I am going to get crushed for this but I have no real idea what Wayne has done or hasn’t done. I have been an NRA member forever but that’s because every club I’ve ever joined it has been a requirement. I get the magazines, they are awful, I toss the magazines. So I support the NRA but I don’t pay any attention to them for 5he most part. When I do read about them some of it is good some of it isn’t. Wayne is what? A shill, an embezzler, a closet gun grabber? A short answer or germane link to his sins perhaps. I want to enjoy his departure too but I’m not quite sure why I’m rooting for it.

It is not difficult to imagine that someone, who on the surface has a proper agenda and a a good message, can go so wrong. History is filled with these types of people. LaPierre and his cronies in the NRA had a 40+ year run heading the NRA, without accountability, just a private club with access to a huge bankroll provided by gunowners each year. No stockholders to report to, just members who had no idea of the financials of their members based organization. It way beyond $2000 suits and luxurious vacations. One radio gun host estimated that LaPierre and the dozens of board members, PR firms, and vendors blew through over a billion dollars in the last 40 years for their personal use. From my post at the bottom of page 3, here is the house the NRA almost bought for LaPierre in 2018, using member's money paid to fight gun control: He reportedly has a $17 million golden parachute owed him from the NRA, part of it for his use to "repay" the NRA of part of the funds he used for his lifestyle after his court case in NY. Mind you, the org filed for bankruptcy in recent years, they simply did not have enough cash anymore. Membership has dwindled down to a little over 4 million, the lowest in years. This is the legacy of Wayne LaPierre. Good summary, oddball. The NRA was used as the personal piggy bank of LaPierre and his cronies. He has set back the organization, and the cause, immeasurably. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

And to think I helped pay for that monstrosity of a house when I thought I was contributing towards the defense of our liberty. What a scam. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

And I actually made a math error- LaPierre has been a key executive at the NRA for over 30 years, not 40, 33 years to be exact. Thank you Very little |
Recheck post, they didn't buy that house it says "here's the house they almost bought" Might as well put up pictures of a G3, Mercedes, etc and say, here's stuff they almost bought. Not supporting him, but it's silly to put up stuff in an article that didn't happen and then just leave it there to stir people up.

If someone wants to read published articles the best Google search terms are NRA Ackermann McQueen. It's even worse than LaPierre and his cronies using the NRA as their personal piggy bank. A high level summary was little or no financial controls between NRA, NRA PVF, NRA ILA, NRA TV, Ackermann McQueen, and I forgot the lawfirm names. Money was treated like a giant slush fund with little or no Corporate separateness between them. Oliver North started to look into the malfeasance and got ousted right at the beginning of the NRA Convention in Indianapolis. Personally, I was frustrated when the NRA would call to ask for money, and all of the reasons they declared they needed money would be for NRA PVF (i.e. elections not the NRA programs). I'd ask "shouldn't I be giving to NRA PVF" and I'd get the reply "it's all the same thing." I'm not an accountant, but I have 27 years of dealing with Corporate separateness (i.e. an oil & gas corporation is actually comprised of hundreds of corporations, JVs, LLCs, LLPs, and MLPs) and knew that wasn't true. I stole the below from another board, quoting as this is not mine, but sounds like more of the same with them... "Under the bylaws, the head of General Operations becomes acting Executive Vice President. One month ago, Joe DeBergalis was head of General Operations, when he was suddenly replaced by Andrew Arulanandam, a PR person with no experience in General Operations or in management. Rumor had it that DeBergalis had no use at all for the Brewer Law Firm, while Andrew worked with Brewer’s PR branch." Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

Silly? It DID happen. Just because "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

I think it is simpler to say that a majority of us saw the waste and largess of the board and especially Wayne, at the very same time as failing to support 2nd Amendment causes and issues. Fairly obvious the money went to greed not our cause, that is the root of my disdain. ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

^^^^^^^^^^ No shit To those outside of TX; Phelan is the one instrumental in trying to oust A.G. Ken Paxton. As Speaker, he has appointed nine Democrats to key committees, with most Republicans calling for his resignation. He, along with Dan Crenshaw, are two Republicans who should be voted out.
