Damn, I was kind of hoping he'd be acquitted because as Alan Dershowitz said, this will actually help Trump because it shows how unfair the venue for the trial was for Trump. Hunter will just be pardoned after the election regardless of the outcome.

How ironic he bought Jack Ruby's gun of choice.

He'll probably get a year and serve 85% of it.

No, but if Biden loses, there’s no reason for him not to pardon Hunter. If Biden wins, there’s also no reason because he can’t run again. Remember, Biden is a congenital liar and just because he said now that he won’t pardon him, doesn’t mean he won’t after the election.

I listened to Robert Barnes on Viva and I agree with him that the charges against Hunter are unconstitutional. Granted he violated federal law by lying on the forms, but if you take "Shall Not Be Infringed" as absolute, there should be no forms. It took me a few minutes to consider things and to ignore that Hunter was the defendant. So, I'll be honest here and say that I think the Second Amendment is absolute.

I think he's referring to the period between November 5, 2024 and January 20, 2025

He's talking about Joe pardoning him, not Trump.

And I really couldn't care less if he does. And he'll do it even if he wins. It's his son. I'd do the same if I had that power.

Got it. He's referring to *FJB* pardoning FHB regardless of the election outcome.

Obama and Holder halted most prosecutions for lying on the 4473 because most of the people that get caught are minorities with felony records, and THAT'S RACIST.

Practically speaking, there are not many prosecutions, and certainly not for people with no prior record that passed the background check. Due process requires the gov't to demonstrate with evidence that you are a habitual user/abuser of drugs, and generally that means a conviction. same for alcohol abuse - generally a DUI (or multiple in a time period) is required for disqualification.

Now the left will argue "2nd Amendment Rights" for Hunter which will be amusing since Joe is such an anti.

All rights are subject to restriction and/or revocation after due process. You lose your right to liberty (or life) when convicted of a crime. Felons lose the right to vote and the right to own firearms. The disqualification based on drug use is due to the "war on drugs" and you could argue that it is unconstitutional. I will find it very amusing if Hunter pursues that on appeal, in effect expanding gun rights to criminals, given Joe's anti gun platform.

President Joe Biden released a statement following the verdict, describing his love and pride for his son.

“So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery.

“As I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal. Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that,” President Biden added.

It’s also not the last criminal trial for Mr. Biden this year, who faces a September court date in California over tax evasion charges.

Mr. Biden faces up to 25 years in prison with his conviction in the federal gun case, although first-time offenders typically receive less than the maximum sentence.

The judge has not set a date for sentencing, but it usually comes within 120 days of the verdict. At the latest, that would place the hearing a month away from the November election.

It is not clear whether the judge will give Mr. Biden jail time after receiving a guilty verdict.
