I'm not too worried, because we're all in this together and everybody's here for me: News stations, entertainers, banks and lenders, car dealers, fast food corporations.... Everybody is here for me.

Can't get any of the fuckers to mow my lawn, though.

late March... was like years ago in terms of this virus. Things are no where near as frantic now.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

No new COVID-19 cases from Lake of the Ozarks crowds, Missouri health director says

Michele Munz

ST. LOUIS — The large crowds of people at the Lake of the Ozarks over Memorial Day weekend have not led to any more reported cases of COVID-19, Missouri’s top health official health department said Wednesday.

“The answer, to our knowledge, is no,” Dr. Randall Williams, director of the Department of Health and Senior Services, said when asked whether more cases have come from the gatherings, photos of which showed throngs of people close together without wearing masks.

Williams answered questions during a daily news briefing in Jefferson City hosted by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson to address civil unrest and efforts to contain the coronavirus.

Pictures and videos of the lake crowds had prompted concern among the public and health officials.

One person, a Boone County resident, tested positive last week and likely was infectious while among the crowds. That is according to the Camden County Health Department, which has jurisdiction over much of the Lake of the Ozarks region.

Parson used the news conference to tout improvements in Missouri’s testing strategy, the decreasing percentage of positive cases and big drop in the number of hospitalizations from COVID-19.

About two weeks ago, the governor announced a strategy that included testing hot spots such as meatpacking facilities and testing more people with no symptoms. The goal was to complete 7,500 tests per day. Missouri surpassed the goal and averaged 8,000 tests per day last week, Parson said. About 80 days ago, the state was scrambling to do 100 tests.

The positivity rate — the percentage of tests with positive results — is 6.5%, well below the 10% recorded recently, he said.

Community testing events were held in St. Charles, Jackson and Boone counties last week. Testing in Jefferson, Greene and Cape Girardeau counties is taking place this week.

Over the past month, Parson also said, statewide hospitalizations for COVID-19 have dropped by more than 40%.

“Our hospitals are not overwhelmed. Our positivity rate continues to decline. People are recovering, and we are moving forward,” he said.

Hospital admissions and hospitalizations for COVID-19 continue to drop in the St. Louis area, according to data reported Wednesday by the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force.

The average number of COVID-19 patients in a hospital over the past week fell to 346 from 354, while the seven-day moving average number for new daily admissions dropped to 19 from 20. The most recent daily report shows 15 people were admitted to hospitals.

The task force compiles numbers from four leading health systems in the region: BJC HealthCare, Mercy, SSM Health and St. Luke’s Hospital.

Missouri on Wednesday reported 192 additional positive cases and three additional deaths, increasing the toll to 786. Illinois, by contrast, saw 982 new cases and 97 additional deaths, bringing the number of dead to 5,621.

St. Louis County, which accounts for more than half of the COVID-19-related deaths in the state, recorded 43 new cases, for a total of 6,058, and two additional deaths.

The city of St. Louis reported one additional death from the disease. St. Charles, Franklin and Jefferson Counties reported no new deaths. In the Metro East, St. Clair County recorded two new deaths and Madison County had three.

St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson on Wednesday credited declining numbers to hand washing, social distancing and the city’s stay-home order that lasted eight weeks. But she also said the potential spread of the virus through recent street protests drawing hundreds together is a “big concern” of hers.

“We don’t know what will happen to these numbers after we see the results of lots of people being together in very large groups during the demonstrations and protests. Some folks were wearing masks, some folks weren’t. But certainly, folks were not social distancing,” Krewson said. “So we’ll see — fingers crossed — let’s hope that doesn’t result in a big bump up.”

Dr. Alex Garza, commander of the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force, said congregating closely increases the probability of spreading the coronavirus. But being outdoors — where the virus can disperse more quickly — and wearing a mask decreases the risk, Garza said.

“We are still not sure how UV light (from the sun) will impact the virus,” he said. “But presumably it will help decrease transmission.”

Things that increase the risk include the density of crowds as well as if demonstrators are yelling and speaking loudly, he said, “which produces greater volumes of droplets and aerosolization of the virus.”

Symptoms on average don’t appear until five or six days after exposure. Some might not experience symptoms.

As far as whether hospitals are able to breathe a sigh of relief after Memorial Day gatherings, Garza said officials “will give it a couple more days.”

Lancet Retracts Medical Study Critical of Hydroxychloroquine – Study Results Were Designed for Political Purposes

The medical journal Lancet has now fully retracted their prior claimed “scientific study” against the use of Hodroxychloroquine. The Lancet study was quickly and purposefully used by all major media outlets to attack President Trump for his advocacy of the drug as an effective treatment for the COVID-19 virus.

It now appears the purpose of the fraudulent “scientific study”, conducted by a sketchy outfit called Surgisphere – who mysteriously appeared only after President Trump advocated for the treatment, was to weaponize medicine for political purposes.

