There are reports from multiple news sites on the internutz to the effect that Mitch "Pushing Turtle" McConnell and other Reps in the Senate are putting up bills for consideration that have at least enough Democrat support to be formally debated on the Senate floor. The bills might not actually pass - in many cases these are bills that only one or two Dem Senators would vote to see debated. But the process would eat up an awful lot of time and put a couple of Dem Senators in a bad place just before the 2022 elections. I wonder if Schumer was technically sophisticated enough to understand the filibuster's role in managing day-to-day traffic on the Senate floor before all that happened. At any rate, if the Senate is so evenly divided and the upcoming elections are so close that Pushing Turtle actually has a shot at pulling off a maneuver like that then it seems likely that the filibuster will survive. After all, when the Dems got rid of the filibuster for judicial appointees the Republican revenge under Trump was aversion therapy brutal. At least some of the Dems must be asking themselves how much there is to gain by getting rid of it now.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...lled-speech-n2601765 Mitch McConnell: “The President’s rant yesterday was incorrect, incoherent, and beneath his office. He used the phrase ‘Jim Crow 2.0’ to demagogue a law that makes the franchise more accessible than in his own state of Delaware. He blasted Georgia’s procedures regarding local elections officials while pushing national legislation with almost identical language on that issue," McConnell said. “The President implied things like widely-popular voter I.D. laws are ‘totalitarian’ on the same day Washington D.C.’s Democratic mayor told citizens to bring both a photo I.D. and a vaccine card anytime they leave their house." “There was no consistent standard behind anything the President said. He trampled through some of the most sensitive and sacred parts of our nation’s past. He invoked times when activists bled, and when soldiers died. All to demagogue voting laws that are more expansive than what Democrats have in his own home state. Georgia has more days of early voting than Delaware or New York. Georgia has no-excuse absentee voting which Delaware and New York do not have. If Georgia or Texas present Jim Crow emergencies, then so do a whole lot of Democrat-run states," McConnell continued. “The Senate Democratic Leader is going on cable TV and saying Georgia is ‘greatly restricting or eliminating early voting.’ This is a lie. Provably false. Georgia has more early voting than New York." “Twelve months ago, this President said that ‘disagreement must not lead to disunion.’ But, yesterday, he invoked the bloody disunion of the Civil War to demonize Americans who disagree with him. He compared a bipartisan majority of Senators to literal traitors." “How profoundly unpresidential,"

Maybe someone here can point me to the clause in the Constitution that guarantees all of us the right to convenience in voting. It must be somewhere alongside the right to vote quickly rather than to have to wait. People in other country's walk miles and stand in oppressive heat, cold, and other weather for the opportunity to cast a vote, any vote. And Joe "My diaper is full again" Biden starts this BS about people being inconvenienced by the voting process! Any guesses what the practical purpose of this would be and why it is being done now? Are installations of barriers such as these ‘normal’ from time to time at the White Bouse? As reported at Treehouse. Pics and video in article. Biden Administration Erecting Concrete Blast and Security Wall Around White House January 12, 2022 | Sundance Recently revealed video shows the Joe Biden White House is erecting a concrete (K-Rail) blast and security containment wall directly around the White House. There doesn’t appear to be any explanation readily available. These types of security barriers are sometimes erected when heads of state are planning to come to the White House. However, there doesn’t appear to be any information about an anticipated delegation or foreign dignitary. Additionally, according to one researcher on social media {LINK}, all of the publicly available CCTV video-streams have been disabled as this work is taking place. The perimeter fence appears to be approximately 10′ high and is made from reinforced concrete k-rails. It is also being installed directly around the White House building itself. Quite odd. You never want to jump to conclusions, but given the COVID pandemic situation it’s doubtful the fencing would be for a head of state arrival. What is the White House preparing for? __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

Just navigating YouTube on the prowl for news.....real news. A ton of these videos are popping up. youtube seems terrified to address them.. Racism and all. Most don't like this music, but the existence of it says people of all types are sick of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPhdpk5Rd6A ___________________________________Sigforum - port in the fake news storm.____________Be kind to the Homeless. Maybe all 84 million of those folks who voted for Biden coming to party at the White House? A truly loved or respected leader doesn't need walls between them and their constituents. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Great comment on the you tube video page "When the hoods and the woods unite we are unstoppable" assume its a reference to urban neighborhoods (i.e. black people) and the rural dwellers, (i.e. white people)

Senator Sinema (D) today: ""I strongly support and will continue to vote for ... the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis" voting bill but "there's no need for me to restate my support for the 60-vote threshold" Sinema calls this week's "harried discussions" on Senate rules a poor substitute for a longer debate that could have taken place over the past few months Says filibuster "ensures that millions of Americans represented by the minority party have a voice" "Eliminating the 60-vote threshold on a party line with the thinnest of possible majorities to pass these bills that I support will not guarantee that we prevent demagogues from winning office," she says. Calls filibuster "critical tool" for safeguarding democracy Sinema says she shares "the disappointment of many" that Republicans won't support elections reform. Says she's disappointed Democrats aren't trying harder to work with Republicans. MANCHIN just now on Sinema’s speech: “Very good. Excellent speech." adding: Manchin (today): "Allowing one party to exert complete control in the Senate with only a simple majority will only pour fuel onto the fire of political whiplash...As such, and as I have said many times before, I will not vote to eliminate or weaken the filibuster."This message has been edited. This is the beginning of their efforts to break the news to the faithful that Joe is a one term president, if even that. They know he can't win re-election and they want someone else anyway. After the midterms, they'll be saying these things more openly.
