He apparently said something in regards to Trump off the record. I'm not sure what it was.

Someone should tell Trump to be careful what he wishes for. He may be classy, but he isn't the guy he wants to get into a fight with. I love the "Deal with it" at the end of Cruz's Tweet.

I hope to God I am wrong - 1) because I'm not exactly down with a Trump presidency and 2) some really awful things probably need to happen for him to win. Trump is just outsmarting the rest of the republican candidates. He says things that are so out there (banning Muslims, etc...) that the Dems go nuts and the liberal media talk about nothing but what he is saying. He's even got the GOP saying he's out of his mind. So he's got everyone's panties in a wad - and what does he do? He continues to act like everyone who doesn't agree with him is clueless. Right NOW it is pretty easy to conclude Trump is clueless, right? Well, what if he is smarter than that and all this crazy stuff he is saying is an all in bet that terrorism on U.S. soil is going to get way out of hand. What if he is betting that the crazy shit he is spouting now will not be so crazy in 3-6 months? If these ISIS assholes start shooting up/blowing up schools (God forbid) and the American public has to deal with American kids, murdered by terrorists, on American soil - the shit is gonna get real. At that point the Dems are done - no amount of tough talk or saber rattling will save their ass in the next election. And all the people who thought Trump was crazy or unconstitutional for talking about banning Muslims from entering the country will be demanding all the ones already here be rounded up. There will be one guy saying "told ya so, should have listened to me". Yeah, Trump seems like a lunatic today - but if San Bernardino was just the start of something very, very bad - then you might as well paint the White House gold.

Seventy percent of Republican voters believe Donald Trump will be the GOP presidential nominee in 2016, according to a new poll from the conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports.

Approximately 31 percent say Trump is “very likely” to win the GOP nod, while just 21 percent say he is “unlikely” to be the party's nominee. Ten percent say Trump is “not at all likely" to be the nominee.

Trump’s surge this week, in the teeth of universal denunciation, suggests that a large slice of America agrees with his indictment – that our political-media establishment is dumb as a box of rocks and leading us down a path to national suicide.

Trump’s success tells us that the American people really do not celebrate “globalization.” They think our negotiators got snookered out of the most magnificent industrial machine ever built, which once guaranteed our workers the highest standard of living on earth.

They don’t want open borders or mass immigration. They want people here illegally to be sent back, the borders secured and a moratorium imposed on Muslim immigration until we fix the broken system.

As for the establishment, they are saying pretty much what The Donald is saying. To paraphrase Oliver Cromwell’s speech to the Rump Parliament:

You have sat here too long for any good you have done here. In the name of God, go!

if this were the standard, there would be 300+ job openings at the highest levels of government. (and I'm being generous with 300...)

I think a lot of Trump supporters like Cruz, so he's walking a very fine line hitting him. He also said, "I do like Cruz, but not a lot of evangelicals come out of Cuba". Seriously? That is either a shot at his dad or he's questioning Cruz's faith.

Blog: Trump attacks Ted Cruz for not supporting ethanol subsidies
By Ed Straker

Donald Trump attacked Ted Cruz for not supporting ethanol subsidies. He said in Iowa on Friday, "Oil companies give him a lot of money, so he's for oil."

The thing about oil and gas is, it doesn't require big subsidies, because it's the cheapest and most efficient form of fuel for cars. Ethanol, on the other hand, does require big government subsidies, because it is highly uneconomical. Ethanol is much more expensive than oil and gas and, gallon for gallon, produces much less energy than gasoline. That's why the government has to hand over billions in subsidies to big agri-businesses to keep it going. And that's also why the government has to force oil companies to blend ethanol in with their fuels. Because without government coercion, oil companies wouldn't do it, and the price of gasoline would be substantially lower than it is now.

Additionally, ethanol actually acts as a corrosive on car engines. It slowly degrades car parts over time.

But the worst thing about ethanol is that not only does it require taxpayer subsidies, and not only does it raise the price of blended gas, but it also raises the price of many different kinds of foods. Ethanol is made with corn – a lot of it. And when a lot of corn production is diverted to ethanol, there is less corn available to use for food. Corn is heavily used as a sweetener in many food products. By raising the price of corn, the price of many different kinds of foods are raised.

That is what subsidizing ethanol gives us. That is what Donald Trump is for and Ted Cruz is against. Ted Cruz is starting to lead in some Iowa polls, and he's doing it without this kind of pandering.

I think Donald Trump is fabulous when it comes to immigration and securing our borders, even better than Ted Cruz. But on economic issues, Donald Trump is no economic conservative. His tax plan would not lower taxes as much as Cruz's and would take many taxpayers off the tax rolls entirely, giving them no incentives to vote against tax hikes on the rest of us.

If only we could take the immigration part of Trump and merge it with the rest of Cruz, we'd have the ideal candidate.

Why would we want to shovel more money to our welfare farmers?
Oh, Iowa..., that's right.

I like Donald Trump, but he's wrong on Ethanol subsidies. It's harsh on car engines, and it's simply using a food crop to power our cars, funded lavishly by US Taxpayer money.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

The secret here is tax increases are generally levied against you. You never get the the opportunity to vote them either up or down.

Ethanol is a scourge as most things that require to be subsidized are. Too bad Trump is pandering this way.

I'm not so certain we know what we will get with Trump I'd much prefer Cruz but I will take bozo the clown over Hillary.

To me, that's one of, if not Trump's greatest, attributes. The only group more terrified of a Trump presidency than the Dem's are the GOP establishment.

So long as Trump is willing to rain hell down on both groups and their entrenched bureaucracies, I'm on board.

This really isn't too shocking. Evangelicals are strong in Iowa and it will be a tough test for Trump but after Iowa Trump should have clear sailing. He still dominates the polls nationally.