LANCET – Today, three of the authors of the paper, “Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine with or without a macrolide for treatment of COVID-19: a multinational registry analysis”, have retracted their study.

They were unable to complete an independent audit of the data underpinning their analysis. As a result, they have concluded that they “can no longer vouch for the veracity of the primary data sources.”

^^^ Surprise, surprise....

So the British modeler who told us millions would die has gone down in flames and now the Lancet study has gone similarly.

Remember, Lancet is the same journal that created the whole anti-vax movement with another bogus article that was retracted.

On Wednesday I delivered prescription meds to a nursing home near Winston-Salem. Since the virus, no one goes in any of these places - you ring the bell and someone comes to the door and you hand it to them and get their name and that's it.

This place has a big sign that anyone entering must wear a mask. The nurse came to the door opened it, let me halfway in, and neither she, nor I, nor any of the residents sitting around had a mask on! I jokingly said "where's y'alls masks, and she just laughed.

https://hotair.com/archives/jo...-unemployment-fraud/

Washington officials said Thursday they believe they have recovered about half of the hundreds of millions in unemployment benefits paid to criminals who used stolen identities to file claims during the coronavirus pandemic.

Employment Security Department Commissioner Suzi LeVine said officials are still working to determine the final amount paid out fraudulently, but they believe it was between $550 million and $650 million. To date, the state has recovered $333 million, she said.

Washington has paid out a total of $4.9 billion in benefits so the $650 million figure represents about 13 percent of the total, half of which they have gotten back. The nature of the fraud was the filing of false claims using identities of real people which had previous been stolen online. The fraudulent claims are coming from West Africa, specifically, from a group of Nigerian scammers dubbed “Scattered Canary.”

Over the last several weeks, [cybersecurity firm] Agari has been working alongside law enforcement to share information on the threat group and its methods, said Crane Hassold, Agari’s senior director of threat research.

“This is essentially a perfect storm for these groups [to take advantage of],” said Hassold. “You have billions and billions of dollars that is being handed out by the federal government [for emergency purposes], and you have states that need to pay out legitimate claims very quickly. Usually, there is a validation period and a waiting period for most unemployment claims, but because of the current circumstances of COVID-19, these claims need to be paid out immediately.”

“It is extremely likely every state is vulnerable to this scheme and will be targeted if they have not been already,” the Secret Service memo said. The tactics described resembled attempts to file fraudulent income-tax returns, a problem the Internal Revenue Service and states have faced for years.

The Secret Service said hundreds, if not thousands, of “mules,” or intermediaries that help launder stolen money out of the country, appeared to be supporting the fraud scheme, in some cases unknowingly. Local and national banks, as well as credit unions, have been targets.

The Inspector General for the Department of Labor has warned that this type of fraud, beyond this one Nigerian group, could total as much as $26 billion.

Meanwhile, because the fraud involves real people’s identities, officials are having to sort out duplicate claims in some cases, i.e. people whose names were used in the fraud but who also filed real claims because they lost their jobs. Some of those unfortunate people are currently having to wait until the state can sort out which claims are real before they can collect their unemployment.

Oh yeah, I believe that. Maybe they've had such good success with this effort given the Tooth Fairy has been assisting them.

I am friends with one of my wife’s college friends on Facebook, and she proudly posted photos today of her five-year-old child with a mask on, on an outing to a store, explaining how he has not been out of the house in three months or had any interaction with anyone else since then. As if she’s proud of screwing up her kid like that. Eek My children, age 3 and 5 have been together with their cousins and certain other friends since March, and have had zero issues, it’s just not healthy to keep them isolated like that, I cannot believe some people. Confused

De Blasio claims spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations not linked to massive protests . Ok clear this up for me please. Thousands of people packed into the streets yelling, singing and chanting is bad but a Jewish funeral or people protesting being imprisoned in their house will kill grandma. Ok.... Roll Eyes

I wouldn't post a link to CNN story for factual insight to reality, except in this case where they seem to be verifying what I've said for years; People are stupid!

A third of Americans surveyed engaged in risky cleaning behaviors during the Covid-19 pandemic. Some have even gargled with bleach.

People have put bleach their food. Others have gargled or inhaled it. And some have washed their bodies with household cleaning and disinfectant products.

Of course I have a SIL who has warned me not to keep hand sanitizer in the car since it may spontaneously combust. Seen it on the internet. I get that a 70% alcohol mixture is flammable, but only if open, exposed to flame/spark or if interior of car reaches 500 degrees or more.

I followed the thread early but not so much lately.

Have any members contracted it and post first hand experiences?

I contracted it this week symptoms began last night. I was tested and it was positive.

This virus is an ass kicker. Fever at 101.7 - 101.5 without tylenol. I am absolutely exhausted. This is easily as bad as the worse flu I have ever had.

I have never lost time before, I am so lethargic I drift off the sleep and drift back to consciousness without realizing I was sleeping. I look at the time and an hour passed, and I didn't realize it.
