wishing we were congress |
remember this ?: 10 Feb 2016 Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says fellow GOP primary candidate Chris Christie called him after Tuesday night’s New Hampshire primary to have a “long talk.” Asked whether he would seek Christie’s endorsement if the New Jersey governor drops out of the race, Trump praised Christie for his performance at last week’s GOP primary debate. “I think that Chris did an amazing job in terms of the debate, as a prosecutor, and he’s a friend of mine,” Trump said early Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “And he actually called me last night, and we had a long talk, and he’s a little disappointed because he really did do a great job, he did an amazing job during that debate,” he added. Christie had a disappointing primary night, finishing in sixth place in the Granite State after he appeared to be building momentum with successful attacks on primary rival Marco Rubio. The governor said he would return home to rethink his campaign.

Thank you Very little |
Why Cruz is in Trouble in TX While our resident Trump haters are engaged in the battle of why my candidate did better, you might consider that outside of the Cruz Compound a lot of people saw two pathetic candidates who are loosing, just increase the perception that neither Rubio or Cruz are worth voting for, Several in our group of scotch drinking cigar smoking caucasian anglo european observers like Cruz, none care for Rubio, but last night all felt like Cruz showed his ass, not his ability. Yeah I know you'll all say something cute about that, but outside of your Cruz Compound, not everyone sees it your way. Most I've talked with today were turned away from Cruz, which seems to be the way he works, either you have a man crush on him or you don't. Personally I like Cruz and he has a lot of good qualities, but last night he just reinforced the stigma of not being able to get along with anyone outside of his mindset. The big looser may well be Cruz, not to Trump but to Rubio, who is of hispanic origin, and courting the hispanic vote may do big damage to Cruz. Rubio will be the difference in Cruz winning big or possibly not winning TX at all.

Actually according to a book I am now reading, David Crockett saved his second term in Congress with essentially that line. Crockett apparently was never a policy wonk, not erudite in the least about issues, but was very popular, extremely likeable, winning people to his side with stories, jokes, buying booze, etc. When a candidate for his seat said he was a liar, he jumped on it with both feet, admitting, bragging about what great lies, big lies, he could tell, out lie, out shoot, out hunt, out rope, out drink, etc. anybody in Tennessee. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

It appears that many of us are going to have to reconcile ourselves to the fact that while Donald Trump is a first rate ass clown, he's going to be our ass clown nominee. I still hold out hope, but reality sets in stronger each news cycle, such as today's. Certainly Christie had a twofer going, sticking it to Rubio, and cementing consideration for a role in the Trump admin(Atty. Gen., if not VP-conventional wisdom about geography notwithstanding). And Trump and Christie certainly agreed to the timing of the endorsement, very smart to announce today, taking away the oxygen from Rubio and the buzz about last night's debate performances. I still worry about Trump the pseudo-conservative, and his potential deal making with the Dems. But the Dems have to be worried about the general campaign. That alone makes me happy.... Trump rally in Huntsville has to be moved to larger venue due to crowd size.... http://www.al.com/news/huntsvi...lly_in_huntsvil.html Donald Trump is no longer holding a campaign rally in Huntsville on Sunday. Instead, it's going to be in Madison. The Alabama Secretary of State's office announced Thursday night that the Sunday rally for the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination will now be held at Madison Municipal Stadium – the football home of Bob Jones and James Clemens high schools. The stadium, which opened in 2003, is located at 211 Celtic Drive in Madison. The rally is still set for 4 p.m. The campaign began looking around for alternative venues after larger-than-expected crowds began registering to attend the rally. As of Wednesday, almost 20,000 people had registered to attend the rally, which was originally set for AAL USA Inc. on Wall-Triana Highway. The event was to take place inside a 67,000 square foot hangar at AAL USA with a capacity for 20,000 people. It's the second time Trump has planned a campaign rally in Alabama and been forced to shift to a larger venue. In August 2015, Trump's rally in Mobile moved from the civic center theater to Ladd-Peebles Stadium. That rally resulted in the larger campaign crowd in the 2016 election cycle, with estimates as high as 30,000 for the event. hello darkness my old friend |
Trump can't be stopped. The republican party needed an enema a long time ago. Trump is the colon rinse. While I hate the thought of Trump, listening to Lindsey Graham make fun of him and Cruz pisses me off even more. I hope Ted stays out of this as we will need a new candidate down the road to pick up what ever is left.

Bad dog! |
Big deal that Christie endorsed Trump. Dole endorsed Rubio!! Yes! That would be Bob Dole! Right after Jeb! withdrew. Bob Dole threw all his influence and power behind Marco Rubio. That will bring The Donald to his knees! ______________________________________________________ "You get much farther with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone."

It's a self-serving not idealogical endorsement. Christie sees a winner and is siding with Trump in a self serving way- hoping for influence or a position. ____________________________________________________ The butcher with the sharpest knife has the warmest heart.
