Cruz's 9/11 and New York values comments were likely just a mistake, or he was setting the Donald up for a great response, which he had. He can fix it if the becomes the VP candidate. That discourse will bump DT in his home state, seemingly at Cruz's expense. They may be lining up the 8 ball 5 shots away at the break.

So far there doesn't seem to much blockbuster points to criticize Trump on. He's rich! he's a birther, his son cut a tail off an elephant he shot, his wife is hot and an import, no political experience (a plus likely,) he had some non conservative beliefs in the past and some donations and praise for his dem associations.

I really now want to tell Trump to shut the hell up.

I don't see how going after Cruz like this is a good tactic. All it's going to do is really piss off the wrong people...including me.

"I don't think Ted Cruz has a great chance, to be honest with you," Trump told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in an interview on “This Week” Sunday. "Look, the truth is, he's a nasty guy. He was so nice to me. I mean, I knew it. I was watching. I kept saying, 'Come on Ted. Let's go, okay.' But he's a nasty guy. Nobody likes him. Nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him. He's a very –- he's got an edge that's not good. You can't make deals with people like that and it's not a good thing. It's not a good thing for the country. Very nasty guy."

On the campaign trail, Trump is now questioning the freshmen Texas senator for a loan, first reported by The New York Times, that Cruz took out from Goldman Sachs during his 2012 Senate run that he failed to disclose in federal campaign finance documents.

Stable and steady and a calm hand to keep this country safe." Trump sent a series of tweets aimed at Cruz early Saturday morning.

In an interview with The Washington Post earlier this month, Trump was asked if Cruz was eligible to run for the presidency, citing the fact he was born in Canada. In September, Trump had told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl that he felt Cruz, who was born to an American mother, was in good standing. But in recent weeks, including at Thursday's GOP presidential debate, he has said he fears a lawsuit on his eligibility will prevent Cruz from running.

Stephanopoulos told Trump that some legal scholars have suggested Trump himself would have standing to sue Cruz.

"Oh, that's an interesting case. Wow, that sounds like a very good case. I'd do the public a big favor," Trump responded, but he would not say whether he'd actually file such a suit. "It's a good idea-- maybe I'll talk to them about it. I'd like to talk to Ted about it, see how he'd feel about it. 'Cause you know, when I file suits, I file real suits."

He already explained it! He told Cruz that if he wanted Cruz to be his VP it would be great to have that issue out of the way.

Is Trump the perfect candidate? No. Will I vote for him? Yes. Because he is the one who understands the anger of the people against all those establishment assholes. I would vote for Cruz as well because he at least knows there is a document called the constitution and that is the law of the land.

Some of the comments here remind me of those who decided in the last 2 elections that since their idea of a perfect republican candidate was not running, they stayed home.

My view, if you don't vote, you got no right to complain at the election results.

Just what collateral did Cruz have at the time. I find it hard to believe that the income of a freshman senator would be adequate to justify a million dollar loan.

He also explained it two seconds later admitting it's because Cruz is doing better in the polls.

Trump is digging his own grave, but he's only down a few feet. He's not my first choice, but I don't want to see that happen. The problem is his ego won't let him stop. He's used to running people over, but that's not happening with Cruz. He's only hurting himself, but he's going to just keep plowing forward.

He just got booed last night in SC and now he doubles down and says he might sue Cruz himself? Levin was right, he needs to step back and think about things.

He listed the loans on one report, but not the other. If he was trying to hide them he wouldn't have listed them on a public record.

By the way, Rubio said illegals can stay. I thought he was going to stick around in 3rd, but that could really hurt him.

I may not be correct but I thought Cruz borrowed that money from his 401k, it was only held at those brokerage houses.If true he is not beholding to anyone.

On another note. Trump keeps saying that he can't be bought because he is paying his own way. While this may be true, do we really want to limit our candidates to people who are rich enough to self fund?

For the record neither of these two are my first pick but I would certainly support either one if nominated.

Worse his wife worked for Goldman Sachs and is a CFR member. This and him being for the TPP the first vote do leave some huge question marks in my book. The TPP is the death nail for America, we all already know about the white shoe boys at Goldman and the CRF.

And yes it is a real issue about his eligibility so let's get it out of the way now. Trump didn't start this issue he is pointing it out through. He is a very bad man for that wish him to the cornfield!

The Tweet is a fake but do we actually know who he voted for? Don't know that the question has ever been posed to him nor should it really as it's a private matter.
However I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out he did vote for Obama at least once if not twice.

Honestly I never spent a moment thinking about or wondering about what the hell Donald Trump was doing before this. Never watched one minute of the Apprentice or any other reality show he was on.

But he is the Donald and he is going to get his face on your radar screen regardless. And the one time he did was a number of years ago I remember seeing a snippet on the news with him and the Clinton's at some event all cozy together. Maybe it was his wedding I don't recall.
So I have always thought of him as a liberal democrat from that point forward.

I will vote for him without holding my nose but I won't be one damn bit surprised if we don't get what we thought we were going to get.

Say, did Hillary go to Ted Cruz's wedding? No, I don't think she did.

Think of all the federal construction projects Trump could build if he throws the race and Hillary wins. Sounds like New York values to me.

I criticize Trump relentlessly but I’ll never tell you that it was a bad thing that he ran this year. Trump is the great clarifier: He took a coalition of right-wingers uneasily assembled under the banner of “movement conservatism” and gave the ones who don’t really believe in conservatism the courage to declare their principles. Some are nationalists and Jacksonians; some, as David French said, are cultural conservatives who can do without the free-market mumbo jumbo; some are alt-righters. I know that Sarah Palin is not liked on this forum, but Ted Cruz said "that if it wasn't for Sarah Palin he would not have been elected."

Earlier, Governor Terry Branstad dealt Cruz a bad cut by urging Iowans not to vote for him, because he was the candidate who was most against the Corn Socialism of ethanol subsidies.

Tough day for Cruz. Trump is making a lot of moves for a quick knockout.

Meanwhile, one poll puts Kasich rising to second place in New Hampshire, with twenty percent -- only seven points behind Trump.

As I said on Page 28 of this thread, it is a msytery to me why Palin supports Trump. How one goes from being a Tea Party Conservative to a Trump supporter is a journey I don't understand.

My best guess is that she thinks Trump will win the nomination, and it's better to back a winner. This is politics after all. Still, I think it tarnishes her brand among conservatives and evangelicals that she would support someone who has never demonstrated any dedication to the conservative cause, who holds many positions to this day that are the opposite of conservatism (ethanol, protectionism, etc) and who makes no attempt to even pretend to have any religious faith.

And as an aside, I think we can put away any fantasies of Trump/Cruz ticket. I do not see these two coming together.
