Yeah, about August 1, when the temps are well above 110-120 in the shade, and no shade. Not to mention the lack of water.

Hegseth top contender for VA post

A senior Trump transition source tells Fox News that Pete Hegseth is currently considered the top contender for the secretary of Veterans Affairs position.

Hegseth visited Trump Tower on Thursday. Hegseth is a Fox News contributor and veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Fox News is told the search continues, however, and Hegseth was not offered the job at the meeting Thursday.

Other candidates are said to still be in the running.

The VA post is one of the last remaining Trump Cabinet positions (Agriculture is the other) for which the president-elect has not named a nominee.

(source: foxnews.com)

Mr Hesgeths bio:
Pete Hegseth joined the network in 2014 and currently serves as a contributor for FOX News Channel (FNC), providing analysis and commentary across FNC's daytime and primetime programming. He also serves as CEO of Concerned Veterans for America.

Prior to joining FNC, Hegseth was an infantry Captain in the Army National Guard, and has served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay. He holds two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman Badge for his time in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hegseth has a bachelor's degree in politics from Princeton University and master's degree in public policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

... another possible cabinet member that actually knows what he/she should be doing ...

Muslim Woman Made Up Hate Crime on Subway, Police Say
By CHRISTOPHER MELEDEC. 14, 2016

An 18-year-old Muslim woman who claimed that three men attacked her on a Manhattan subway this month and tried to pull off her hijab was charged on Wednesday with filing a false report, the police said.

The woman, Yasmin Seweid, a student at Baruch College, was also charged with obstructing governmental administration, the police said. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Ms. Seweid, of New Hyde Park on Long Island, had told the police that three white men screaming “Donald Trump!” attacked her on Dec. 1 on an uptown No. 6 train at East 23rd Street, DNAinfo.com reported.

She told the police that the men had called her a terrorist and that when she tried to move to the other end of the subway car, one of them followed and tried to pull off her traditional head scarf.

DNAinfo reported that she recanted the story on Tuesday and had made it up to get attention because of problems she was having with her family.

It was not immediately clear if she had a lawyer.

A spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Ibrahim Hooper, said in an interview on Wednesday that Muslims in America were feeling “tremendous psychological stress and pressure” that can result in episodes like this one. Roll Eyes

“No one out of the blue decides to make this kind of report,” he said. “Whenever there are these rare instances of alleged false reports — it’s still an allegation at this point — it’s used by the growing Islamophobic community to delegitimize and undermine the many legitimate anti-Muslim incidents.”

Doris Burke contributed research.

As far as the "Russian Hack" goes, has anyone compiled a list of reasons why its absurd yet? And also hypocritical of the left to discuss "Foreign Influence" in the election? Here is my go at it (please add to the list or correct anything I have wrong):

Why its absurd:
1. Podesta gave up his email through a phishing scheme, his emails weren't hacked.

2. An "anonymous source" at the CIA is responsible for claiming that a hack even took place, which is no way reputable and there is no evidence other than his word. (I may be a little off on this one, someone else please chime in).

3 The FBI came out and publicly disagreed with the CIA about a hack.

4. Obama even said (interview with Trevor Noah)there wasn't evidence showing that there was a Russian influence on the election.

5. The CIA refuses to provide a congressional briefing giving the details of the "hack" (highlighting the fact that they have no evidence).

Why its hypocritical:
1. Hillary accepted 25 million in campaign contributions from the Saudis alone, as well as much more form other governments.

2. Obama influenced the Brexit vote, but complains openly of foreign influence.

3. As President-elect Trump tweeted: If they are so concerned about Russian hacking, why bring it up NOW rather than before the election?

4. EVERYONE on the left laughed at Trump when he said the system was rigged against him, and some famously said "Its not rigged, you're just losing." Then afterwards, those same people are screaming "Rigged!"

Finally, even if the whole thing somehow miraculously turned out to be true, it doesn't change the vote tally for Trump. And even in the states where recounts took place, no evidence was found of voter fraud at all, EXCEPT in MI counties that Hillary won where votes exceeded the voting population! And in fact, most recounts led to additional votes for Trump!

Nice.

Monica Crowley, the online opinion editor at The Washington Times, has been tapped to be senior communications strategist for national security in the new Trump White House, the transition team announced Thursday.

The only thing that appears ISlamophobic in this country are the Muslims that report false crimes, attack non-muslims for insulting their religion, and crying wolf (ISLAMOPHOBIA!!!) every time they think they've been slighted.

Because so what?!! So what if I did the hacking and gave them to wikileaks? So what if Fox News did it? So what if the New York Times did it? The hack would be a crime, yes, but so what?

Did anyone claim the information was false? Did anyone claim legions of Russkies illegally voted for Trump in the election?

What we have is truth being exposed and then voters making their decision perhaps considering that information. That's it.

The left promoted stories of Trump saying rude things about women. The left promoted a story of him mocking a disabled reporter. Various advocacy outlets engaged in fear mongering that Trump would start WWIII, take away women's birth control, empower the KKK to lynch blacks, etc. And then many voters decided to vote Hillary based on that information whether accurate or not.

So I don't really care who hacked the DNC or Podesta from the standpoint of influencing the election. Factual information came to light, and that is a good thing!

Well, I suppose it could be said that Hillary Clinton ran the most transparent campaign in US history.... albeit accidental on her part.

The bands that have performed at the last five inaugural parades — plus all other local groups — have not applied to participate in President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, NBC 4 Washington reports. “I think everybody knows why and no one wants to say and lose their job,” Howard University band director John Newson, whose band marched for President Obama’s swearing-in ceremony in 2009, told the local news affiliate.

Yeah, they're all racists. Clearly. Trump is white, Howard University is a historically black college. Thus we can conclude they are racists for not playing at Trump's inauguration.

Every white person who opposes anything Obama is a racist, right? Just applying the same logic back at them.

I can understand not wanting to bother with the parade.

I was in the band in 1965. We flew to DC, stayed in some old barracks at the Navy Yard. On Inauguration Day, we were bused over to the Mall at around 8-9 AM, where we stood around in sub freezing temperatures and snow on the ground. The cermony took place at the Capitol at noon. The speeches and lunch in the Capitol followed. It might have been 2 pm before the parade started. "Smiling Ralph" Yarborough, the Senator from Texas then, glad handed us for several hours. I guess he wasn't involved in LBJ's festivities.

It was miserably bitterly cold. We did the parade, presented the original manuscript to LBJ March to LBJ the next day and flew home to Austin. A few days later, we were startled to see on national tv an hour special, "The President's Illness." He had caught cold!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

They may have whatever reasons they have in mind, but it is not a particularly inviting prospect in my experience.

I didn't much care for freezing my ass off for LBJ. Of course, I was just the skinny tuba player in the back of the band, not the invite decider.

If the parade were being held at Mar Largo, they might think to reconsider.
