It's not that Trump is unelectable it's that he won't be allowed to be elected. Thought we learned that in 2020. As has been said on this forum many times since 2020 It's not who votes it's who counts the votes. Not much has changed in vote tabulation since 2020. If that were true, Donald Trump would have never been POTUS. You don't know what's going to happen, any more than the rest of us.

What Trump said recently is no different than the 500 things he said in the past. And what he said will not impact the election this week. We have archived Trump threads, look at them, and the same reactions when he said shit about John McCain, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, etc. etc. The "grab 'em by the pussy" episode had many members running for the door. And guess what? Not only did Trump become POTUS, he made America the Top Dog Bad Ass Motherfuckers on the planet after eight miserable years of Obama. And we are now essentially in Obama's 3rd term. Trump is the absolute best candidate now, no one else can withstand the sheer onslaught the media will fire at him. He has the experience and he is battle-hardened, he won't bend. Trump is a known entity, a fierce representative and someone who understands better than anyone the evil that he's going to be up against. As far as "polarizing", no matter the Republican nominee, that person will face an onslaught of hate just as much as Trump, don't fool yourself. It is amazing that some naive people think that someone other than Trump will be treated better by the media and Democrats if he is kinder, has no mean Tweets, and doesn't verbally call out people. The "Statesman" approach failed miserably for Mittens Romney. And that was 10 years ago, when the media was a little more kinder and gentler. He is "polarizing" in the fact that Democrats and RINOs still hate his guts. And some people buy into the illusion that he is toxic because the media has been pounding it for the last two years, and Trump had no real forum to defend himself. And also may I add- Trump is beloved by those outside the political superworld, folks who don't vote often, who don't watch political shows, who don't pay attention to polls and pundits, who may not even know who the hell Ron DeSantis and Kari Lake are. But they know Trump. Folks in the lower echelons of the economic class, those in rural areas, blacks, hispanics, etc. Unlike any other candidate before him, Trump has an unparalleled ability to connect with middle America common citizens, those who are out of reach from the Democrat and Republican elites. Given his outrageous personality, Trump still managed to receive 11 million more votes in 2020 than his victory in 2016. Not only did his base from 2016 vote for him the 2nd time around, 11 million more voters jumped on the Trump train. And his 70 million plus votes in 2020 was more than any previous POTUS in history. The Democrats know, this, which is why they attack him daily, two years post presidency, and make him the focus of their campaign agenda and State of the Union speeches. They're extremely frightened of him. And they should be, because he will become the Republican nominee. As Para says, nobody knows what's going to happen in 2024. Trump will be 78 in 2024. If he runs, or when he runs, he will be the second oldest man (behind Biden) to run for President. At that age, health issues can pop up unexpectedly. Although it's certainly fair to say that Trump seems to have a lot more energy than Biden. Just about anything has more energy than Biden. So who knows what will happen with Trump's health. Can Trump win in 2024. You bet. Of course. But I don't see any kind of landslide. Trump generates tons of enthusiasm, but he also generates a lot of hatred from many who loathe him. One of my neighbors says she will vote for any Republican who runs in 2024, except Trump. She says if he is the nominee, she would vote for Biden. Is that rational? Of course not. But who says people vote rationally? That's just one person, so it means nothing. My only point is Trump generates strong feeling. What's my opinion on this worth? Nothing. We'll see what happens.

I voted for Trump twice and I'm thankful that he exposed the swamp and how multiple levels of government are overly working to retire and maintain their sense of how Washington should function. But I don't want him to run again. He was a wretched president who never grew into the job and became presidential. He needed to stop with the knee jerk tweets and use the bully pulpit. There's no reason for him to be have a tweet battle with Rosie but he did and that's lowering the standard of the presidency. He will remain a strong voice and an influence in Republican politics, as we're seeing but he's best used to shape and move the conversation as a private citizen. He knows the game and how to move pieces around but DeSantis or Cruz have chops too.

One of my friends (and a neighbor) worked for Donald Trump when he was running a few casinos in Atlantic City. My friend was an executive who often had personal contact with Trump. This will probably surprise nobody, but to say the least Trump was a very difficult man to work for. Most of the executives would last about 18 months before they were fired or, more common, demoted. My friend managed to last until Trump left Atlantic City. He says he did it by constantly praising Trump and stroking his ego. Trump set up a separate corporate entity for his AC properties to protect his other businesses. His AC corporation eventually declared bankruptcy. A lot of investors who went in with Trump lost a lot of money. “He put a number of local contractors and suppliers out of business when he didn’t pay them,” said Steven P. Perskie, who was New Jersey’s top casino regulator in the early 1990s. “So when he left Atlantic City, it wasn’t, ‘Sorry to see you go.’ It was, ‘How fast can you get the hell out of here?’” I am sure none of this surprises anybody. So what's the point of me mentioning this? I actually think that if Trump wins, he is going to have a hard time finding good people to work for him.

I voted for Trump twice and think he did some great things for the country. Unfortunately, the longer he is around the harder it is going to be for Republicans to win. He needs to fade off into the sunset and let DeSantis give us a chance. ____________________________ NRA Benefactor Life Member GOA Life Member Arizona Citizens Defense League Life Member

Not for me, I'm hoping they will reconcile if need be. This ticket would be unstoppable.

I’m not sure “they” need to reconcile as 100% of this new beef seems to be in Trumps head. I have not heard DeSantis say anything bad about Trump, but Trump can’t stop talking about DeSantis. He did it again today. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Trump needs to STFU about DeSantis. He's doing neither us nor himself any favors. If he's running and looking ahead to a primary is one thing, but this constant sniping is just stupid if he's not.

Why? How is SeSantis any different than McCain, Romney, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, etc? Just because you like DeSantis?
In case you haven't figured it out, Trump is looking ahead to a primary. "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

What's interesting (and amusing) about this whole Trump/DeSantis business, the recent ill-feelings and emotions about Trump, is that long before the midterm election, long before Trump's recent comments, the leftist mainstream media has been pushing along the same exact narrative that is being embraced by some ex-MAGA folks now; that DeSantis is smarter, nicer, more disciplined than Trump, that Trump is entirely unelectable., etc. And these same media entities have been painting DeSantis with a much kinder brush than Trump ever got since 2016. CNN: THE WASHINGTON POST: POLITICO: MSNBC: And from a few days ago: The Swamp, including Paul Ryan, The Bushes, Meghan McCain, The Lincoln Project, etc.- have been pushing the same narrative for months also, pushing the idea of DeSantis replacing Trump. The media and the Swamp for years could not beat Trump and sway his voters, so they came up with another strategy- to divide and splinter MAGA with another similar guy, maybe Trump-Lite. One who may be more pliable down the road. Divide and Conquer MAGA. It is funny; the media and the Swamp must be in heaven right now, because their strategy seems to be working now. Some ex-MAGA voters, the media, and the Swamp, all finally in lock-step heading to 2024. The media aren't calling the shots in this; Donald Tump is. DeSantis has already said he's not going to run if Trump runs, and boys and girls, I'm here to tell you- Trump is running. DeSantis will have four more years as governor, Trump will have his shot, and even if he loses, he'll never again run, and then Ron can have his turn at bat. But, that's a long time from now and many things can happen in the interim.

Oddball is correct. Mainstream media IS mental brainwashing. It is relentless, and weak minds are succumbing more and more as it is reaching a fever pitch. ________________________________________________________ You never know...
