Yeah I think there will be a few sound bites from that endorsement used against her. She sounded like she was on speed. Lots of flubs and seemed so rushed. It was kind of awkward to watch.

These go to eleven.

My best guess is that she thinks Trump will win the nomination, and it's better to back a winner. This is politics after all. Still, I think it tarnishes her brand among conservatives and evangelicals that she would support someone who has never demonstrated any dedication to the conservative cause, who holds many positions to this day that are the opposite of conservatism (ethanol, protectionism, etc) and who makes no attempt to even pretend to have any religious faith.

And as an aside, I think we can put away any fantasies of Trump/Cruz ticket. I do not see these two coming together.

That article chellim1 posted sums it up.

"For a long while now, Palin has not so much contributed arguments and ideas as she has thrown together a one-woman variety show for a band of traveling fans. One part free verse, one part Dada-laden ressentiment, and one part primal scream therapy, Palin’s appearances seem to be designed less to advance the ball for the Right and more to ensure that her name remains in the news, that her business opportunities are not entirely foreclosed, and that her hand remains strong enough to justify her role as kingmaker without portfolio. Ultimately, she isn’t really trying to change politics; she’s trying to be politics — the system and its complexities be damned. Want to find a figure to which Palin can be reasonably compared? It’s not Ronald Reagan. It’s Donald Trump."

^ ouch. but it sounds about right, some combo of her following his example and thinking he'll be the guy so she's getting out in front and hoping to ride his wave and sustain hers.

Earlier, Governor Terry Branstad dealt Cruz a bad cut by urging Iowans not to vote for him, because he was the candidate who was most against the Corn Socialism of ethanol subsidies.

Tough day for Cruz. Trump is making a lot of moves for a quick knockout.

Meanwhile, one poll puts Kasich rising to second place in New Hampshire, with twenty percent -- only seven points behind Trump.

Crazy.

Palin is a disappointment. But, glad to see Cruz not bending for the Corn Mafia and the ethanol issue.

I suppose that's about right. I guess she gave up politics some time ago in favor of celebrity. She and Trump are a great pair.

Cruz really did have a bad day. I've never seen something like this before, so maybe Trump is right about people not liking him, but I think it's for different reasons. Cruz has flaws, but he's a good man with principles and I think people can't stand that he won't abandon them. A few days ago he was a man in a really good boxing match. Now, it's turned into some kind of WWE event where everyone is running out of the locker to hit him with chairs.

The problem w/ Cruz vs. Trump is that Cruz has to stoop to Trumps lvl at times.

Am I the only one who thinks Palin endorsed Trump just to piss off the cranky old buggers in the GOP establishment who've been picking on her since she ran for Vice President?

I like what she says, but damn its painful to sit and listen to it. Its like when your wife goes on a tirade. She may indeed be correct, but you still want to go hide in the garage all afternoon.

Yep....I think Cruz got hit with "The Art of the Deal" today.
First the mandate from the Iowa governor to beat Cruz. I didn't really hear a reason and don't know much about him. Googled him and looks like he is at odds with the tea party types.
Secondly, the Palin endorsement which is cringeworthy if you watched the whole thing. Interesting times.

A Rubio Super PAC is hitting him with birther issues, the media jumps in with an NBC story about Cruz losing momentum, and a story about how much the establishment hates him. Just a bad day. My guess is the sharks will sense the blood in the water and tomorrow won't be much better.

After today, I also wouldn't put it past some of the other candidates to send their supporters to Trump in the caucuses.

The money trained on Cruz will be turned on Trump as soon as Cruz is knocked out.
