wishing we were congress |
on 13 Dec, the NY Times had a long article about the Russians hacking the DNC and Podesta's emails. I just read some of it. But here are two interesting parts: When Special Agent Adrian Hawkins of the Federal Bureau of Investigation called the Democratic National Committee in September 2015 to pass along some troubling news about its computer network, he was transferred, naturally, to the help desk. 2015 His message was brief, if alarming. At least one computer system belonging to the D.N.C. had been compromised by hackers federal investigators had named “the Dukes,” a cyberespionage team linked to the Russian government. The F.B.I. knew it well: The bureau had spent the last few years trying to kick the Dukes out of the unclassified email systems of the White House, the State Department and even the Joint Chiefs of Staff, one of the government’s best-protected networks. Yared Tamene, the tech-support contractor at the D.N.C. who fielded the call, was no expert in cyberattacks. His first moves were to check Google for “the Dukes” and conduct a cursory search of the D.N.C. computer system logs to look for hints of such a cyberintrusion. By his own account, he did not look too hard even after Special Agent Hawkins called back repeatedly over the next several weeks — in part because he wasn’t certain the caller was a real F.B.I. agent and not an impostor. “I had no way of differentiating the call I just received from a prank call,” Mr. Tamene’s initial scan of the D.N.C. system — using his less-than-optimal tools and incomplete targeting information from the F.B.I. — found nothing. So when Special Agent Hawkins called repeatedly in October, leaving voice mail messages for Mr. Tamene, urging him to call back, “I did not return his calls, as I had nothing to report,” Mr. Tamene explained in his memo. By March, Mr. Tamene and his team had met at least twice in person with the F.B.I. and concluded that Agent Hawkins was really a federal employee. During this second wave, the hackers also gained access to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and then, through a virtual private network connection, to the main computer network of the D.N.C. The F.B.I. observed this surge of activity as well, again reaching out to Mr. Tamene to warn him. Yet Mr. Tamene still saw no reason to be alarmed: He found copies of the phishing emails in the D.N.C.’s spam filter. But he had no reason, he said, to believe that the computer systems had been infiltrated. switch to Podesta (Clinton Campaign leader): Podesta got an email saying he had to change his password immediately. The email was sent to Charles Delavan to check it. Delavan knew it was a phishing attempt. But Delavan emailed Podesta that it was a "legitimate" email by mistake. He meant to type "illegitimate". Podesta changed his password w the phishing attack and opened up his 60,000 gmail acct emails. ******************* These people wanted to run the country

Agreed, NO. There are 52 Electors that are demanding to have intelligence about the alleged Ruskie involvement. The leader of this cabal of questioning Electors is Christine Pelosi, yes, the daughter. She was grilled by Neil Cavuto and said of the 52 Electors, 50 are Democrats, 1 is Republican, and 1 is independent; hardly a "bi-partisan" group. Just another fraud attempt by the Dems. --------------------- DJT-45/47 MAGA !!!!! Well after reading that one can only conclude that Trump is responsible for the Russians hacking the U.S. Government sites. After all he did invite Putin to find the 30,000 e-mails Hillary lost. “We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. We have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics,” Pres. TRUMP AND THE TECH Quote: First everyone went around the room and introduced themselves — Jeff Bezos, of Amazon; Elon Musk, of Tesla; Tim Cook, of Apple; Sheryl Sandberg, of Facebook; Larry Page of Alphabet, Google’s parent company; Satya Nadella, of Microsoft, and other tech leaders. Mr. Trump was seated next to Peter Thiel, the tech investor who is a member of the president-elect’s transition team. Three of Mr. Trump’s children also attended. ************************************************* NRA Life Member Capital punishment means never having to say, "You again?"

This story got a lot of publicity. New York An 18-year-old muslim college student claimed she was verbally and physically harassed by a group of white, male Trump supporters When police investigated and found no evidence / no witnesses / no video, Seweid said she made the story up. She has been charged with making a false report. http://hotair.com/archives/201...filing-false-report/ http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news...ocialFlowTwt_NYBrand police sources have told NBC 4 New York that Seweid allegedly admitted to them she had been out drinking with friends, and made up the attack to distract her angry father.

So we have Dept of Energy refusing to identify the people who worked on climate change. Now the CIA refuses to brief congress after the claims that CIA "sources" believe Russia interfered to elect Trump. CIA refused to brief tomorrow. http://www.washingtonexaminer....robe/article/2609693 "It is unacceptable that the intelligence community directors would not fulfill the House Intelligence Committee's request to be briefed tomorrow on the cyberattacks that occurred during the presidential campaign," Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., wrote in a statement. "The legislative branch is constitutionally vested with oversight responsibility of executive branch agencies, which are obligated to comply with our requests. The committee is vigorously looking into reports of cyberattacks during the election campaign, and in particular we want to clarify press reports that the CIA has a new assessment that it has not shared with us. The committee is deeply concerned that intransigence in sharing intelligence with Congress can enable the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes." On Monday, Nunes asked National Intelligence Director James Clapper to address his committee in response to reports about Russia's attempts to manipulate the U.S. election last month "On November 17, 2016, you told the committee during an open hearing that the [intelligence community] lacked strong evidence connecting Russian government cyberattacks and WikiLeaks disclosures, testifying that 'as far as the WikiLeaks connection, the evidence there is not as strong, and we don't have good insight into the sequencing of the releases or when the data may have been provided,'" Nunes wrote in the letter. "According to new press reports, this is no longer the CIA's position."

This ought to pt a kink in the Democrats narrative about Russian hacking, assuming, of course, the media doesn't actively attempt to cover it up.
