Oh no, the Jan 6th committee has voted to refer Trump to the DOJ for criminal charges! Eek

As if there was ever a chance they wouldn’t. That panel knew they were going to do that the day they were formed. And I hope every conservative did too. That panel was a sham and only existed to harass Trump.

Criminal charges...hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic. Even Biden's DOJ will completely ignore this ridiculous referral.

Ya know, as sad as this sham is and how transparent it is, if the DOJ should get this to trial there is a good chance that a DC paneled jury could cause Trump big problems. There is no justice for a conservative in DC.

Jan. 6 Committee Democrat slammed for calling Electoral College a 'danger' to Americans

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., added there was room for 'a lot of strategic mischief' with the constitutional process

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., was criticized on Monday after he said the Electoral College has become a "danger" to Americans and to democracy.

"The Electoral College now – which has given us five popular-vote losers as president in our history, twice in this century alone – has become a danger, not just to democracy, but to the American people. It was a danger on January 6," Raskin said on Sunday during CBS's "Face The Nation."

Raskin added that there was a lot of room for "strategic mischief" within the Electoral College.

"There are so many curving byways and nooks and crannies in the Electoral College, that there are opportunities for a lot of strategic mischief. We should elect the president the way we elect governors, senators, mayors, representatives, everybody else. Whoever gets the most votes wins."

The Electoral College was set up to have the President elected by the states, not by the citizenry directly. As such, it IS in opposition to direct democracy, but the Founders wanted a country that was a collection of states, and the EC was part of their plan to achieve this. They were very cognizant of the potential "tyranny of the majority" that had conquered many prior democracies, and found ways to put limits on it. The EC was one of the ways. Another was having one of the houses of Congress made up of Senators, of which each state had 2, irrespective of its population. Our Union has succeeded with its current construction, and I don't suppose to change it.

Please, people. Don't get giddy by the SCOTUS decision today on Title 42.

The court was only asked if it would entertain a hearing by the 19 states on Title 42. It was an application to be heard. Nothing more, nothing less.

The court granted the application request 5-4 but I agree that the dissenting opinion to deny the application was better reasoned and I believe that it will be the majority view after the Feb hearing. The only possible way I can see with upholding Title 42 is for the court to say the Administration has no effective public policy in place to screen for COVID or other illnesses.

January 6 Committee Withdraws Subpoena for Trump

The Jan. 6 House select committee withdraw its subpoena of former President Donald Trump, which prompted a victory lap from his attorney and the former commander-in-chief himself.

The panel’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), said in a letter to Trump’s attorneys that the committee is no longer pursuing the subpoena that was issued in October for the former president’s testimony and documents regarding the Jan. 6, 2021 incident at the Capitol.

^^^^^ It's a welcome thing, but not very useful. DOJ is still considering filing charges.

The committee has always played footsie under the table with Garland.

They know that: 1. Trump will make a show if he shows, 2. He'll invoke the 5th, 3. They have set precedent for Biden to be hauled in once he leaves office, 4. The October announcement was only a stunt to drive people to the polls, 5. They know Garland is planning on filing charges or 6. All of the above.

a long article by Lee Smith. Worth a read. Ties together several years of FBI efforts to take down Donald Trump.

How the FBI Hacked Twitter

Highlights efforts triggered by obama. And also shows how involved James Baker was . Baker the former FBI General Counsel.

Lots more in the article than just Twitter issue

The fbi and doj actors all just walk like nothing ever happened. Such a waste of money and LE ageancy resources. Dirt bag criminals who need to be punished.
