Trumps quote, " he is war hero by way of being a POW".

I rook it as Trump was meaning, he was not Audie Murphy.

More of victim of circumstance.

As if it matters. Anyone who thinks Donald Trump has any chance at all of being our next president is either delusional or incredibly naive.

It's very good that all this is happening in the year before the election.

There in lies the problem, Trump and the majority of Americans have no clue as to what those pilots had to endure during Rolling Thunder. Every one of them are hero's. And the ones that got shot down even more so because they knew how fucked up those missions were but continued to fly anyway. LBJ should have been prosecuted for those missions.

So when Trump, with his 4 deferments in hand, makes a statement like he did it exposes what a piece of shit he really is, as if we needed any more evidence.

As I said earlier in the thread, Trump is serving his function as an iconoclast. Iconoclasts are not reverent of "war heroes", (whatever that means), so why is anyone surprised at Trump's remarks?

Do you think his McCain remark hurts Trump's chances of being president? Well, put your mind at ease. Trump has no chance of being president, so he can say whatever he wants with impunity.

Trump has as much chance as I do. But the fact that he is as high in the numbers as he is illustrates not how popular he is but how unpopular Obama is with all the other rinos in the field.
There is little to no difference between the Obama democrats and the establishment republicans. Maybe it is starting to dawn on some people.
Trump may be many things but he's not sounding like a politician. That makes him attractive to many.
Mostly to the people who stayed home last time around. That's the segment of people who could win this thing over. If we wind up with a candidate these people won't get behind it's over Johnny.

I know - but I would like to see The Donald & Madam Secretary debate just one time. Smile

In the vast boring sameness of politics today, it's refreshing to hear about "third rail" topics without the filter of fear in offending someone.

Just wait until those people being polled realize this is Presidential politics and not American Idol they are being asked about!

I don't imagine trump will be president.

But who here thought Obama had a chance of being elected in 2007?

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

There's two huge differences that I am astounded even need to be pointed out to you guys:

1. Trump is a KNOWN VALUE, unlike Barack Obama. If you need this to be explained to you, you're too far behind the curve to bother with.

2. The America press LOVES Barack Obama. Again, if you need this explained to you, ask an adult.

Now, would you guys please do me a favor and stow this "Well, we elected Obama" shit? Damn! Roll Eyes

That's where I'm at. I want him to remain in the race as long as possible. He seems to be doing a good job upsetting those who I typically despise.

What is the similarity between Bernie Sanders, socialist, and Donald Trump, arch capitalist? They both represent outsiders from the beltway enclave, non-establishment politicians. There is national disgust with the Democrats and Republicans. Being an outsider is a huge advantage, and could even be decisive. That was true of "crazy" Ross Perot, who would have won had he not withdrawn.

I don't think Trump will win the presidency-- I would not bet on it-- it's a long shot-- but far too much "impossible" shit happens these days for me to rule it out entirely. It seems like something impossible happens every day, sometimes more than once.

Thats a Washington Post poll.

Another Washington Post poll taken over the same period asked "If Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination would you vote for him?"

62% said "Definitely would not".
20% said "Would consider".
14% said "Definitely would".

That 24% number means absolutely nothing.

Yes.... a year and change out, it's fine. Entertaining, even.

But Donald Trump seems to think Donald Trump has a chance at being our next president. He may be either delusional or incredibly naive, but it could make him dangerous.

Don't go third party, Donald.

Here's a pair to draw to!

From Breitbart Texas:

quote:
Dallas Mavericks’ owner, Mark Cuban, jumped back into a war of words with presidential candidate. Donald Trump (-)%. Cuban took to his social media app, Cyberdust, to linguistically eviscerate Trump over the difference between net worth and cash flow. The duo exchanged nasty words last year as well.

“And the one thing about the race for the Presidency is that it takes a lot of CASH,” Cuban stated, according to the Dallas Morning News (DMN). “Not net worth. Cash. Cash. Cash.”

Cuban mocked Trumps claim of wealth. “He has been bragging that he is worth north of ten billion dollars,” Cuban began in his internet tirade. “Ok. While’s it’s a big number, it’s not an important number. In fact it’s a play number.”

The wealthy basketball team owner explained that if you own an asset like a painting, and you get it appraised for $10 billion, then that gives you a $10 billion net worth. Then he countered that big net worth doesn’t mean you have a lot of cash.

“In fact it’s possible to be worth billions, but not be able to pay your rent,” he concluded.

He asked readers to consider the question of how much cash the Donald has. “We don’t know for sure,” he said. “But we do know whatever cash he has, post his several corporate bankruptcies, he hates to spend it.”

He went on to call Trump a “Paper Tiger.”

It is not the first time the two wealthy men have come to verbal blows. Last year, the DMN reported an exchange that began when Cuban joked that Trump couldn’t afford to buy the NFL’s Buffalo Bills football team.

“He can’t afford them by himself,” Cuban claimed. “So it would be interesting to see what group he put together to buy them. It would make things interesting.”

Trump responded quickly and loudly, saying:

Mark Cuban is a lightweight whose net worth is a fraction of mine. He was rejected by baseball and probably plenty of others! By the way, the Dallas Mavericks deal is syndicated and his partners have been fighting him over poor management. While the Bills deal would be easily handled by me, if I chose to do it, almost all sports deals are syndicated.

By the way, I watched him play golf and he is a total non-athlete – zero clubhead speed. He lives vicariously through his basketball players.

Cuban responded by claiming not to be a golfer at all. “Funny because I never golf,” he said. “Never. 1x in my entire life. Donald, I’m glad you got the chance to watch me golf. Where? If you want to know the real story about my golf game, call my club, Dallas National and see what they have to say …”

Going back to this year’s battle of words about Trump’s presidential prospects, Cuban concluded, “It’s very possible that he doesn’t have the cash himself and has bragged himself into a position where he can’t afford the cash it takes to run for President!”

Cuban implied at the beginning of his Cyberdust attack that there would be more to follow. He said he has “So much to say that it can’t happen in one blast. But the first place to start is his [Trump’s] net worth.”

Sure, but if you are worth billions, why are you paying rent, or not paying rent, as the case may be?

A pissing contest between these two egomaniacs will be entertaining but not illuminating.
