), so it is unlikely an mRNA vaccine will do something the virus does not already do. If you don't want the vaccine, don't get it. If the vaccine causes problems for me, I promise not to play the victim and to own the consequences. In exchange, I expect the same from anyone who has long term effects from COVID they contract after a vaccine was available to them. Don't be a victim, own your decision and continue to do so even if it turns out to have nasty consequences.

Isn't that the problem though? Seems as if certain people don't want to allow people to own their decisions. Instead, they want to force their decision onto others. Mask, no mask, vaccine, no vaccine. I don't care. Can the other side say that?

I agree with a1abdj. I would say that most Sigforum people own their decisions and want to allow other people to own their decisions. That's one of the major things that separates us from the commie/socialist left. We just want to be left alone; we don't seek to impose on others. "Some things are apparent. Don't forget, when they enter the discussion it's important to chastise anyone that doesn't comply with their idea on how it should be handled... then, take every moment to be sure to interject into the discussion how horrible it is that we are for making them continue to suffer as we discuss this subject without being sensitive to the crisis.

About the "vaccine wall"... I got my 2nd shot yesterday at one of the big hospitals in town. It wasn't that busy, I was the only one there, and it ends up they're only doing it a few more days then shutting down.

Both sides are guilty of being assholes to those that disagree. The thread about laminating the vaccine card has people suggesting that getting the vaccine is the same as lining up for the gas chamber in a concentration camp. Get it, don’t get it. I really don’t care. A lot of people do though. A lot of people on both sides. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I’ve been doing a lot of research. Looking at available data on all that’s available. I’ve come to the conclusion that the best vaccine with the fewest side effects and risks is a shot of normal saline.

Some Inconvenient Facts - I'll just leave this here.... 5,800 COVID-19 infections detected among 77 million fully vaccinated people: CDC A small proportion of Americans — about 5,800 out of nearly 77 million — have contracted COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated against the infection, CDC officials told CNN. Of the 5,800 people, 396 required hospitalization and 74 died, according to data submitted to the CDC. As of April 14, more than 76.7 million Americans are fully vaccinated. Reports on breakthrough cases lag and may not reflect the most current events. https://www.beckershospitalrev...ated-people-cdc.html ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! Not as inconvenient as you might think. That represents a death rate of .0001% = 100% statistical effectiveness. I know it sounds cruel if you're one of the 74 out of 77,000,000 that died, but that's the math. Also, the article doesn't say that they died as a result of Covid, just that they died. If you take a survey of anything involving that many people, a certain number will die. Maybe they would have died anyway.
